Who would you sell after the transfer window closes?
Evil Monkey replied to Dr. Kucho's topic in The Saints
Although he was pretty bad on Saturday, Lemina is top class. Early on in the game he showed this by drifted past opposition midfielders with ease. Then we were on the back foot, and he wasn't been given the ball. You could see his frustration. He then tried to be too clever every time he WAS given it, by letting the ball run past him, intending to run on to it. Gladbachs pressing though meant he lost it several times. It was very tight in the midfield with so many bodies in there. The rest of the team's attempts at one touch play was embarrassing, and caused just as many losses of possession as Lemina did. I've seen more than enough from him over the last year to know that he should play every game. I don't think the formation suits his either. Playing as a cdm he receives the ball very deep, so even if he can skin his man, we're not much better off. 433 would be better for him, and the team imo. -
Mac Cedric Yoshi Vest Bert Rom Mario Redmond Armstrong Ely Gabbi If we can't defend with 5 at the back, we might as well play with 4 and use the extra man to try and score some goals ourselves.

McCarthy Bednarek Vestergaard Hoedt Targett PEH Lemina Bertrand Armstrong Gabbi Elyounoussi

Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal

If we could sell Cedric for £25-30m. Replace him for half that. And put the rest towards that Porto striker, I'd be delighted. The only thing missing then is Sisto. -
Oohhhh, he's multiplied everything by 5. I get it.

What am I looking at here? Ings scored 105 goals in 44 games in 2010/11?
-
****ing hell. The poor guy started 5 games in a terrible team that couldn't create chances. And in a new country/ league. And yet he's the scapegoat for an entire season? Do me a favour. If he goes, good luck to him. But he wasn't at fault for any of the ****e we had to endure last season.
-
He scored 2 free kicks in one game for Norway (ok, it was against San Marino) last year. JWP might have to find a new reason to get in the team.
-
You wouldn't think so with Mendy, Delph, Danilo and Zincenko as options. I think that's what it'll come down to. He could end up staying because no one needs a 1st or even 2nd choice LB. Arsenal, Montreal and Kolasinac Chelsea, Alonso, Zappacosta and Emerson United, Shaw, Young, (New signing, but will aim higher) Liverpool, Robertson and Moreno Spurs, Davies and Rose.

Brilliant fixtures. Not had a better start to a season since.....oh, last year.

This Carillo debate is difficult to ignore. Especially as it is in a thread about potential new signings. Obviously both sides are correct. No, he didn't hit the ground running. He doesn't look like he will make it here because we are judging him by scoring 0 goals in a terrible MoPe side. But, yes he could still come back. He's only played 7 games for us. He's got a full preseason with a manager who played in his position. He could turn him in to something very good for us. You don't need to be in one camp or the other.

None of them can head the ball ffs. Even against the midget Ayew brothers they lost everything in the air. I don't really understand it because they're all quite tall. It must be a bravery/confidence issue. 1 new CB who can show the rest how easy it is, is a must.

Cue John Terry joining Derby on a 1 year deal, along with about 27 Chelsea loanees. -
Liverpool won't want McCarthy. They'll be pushing City for the league next season. I suspect he'll sign a new deal with us, and FF will remain as his no2 as no one will be willing to match what we are paying him.

We were dead and burried when he took over. Not mathematically, but we could all see where we were heading. Hughes instilled passion and pride back into the players and fans. He made us competitive in every game (except WHU). One club always seems to save themselves right at the last second. I genuinely didn't think it could be us. Maybe not our greatest of escapes, but certainly one that I didn't see coming. Hughes saved us no question. He deserves a 2/3 year contract. Thank you Mark!

As long as Huddersfield lose to Chelsea and Arsenal, then we'll need to lose by 12 (+ whatever Huddersfield lose by in those games) to be relegated. Luckily both opponents have a reason to go all out for 3 points.

Monaco, Dortmund, Porto, Ajax...all sell their best players year in year out. They make mega profits and move on to the next players. If that was our place in the Premier League I'd be happy with that. Buy unknowns, improve them, win alot of games, a cup run here and there, sell and buy again. Whats wrong with that? Lemina wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for that recruitment system. Sadly he is probably our only good buy in the last couple of summers. Coupled with poor management is why we are where we are now. Whether we go down or stay up, we should try to get back to what made us successful (by our standards). The only other option is to buy worse players so that nobody wants them. A bit like we've been doing lately.

Dale Steyn could be coming in June. Good signing if he's fit enough.

Should be a gender neutral team/league too. Why should only people who identify as man or a woman be able to play football!? Makes me sick.

Hughes Hyperthetical Summer Transfer Window
Evil Monkey replied to Dan Johnson's topic in The Saints
If we stay up, regardless of who our manager is, I'd like to see us try to take advantage of the big teams' big spending. Mourinho is famous for letting talent get away. I don't even mean Luke Shaw, but also players like Fosu Mensah and Tuanzebe. Solanke and Grujic at Liverpool, Loftus Cheek at Chelsea etc. They all have too much money to bother nurturing young players. -
Weak defensively. But I'd take all 3 of those fowards at Saints.
-
Hart (hopefully) Zabaleta Collins Ogbonna Cresswell Kouyate Noble Mario Lanzini Antonio Arnie Something like that.
-
Not much height in the WHU side with their injuries. I'd start JWP and Carillo for sure. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Hoedt Bertrand Hoj Lemina JWP Gabbi Redmond Carillo

Look at those fixtures. Every team there has 3+ winnable home games, except us. We have 1. Bournemouth, who would love to help us down to the Championship. Only beaten the absolute worst sides this season. Hopefully WHU will still be that when we play them. Otherwise where will the wins come from?
