Damn I think we've missed a trick not signing up this French wonderkid LOL
-
Well considering Boro and other CCC clubs (apparently) were in for him, I'd say that clearly sends the message that people think highly of him and think he's CCC quality. Tbh, i think you need to realise that we're in League One on -9 and realistically are going to struggle to get ourselves promoted this season so this season is going to be a little bit about consolidation. But signing him on a 3 year contract sends a message...2 yrs in L1 and a year in the CCC...then Prem beckons!
-
Don't underestimate it...

I'm not saying Kelv's necessarily been a "big name signing" in the great scheme of things, but I'd be worried about the goalkeeping situation were he not here. I certainly think he's been perhaps the most important signing (maybe with the exception of Lambert). Thing is with Kelv, I genuinely think we've got a PL quality 'keeper in League One which is huge
-
Lambert's power with Beckford's pace would do very nicely thank you very much! Although I can't see it happening...I think he's destined for PL, or certainly upper reaches of CCC
-
Saga and Rasiak aren't sticking around IMO. And I thought Pato looked impressive on Saturday so I'd give him the nod. Though if the Poles do go that leaves us a striker or two light...here's hoping!
-
Biggest signing since Kelvin Davis re-signed!

Ok, seeing as in the post above in response to BadgerBadger you accuse him/her of not being able to read, I suggest you get learn yourself. At which point in my post did I suggest you had boycotted games? I merely said I thought it was a pathetic way of showing displeasure. And if I'm not mistaken (which I'm not), the phrase 'pot calling kettle black' refers to hypocrisy, which I've not shown. I don't boycott games, neither do you. We're on the same page in that respect obviously. Difference is in the fact that I buy, and will continue to buy, a season ticket regardless of the situation the club is in whereas you appear to be disgruntled if the club doesn't match your expectations. Support Man United or Real Madrid if your reasons for allegiance are shallow enough to be influenced by player signings.
-
Sounds like you think a bit too highly of yourself considering you say there are no 'uber fans'. A bit of advice for you...get off your high horse before you fall and hit your head. I was there throughout last season's debacle and would never have boycotted games, I always thought it was a pathetic way of dealing with the crisis. That only hastened our decline. But you're clearly still living with the negativity generated by the past...just move on.

It shouldn't matter. If you're a true fan you support the club whatever the situation.
-
They were interested, but I think Rovers and Saints have been negotiating since last week or even before that so I don't really think they were in a position to make a firm bid. OS says there was competition for his signature from clubs in CCC so it's a major coup however you look at it!

"As soon as I heard that Southampton had come in for me I was very excited so I made sure that it happened." F**k off Southgate!
-
pfc123 you've gone awfully quiet since your post...have you crawled back into the hole you came from?
-
I'm not saying they need to be the first to break every story, but they are supposedly our local paper so shouldn't constantly have to get news about the local football club through other sources. Shoddy journalism IMO, especially when they use phrases like "as can be revealed by the Echo" which just blatently isn't true! Anyway, we're digressing...back to Rickie Lambert...Get in!
-
Just because they claim to have "exclusives" doesn't mean they do, their stories always break after another source has broken it
-
Haha yet again the echo prove what cr*p journalists they've got!
-
That's the main thing. It might take a while, but at least AP knows where we need to improve. Under the useless showers we've had since Strachan (with the exception of Pearson), they've not had a clue about what the weaknesses even are, let alone solving them. The appointment of Dean Wilkins is a masterstroke with regard to the fitness issue, and both he and AP will get us there, I've no doubt! At last we've got a boss who knows what he's doing!
-
Backfired on him though hasn't it! Even if we're in League 1 on -10 (-9 now, woo!), we're still in an infinitely better place now than at ANY time during his reign. His plan to wipe us out of existence has emphatically failed! COYR!
-
Seen his name touted as a potential loanee this season...but I think maybe not after reading this! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8192508.stm

NC and ML are legends. Enough said!

Carberry for England. May be a bit of a gamble, but he can't do any worse than Bopara!
-
Any pictures of Markus wearing his saints scarf?

Be careful mentioning Lowe around these parts. The very mention of his name and you may get lynched! -
Unfortunately not, Gillingham beat us to it Nearly 21,000 attendance yesterday, fantastic considering we were on sky! bodes well for the rest of the season!
-
Did u not see how many powerful headers Thomas made?!?!
-
tbh, i'm not a great fan of saga, coz i don't think he's all that interested in playin in league 1 and fair enough, he's got an international career to think of. but i do think all those who thought he played badly yesterday are expecting him to bang in 3-a-game in league 1, but that's not gonna happen however good he is. being a forward isn't all about scoring goals...
