  1. To be fair Fitton seems to be a footballing man, he used to own my local club Hungerford Town before moving onto Swindon and tried to keep the connection, Swindon would come here for a pre season friendly and their reserves played at Bulpit Lane last season (Pardew made a visit here when Saints reserves came to town. The Swindon fans I saw in the pub last night seemed pretty down Fitton had left, but I suppose he had to go after their nightmare season.
  2. I'm going from Hungerford, need to change at Reading, five hour journey time (probably a long wait at Reading), return ticket was £44 in advance but hopefully it will be worth it.
  3. For me this is what makes Adkins a much better manager than Pardew. I remember being at Swindon away last season, we went 1-0 down in the first half and Pardew did nothing until 10 minutes before the end of the game, by which point its far too late. In comparison, when we go 2-0 down against MK Dons a few weeks ago, straight away Nige changes things around and it pays off minutes later.
  4. My favourite band, so you won't be alone there! I'm guessing most will be getting the 9am train up then? I'm staying in London Friday night, planning to meet people at Waterloo before heading on from there, Waterloo always looked best swamped with red and white.
  5. I got mine yesterday morning, wasn't planning to go to it, but if its as significant as I'm hoping it is it will be worth the five hour train journey and numerous changes from Hungerford. Just looking on the website it says if they get enough requests they will run another coach down there. Theres also a bold warning that "any away fans purchasing tickets in the home end face being ejected from the stadium instantly", but surely if thousands of Saints fans buy tickets for the home end they can't do anything about it, Plymouth need the gate revenue more than anyone.
  6. Might be difficult at SMS, but maybe at The Dell?
  7. The Ted Bates statue got a brief mention today in I (that fairly new newspaper published by the Independent) on a fact panel on most embarrassing statues, it was given a cringe rating of 4/5. I would still rather have the first Bates statue outside St Marys instead of Michael Jackson though.
  8. Thats right up there for me, best game I've been to since the Sheffield United game on the last day of 2007/08.
  9. Good to see the goals, but doesn't do justice to how dramatic the game was yesterday, especially when they hit the bar at the end.
  10. Lallana Fonte Lambert Barnard Chamberlain
  11. I just wasn't expecting Swindon to get anything there, they've been terrible since the start of 2011.
  12. This must be the first time I've ever wanted MK Dons to win, always possible, really wasn't expecting Swindon to hold Huddersfield today.
  13. Must admit I've been looking forward to this one all season, was great last year having 3,000 Saints fans at a ground like Orients, haven't been to as many away days as I would've liked this season, so will be making the most of this one.
  14. Vincent Pericard Played for Juventus in the Champions League Represented France at U21 level Scored twice in 34 games for current club Swindon, both goals against Saints
  15. "when Cherries were elevated to the same level as their south coast rivals last season, it was too much for many supporters in the SO postcode to take. " A bit dramatic, when Bournemouth got promoted last season I don't remember speaking to one Saints fan who didn't want them to go up, was more a shrug of the shoulders.
  16. Now we have two first team players on there (unless theres more I don't know about), hopefully more will follow. Twitter seems to have really taken off among players in the last few months, when I first joined it I think Darren Bent was the only footballer on there.
  17. BWP wasn't great for us, but I'll always be grateful to him after his 2 goals at Reading in 2008, one of my favourite away days. And his thieving antics in Pompey inspired a great chant.
  18. I must admit in the heat of last night's defeat I started to wonder if Adkins was up to it, but today I'm thinking more rationally and it wouldn't be a good idea to sack him unless things really go downhill, we've had enough managers over the last few years to know we need some stability and changing managers every season only leads to trouble.
  19. Do the penalty shoot outs in last season's JPT count? I can't remember who took the penalties for us, would've been against Torquay and Norwich.
  20. I just find it funny that a Brighton fan would pay £5 to sign up to a forum of a club he doesn't support, I don't even pay to use this forum. Mind you, theres got to be some way for these kids to kill all that time during half term.
  21. I remember when he came on and got an equaliser for us against Ipswich a few seasons ago, thought he would be a decent loan signing, but then he did little else for the rest of his spell. Instant impact, then went quiet, a bit like that Jordan Robertson.
  22. I'm glad someone can sympathise with me, the yokels really do like to rub it in still, even though we're 15 places above them, will be good to shut them up. I'm coming down with some Swindon lads and having a few pre match pints with them, can anyone recommend a place that welcomes both sets of fans? We did Giddy Bridge last season, but would be good to take them somewhere different this time.
  23. The pubs I go to in Hungerford there is always at least one Swindon fan in there I know, every week its the same abuse, "Whats that, we've beaten you four times?". Its a personal thing.
  24. For me this is one of the biggest games of the season, I know far too many Swindon fans and they've all enjoyed rubbing in our recent record against them of 0-4 without even scoring a single goal. This may be our best chance to finally beat them, morale is at a huge low at County Ground, everyone I know who goes is fed up of watching their dire performances. There also sounds like there is a bit of dressing room unrest, the players have been banned from talking to the media, fans are really getting on Wilson's back now. My mate reckons they'll bring less fans than they brought on the Tuesday night game last season as the circumstances are completely different, so if there was ever a good time to start going on a winning run its Saturday. At least I won't have to go through the pain of Austin scoring against us on Saturday.
  25. I have to agree, seems like we have to wait for ages before they start talking about Saints. The worst part of it is having to sit through a Steve Cotterill post match interview, its all moan, moan, moan, about having no money to sign players and having to play the youth team, he knew the situation before he went there. He also never says "we deserved to lose this one", always a poor refereeing decision in his eyes.
