  1. The Missus and I are in 528-531 along with 2 other friends.
  2. For many episodes of the Football League show I always thought Lizzie Greenwood had a big mole on her chin until recently when I realised it was the end of her microphone. #-o
  3. First time I've seen it and glad it was posted again after I missed it the other times. Truly amazing talent and worthy of being a winner for being very unique and unusual at that, unlike most of the same old talentless crap we see on the UK version of the programme.
  4. Before the start of the Season and despite his wealth not knowing what to expect from a new owner with the club starting on -10 points with Mark Wotte I never would have imagined we would appoint a Manager of Alan Pardews standard, never thought we would cherry pick some of the leagues best players let alone others from the CCC and above. I didn't even give a trip to Wembley or the possibility of a Trophy a thought or a decent progression in the FA Cup that would see us meet Pompey facing a crisis of their own, also giving a good account of ourselves despite the result, and hoped at best we could achieve a mid table position for this season which at the least we do currently have. Of course, and despite not expecting even half of the above I'm still dissappointed that it does not look as if we will reach the play off's this season but looking back I never expected half the fun I've had supporting Saints this season and like myself have spoken to many other Saints fans who have also mentioned how much they have enjoyed watching them this season, more so than in recent years. So, if we don't quite reach the play off's and go up this season as at least 3rd best in the league, I can't wait until next season where I will of course have the expectation of us to being a much more solid team doing so much better and hopefully going up as Champions instead, something we were never going to be close to achieving this Season. As for the rest of this one, I'm looking forward to a day out at Wembley, hopefully finishing with a trophy whilst still hoping we may have a shot still at the play off's too but if not... already I cannot wait for next season to begin after what we have achieved so far in a such a short space of time in a season that began with so much disruption.
  5. During the last few months I read somewhere that due to levels of debt and financial mismanagement that they could possibly even be refused entry to the FL if relegated. I can't be sure where I read it, whether it was on this thread sometime back, a newspaper report or somewhere on other football forums. I'll keep looking to see if I can find it but in the meantime does anyone else know if this could be the case now relegation looks a real certainty with them going into Admin?
  6. Noticed that quite a few, if not most of the skeleton riders clip the same corner too that Nodar Kumaritashvili hit before his tragic accident, that corner is lethal and seems to be almost too narrow coming out of the last bend. Were the other two accidents in the same place?
  7. Was great to watch, I was on the edge of my seat with Amy being last to go!
  8. I've had a sleep disorder ever since I was involved in a bad road accident 24 years ago. I very rarely get tired in the evenings and will still be wide awake at 3.00am in the morning even when I have to be up for work at 7.30am. Most nights during the working week I'm lucky to get more than 4 hours sleep. However on days when I do not have to be up for work, usually only at weekends, I can sometimes manage to stay asleep for 8 hours, still being awake till 3.00am but get up at 11.00am. After 2 decades of poor sleep it would be nice to at least be used to it but unfortunately most of the time through the working week I can at times still feel knackered and the Doc's haven't been able to offer much help either over the years.
  9. Just wish we could have had a couple more in the first half too , although don't know how much my shins could've taken after being smashed and bruised against the seat in front of me after one!
  10. Watched it again just until after Lambert equalises, even on TV the roar of the crowd when Rickie heads it in sounds absolutely awesome.
  11. ...it's seems the last result always seems to be the last word when trying to have a discussion with a Skate. Getting sick of hearing nothing but that of the 4-1 defeat of our last game with them. Would be great to get shot of that, especially if they are beaten by League 1 Southampton tomorrow. I can put up with most of the other bull****... we've held the cup the longest... blah, blah, blah... 7 years... blah, blah, blah. Yawn! The last result usually has the last word, and as long as we can have the last word after each Derby that's enough to keep me happy until the next one comes along.
  12. Been looking forward to this since the draw, up until Wednesday I was quite patiently waiting. But the last couple of days I have been more than distracted to the build up of this game including Pompeys fate, and since then have had this site minimised on my Desktop at work so I could regularly pop it up and view the latest postings. Today I spent as much time on here as working and the anticipation of tomorrows game is now one of genuine excitement. I really hope we do win but whatever the result I'm sure it will be a great day, albeit a lot more sombre should we lose.
  13. Should Pompey find a buyer and the story of two interested parties be true, what is it that Pompey have that say a club like Newcastle don't? With Newcastle being originally available for 100m in the Premier League with their stadium, team, facilities before being offered for 80m once in the Championship, wouldn't they still be a better proposition now at 80m on the rise back to the Premier League rather than taking on Pompey for a £1 with an outdated stadium, no facilities, and almost 70m of debt in freefall from the Premier League. If any wealthy potential buyers were looking for a club to buy, what is there that makes Pompey a good aquisition when there are other Clubs available in much stronger positions? Surely anyone successful to have enough money to buy a football Club wouldn't buy one on a whim without looking at what else is offer for a similar price before weighing up what they will be getting for the money that needs to invested, so what is it that Pompey have that seems to attract these prospective buyers because it's not just for their facilities and fans.
