1. JPT Winners, Wembley trips for Cup Finals are few and far between. 2. Reaching the Play Offs, Winning too would be great and would be another trip to Wembley but chances are becoming slimmer, would love to see us promoted as Champions next year if we dont make it via Play Offs this season. 3. Beating Pompey, seen this several times already, more opportunnity in the future if they survive.

Same story with a slightly different slant from The Sun to Chainrai seizing control. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2838479/Pompey-are-at-war-once-more.html

This will be my 5th, my first experince of the derby game was the 5-1 away win at Fratton Park for the Alan Knight Testimonial, followed by the '96 cup win on my birthday , and then the League cup and Premiership wins in the '03 season. In each of the games I've been to I have not seen us lose against them yet and I hope that continues on the 13th Feb too. The Missus is looking forward to this one too as it will be her first experience of a derby match.

I'm not saying that they won't, but can't see how they can. If Pompey manage to stay in business and in doing so avoid the drop at the expense of either Burnley, Bolton, Hull, or Wolves I'm sure each of those clubs will have something to say about it, especially when they have lived within their means. Any intervention to help Pompey financially or otherwise would open up a huge can of worms for the Premier League surely?

Still makes me laugh. Andy Gray... Sky Pundit of the highest order it would seem, so quick to always point out what went wrong, how it should be done, how it shouldn't be done, what is right, what is wrong, position this, marking that... and Everton through and through. However, when offered the Everton job as Manager several years ago when I think Mike Walker was sacked? Was offered the job away from Sky for a much more attractive salary and declined it (Shat it?, bottled it?). Worried he might have been found out for all of his (Convienient after the match) punditary observations?... I think so, and damn sure that although still opinionated now, he isn't such the arrogant know it all now as much as he professed to be back then before the Everton job offer came along.

With so much focus revolving around the first team and the squad, the League, the JPT, FA Cup, are there any updates on what is happening with other areas regarding the Club? With the exception of the new facilities being built for Staplewood does anyone know of other exciting developments happening behind the scenes? Just wondered where we are now with scouting networks, coaching for the reserves and Youth team/Academy? Can we hope to see progress also with improving the Concourses, Facilities, Marketing, Club Shop, Merchandise, and other areas of the the club that are usually furthest from our minds when watching the season unfold on the pitch before us. It always makes good reading on the rumour mill for new player signings but are there any for matters other than on the pitch for the goings on behind the scenes at St Marys too?

I can understand why you may think this if you are someone who doesn't sing. But if you are sat among fans who just want to watch a game without joining in and singing you become one of them despite wanting to sing to get an atmosphere going. Being amongst quitely observing fans when all you want to do is belt your lungs out can be difficult as you can quickly be seen as a disturbance among them when no-one else joins in around you. Unfortunately the areas where you can do this among the fans who do like to sing in the most popular areas are already sold out to other season ticket holders, I've seen countless posts on here where fans have complained about the lack of atmosphere around them and have sensed the uncomfortable feeling of singing alone and I believe many who would like to, like myself, simply don't for the respect of others around us who would like to watch the game without it. In addition to ST holders I'm sure there are many more singers with match day tickets who also find themselves in areas that prefer just to observe too that respect the quiet area they find themselves in. I'm not complaining about it and will soon be moving my seat elsewhere to join in a lively atmosphere but just wanted to say that just because fans around you don't sing doesn't mean they don't want too, some of us when considering our view of the pitch just hoped there would be more of an atmosphere around us than we actually got. Throughout the ground I'm sure there are a lot of other fans who consider every aspect of the game they like to see and feel and take one option over the other when choosing where to sit as the chance I took. At the moment I think the areas to join a lively atmosphere and sing are far more limited to those where you can without disturbing others. With Blocks 1-3 being closed this has limited the availability even further and has quietened many fans who would usually be more vocal with likewise fans around them. With the current limitations many vocal fans are dispersed to other areas and the sound level of support is weakened overall. Before any re-allocation of away fans is made I think the club should first re-open Blocks 1-3 for at least a season first which will open up more opportunity for the singers to get seats in a lively atmosphere. If after this time it doesn't meet their expectations then look to furhter options of re-locating the away fans.

