  1. Now that Heskey has retired (lol!) and Crouch has apparantly joined England's cheat on your wife or girlfriend club, which now seems to include half the squad, maybe Lambert still has a role to play as a decent target man?! Ha, maybe not...

  3. This is a great post
  4. Thank you Alan, you built us up from a complete mess when you took over and, although Cortese obviously expects miracles, you did a really good job, signed some great players and gave us a terrific cup win. Last season was one of the most enjoyable in a long time and you did not deserve to be sacked. Best wishes for the future.
  5. Summed up perfectly. Saints can never do anything the easy way
  6. Very good point. Lots of the teams with big squads will be looking to give their players who aren't in the 25 experience as they won't be allowed to play in the league
  7. edit - other two CMs sitting deeper*
  8. Not that I necessarily agree but I think Pards will drop Barnard and go with a 4-5-1 formation, getting as many peeps forward whenever possible and having Schneiderlin and/or Hammond sitting back to protect the defence. Lallana and Puncheon supporting Lambert and Guly getting forward too with the other two CMs sounds pretty tastey, but then I'm not too sure where Guly plays best
  9. Agree - we should do anything and everything that we possibly can to thank this great man for saving our club
  10. Still shocked but mostly saddened. The uncertainty over the future of our club will not go away until this whole sad jigsaw is pieced together.
  11. When you consider some of the ties we could have had then a home draw against beatable Premiership opposition is pretty good and will be a good test. Can't see Bolton being particularly up for it considering it's a mid-week evening away fixture for them at the other end of the country.
  12. I cannot thank you enough for saving our club when all seemed lost. You are a true hero and will forever be a Southampton legend. RIP Markus, you most certainly will never be forgotten.
  13. HMRC have lost
  14. Add Vieira to that!
  15. Diarra, Nasri and Flamini are just three players off the top of my head that are miles ahead of Morgan and would be well ahead of him in the pecking order, too. Maybe, one day...lol
  16. Disagree. Surely a pay-as-you-play deal would be benefitial for both parties - Murty gets back training and in the squad again which is what he wants, and Saints have an experienced back-up defender who isn't costing them very much at all and who is vastly experienced and vocal and will benefit everyone in the squad just by being around. A character like Murty is important as he will help the youngsters and add some squad depth etc., I think a pay-as-you-play deal will be great for both us and Murty himself if he wants to stay with us!
  17. You saved our club from death and for this you will always be a legend
  18. OP seems pretty accurate, certainly if at any stage we aren't in the top two, be it after 1 game or 45, AP and the team will certainly take some stick. If we aren't in the top two after 46 games, it must be regarded as a big underachievement, what with the players and resources at our disposal
  19. I wouldn't call Lallana a striker, meaning that we are even shorter in the department up top. All the full backs are left backs, too, so obviously a right back and striker are key. Nothing that we don't know already, though
  20. Another player who perhaps may or may not make the grade, definitely the right decision both for him and us for him to play regular football for a team who will play him most weeks
  21. Great post
