Chances are England will end up in a penalty shoot out at some stage next summer, so could be helpful having Matt on board. If he was in the squad at the time, Euro 96 and France 98 could've been different stories...
-
I'll settle for being an established mid table side.

Blogged about this when England sealed qualification back in October... http://doltonsdomain.blogspot.com/2009/10/thursday-15th-october-2009.html

Who is your player of the season so far?

My top 5. 1. Lallana 2. Lambert 3. Hammond 4. Harding 5. Connolly -
City 2-1 up, lets hope they hold onto it!
-
I can't complain with all these 3-1 wins! Reading the match report sounds like Connolly was sensational today.
-
Probably the best i've seen him play, man of the match tonight, some his cross field passes were amazing.
-
To be fair to John M, he did get involved with the club when they were struggling badly and because of him they had a couple of seasons in the Premiership, he gave the fans the best years they've had and now wants someone who can pump new money into the club to takeover. At least he's not trying to cling onto power at all costs like a certain Mr Lowe did.

Apparently there's a pub on every corner of the ground, so we're spoilt for choice!

When were in administration earlier this year I remember seeing an article in a national newspaper about the two clubs merging into one club, but the author obviously didn't understand the rivalries between the two cities and that it would never work.

I dreamt last night we made it to the semi finals of the FA Cup and were playing Arsenal (who for some reason still had Emannuel Petit playing for them), couldn't get a ticket for the Saints end so had to sit with the Gooners.

Pompey fans really aren't going to like having to leave their own city to watch their home games. Its an idea, but never in a million years can I see Pompey playing their home games at St Marys, I can imagine now the trouble it would cause between fans.
-
Not forgetting the Rickie Lambert song, which has caught on really well recently!
-
Good to see Lallana up there as well.

I went along to it as well, sat in the front row and asked some questions regarding Saints future. He thinks we'll be able to get out of League One next season, but thinks it will be hard to get promoted from the Championship as its such a competitive league. He seemed optimistic though and reckons we'll be in the Premeiership again in 4 years. Also asked him about the whole betting scandal, agrees it was blown out of proportion, pointed the finger at the Daily Echo, as they could've serialised that part of his book, but choose not to, then jumped on the bandwagon a couple of weeks later when national tabloids like the Sun grabbed hold of the story. All in all, a very interesting session with the great man, wish all guest lectures were that good!

James is far too attacking for a right back, the number of times he was out of position of Saturday and got skinned by Brighton's pacy attack. Jaidi needs to be playing alongside a faster centre back, anyone seen Aaron Martin play yet? Does he have more pace than Trotman? Might be worth a gamble...

I think Pardew needs to bring Holmes in to give us that bit of width and move Lallana to play just off Lambert up front. Schneiderlin can play just in front of the back four whilst Hammond can be the box to box. Connelly can be brought on as an impact sub if things aren't going right.

As a student who goes out both during the week and some times at the weekend, I would have to say that I'm far more likely to see trouble on a Friday and Saturday night and incidents involving non students.

4-2-4 was the formation that got me promoted, but I adapt if my backroom staff tell me to. For the Pompey game they told me to go 4-4-2 and play a with a narrow width and slow tempo, worked a treat. Started with this team: Kelvin Davis Lloyd James Shelton Martis Radhi Jaidi Joseph Mills Jay Simpson David Edwards Morgan Schneiderlin Adam Lallana Marek Saganowki Rickie Lambert -

I got promoted as champions 1st season, Saga and Lambert were unstoppable up front together. Brought a few good regenerated Irish players over summer, David Edwards and Mark Viduka on frees, spent most of the budget on Clarke Carlisle. Just played my first game of the second season, Pompey away, was expecting to get thrashed, but won 2-0, well chuffed. -

Thats exactly what I did! -
Not forgetting our amazing away support as well. We took 3,200 to Leyton Orient last weekend, Pompey took less than 500 to Aston Villa in September.
-
I imagine he'll be the first one out the door in January, perhaps followed by Gillett.
-
That's a relief then!

Anyone know how to get the best out of Lambert? I'm at the end of December and he still hasn't scored from open play! He was injured for a month, but I've given him plenty of starts as a target man once he came back. Just two penalties from Lambert so far, good thing Saga and Mellor (95k bargain) are scoring.