Should Saints sign Papa Waigo & Antonio?
Gigersaint replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
I think that we should sign Papa, after he came on yesterday he had an instant impact, first of all winning the corner that led to the first goal and then scoring the second one. Before he came on we looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw. Even to keep him as a player that can come on and change a game rather than a starting player I still think he is worth keeping hold of. -
Is the Winding up petition heard in court as a whole, or on a creditor by creditor basis that have joined the petition? How does this work and what happens on the hearing date on Feb 10th with the additional creditors joining?

Even if Portsmouth survive this season and are relegated, it looks a possibilty that they may not be allowed to play in the FL either. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/31/premier-league-debts-panel Portsmouth have really exposed the failures of the system, and almost regardless of what happens to them now it just shows that the Premier League's fit-and-proper-person test does not work. Even if Portsmouth survive until the end of the season, if they are in anything like the current financial state, it will be very hard for the Football League to accept them or a team facing those kinds of problems. The football authorities – whether it's the FA or the Premier League – have either got to demonstrate palpably that the FAPPT can work (and it palpably hasn't) or they have to set up a genuinely effective test of ownership, almost certainly in collaboration with the Football League. That should then be implemented rigorously, by a third party – an objective, external panel, probably involving a lawyer, somebody who knows the game, and another party. As it is, the FAPPT is discredited and the Premier League is becoming a source of ridicule.

Taken in Thailand or is that a bike seat?

I read somewhere that the original Account used to pay players was frozen as part of the WUP. Apparently this has been another reason lately as to why it hasn't helped with paying staff and players as they have to find alternative Accounts in which to pay salaries from and has been a differerent Account source each time when they finally have been paid. I think there is a link on this thread somewhere but with so much going on recently I couldn't be sure it was on here that I read it.

No idea, thought it may have been Van Gobbel at first but not sure he looks large enough, how on earth did you stumble upon this channel so early in the morning? Must admit, the green backdrop is eye catching enough on its own to snatch Channel Hoppers.

Another interesting article stemming from the goings on at Pompey... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247345/Ian-Ridley-Football-fiddling-finances-smoke.html And unfortunately for one person, someone to pay their debts http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/31/portsmouth-fan-told-pay-club-debts

Going to be even more difficult to pay wages according to some posts on this thread http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=424&fid=203&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123044097 Comments on this thread which include these two posts... The list of Supporting Creditors is probably extensive anyway as the Petition has now been advertised as per the rules which explains why the Companies Bank Account has been frozen as the Bank are obligated to do that . No transactions are allowed without specific permission ofthe Petitioning Creditor HMRC Next will be the announcement that the Players will not have been paid because the Club will have to find an alternative source from which to transmit the money to their accounts I shall be attending the hearing on 10th feb to find out exactly the full list of creditors and the full amounts owed in total. Whilst that appliciation was pending the Petition could not be advertised. hence the fact that Supporting Creditors are now joining Only the Bank Account of the Company facing the petition is affected. Nothing to stop the Club using another account/source related company to deal with wages or a third party. The problem will be setting up methods fo paying staff/players Seems that even if they have the money it's also finding the means to pay the staff that has become difficult too.

It can't be too long now before many of these creditors completely lose all patience and join others on the Winding Up Petition now. How long can some of these smaller companies sit back hoping to be paid while others join the queue ahead of them fighting for the scraps of cash after the largest creditors take the lions share of what they can get when it all finally crashes in?
-
Doh, it was. How easy it is to forget some of the smaller items to add to the list... it's like doing the weekly shopping now and forgetting to buy butter.
-
No pitch perimeter advertising due to unpaid bills, no marquee due to repossessed generators before Sunderland game... think that would then be everything covered.

Suddenly their fans are starting to dig out some gems of their own from the past. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/5155041/Premier-League-fat-cats-cash-in-despite-recession.html Posted tonight on one of their forums to remind others what Storrie has done (taken from) for the club.

Even funnier that each one is contactable on the purchase history through their E-Bay account, I may ask a few how they are enjoying their T-Shirts right now?

After lurking on a few Pompey message boards starting to notice a few disagreements breaking out across them over who is to blame, protest marches, pitch invasions, supporting Peter Storrie etc. Probably not long now before the infighting also starts breaking out in the stands, have a feeling it could be far uglier than the levels ours reached when everything came to a head given thier history of smashing up their own town.