  14. Quite agree, for the first time in a while I was sat/stood among fans in the Kingsland/Northam corner and it was great to be able to join and belt my lungs out in a likewise environment. I can't do this half way down in the Itchen where I am currently and only haven't moved permanently to the corner because often it isn't full, plus not really too keen on the corner view either. If the Northam was opened up fully to home fans I would be in with a shout of getting a seat back in there half way up the stand where I like to be in amongst the fans who like to sing adding one more to the vocal support. I'm sure there are probably others like me who are in areas where the only reason we don't sing is because we respect that the majority of those who are around us prefer not to. At the moment I stay where I am mostly due to a lack of option. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy that I have a good view near the halfway line, half way down the stand, surrounded by fans every week that to be fair, will from time to time clap and cheer the team on so I almost get a little of everything. But if I could get a seat mid way behind the goal half way down surrounded by other fans who like to sing throughout too I'd be even happier. The only reason I can't at the moment is because currently there are no available seats in this position in the Northam and the other half is taken up by the away following. After Tuesday night against the MK Dons it was good fun to be back in amongst a lot of what I miss, and if and when the away fans are moved I'll be down to St Marys like a shot to move my seat where I can be back in an area with another view of the pitch I enjoy, surrounded in a full stand each week with plenty of vocal support and I'm sure there are plenty of others that would too. :smt045
  15. Will they be able to? If they're to be kept in at the end of the game? Would be even more miserable for them if they're are losing to us and have to watch the whole event to the final whistle too.
  16. When I was in the Archers years ago I always used to wear striped underwear to games as I always thought they maybe lucky, quite often it seemed they were until eventually when threadbare in the Northam I conceeded that they probably weren't any longer. However, this morning I happened to pluck some new and unworn striped underwear from my drawer and wondered if the superstitious magic could still be there... Well, tonights result speaks for itself, and from now on I will only be wearing striped underwear for future games.
  17. Having to wait until payday before I could afford tickets for tonights game the Missus and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Away from our usual seats in the Itchen and in the Kingsland Northam corner and being back in amongst a great atmosphere made tonights game all the more enjoyable despite the odd few momemts when we weren't doing so well on the pitch. In addition to the Players tonight, thanks to everyone in the Kingsland Northam Corner too for helping make a good game great and keeping the lively atmosphere around us all going throughout the evening. :smt038=D>:partyman: Moving our seats after tonight...
  18. How odd... and even more odd that I find myself agreeing and knowing what you mean.
  19. You're welcome. At the very least we know there will be two of us at minimum voting for a shirt on this design if any of the actual shirt designs comes close.
  20. At least we got a compliment from one of the blue few even be it at a grass roots level... this is more than I would ever have expected from a from a Pompey fan. Can't wait to see the outcome in several years time when a few of these players from our better organised schools, clubs, and local leagues are knocking on our First Team door having been trained at our first class facilities.
  21. Congratulations to the happy couple and welcome to the newest Saints supporter. Nice gesture from NC as well for them all.
  22. So it wasn't St Will, with the Golf Club, in The Muppet show then?? :smt119 I'll get me coat...
  23. There’s a lot of great thoughts on here as to how we could envisage our commemorative shirt and I would like to see a combination of ideas mentioned on this thread that is chronological of a “From and To” of our history. Such as the Sash representing our early years, the stripes representative in the sash through our years and our current badge representing our modern years. I think the design standing out to cover our history of these times is the one posted by Saint Fan CaM. I think a shirt like this would be worthy of our history and would look very nice in keeping with our past to present day.
  24. During the time since HMRC issued the WUP, have Pompey been in the position where they could have been able to make small goodwill payments to at least provide evidence that they were willing to try and reduce the tax that was owed so that the hearing could be looked upon more favourable on the 10th? Or have they blantently ignored the WUP, swept it under the carpet and just continued to spend on luxury they could ill afford, without any serious attempt of reducing the wage bill either? Could they have fielded younger up and coming players to get by whilst attempting to reduce debt and shipping higher earners out, to at least keep the club going as a concern next season whether it be playing in the Premier League or Championship, and was it really necessary not to name a full bench for a few of their games? I'm sure many of the younger players would have had squad numbers too that could have filled it. Have they provided any evidence at all that they have done anything, even at a drastic cost cutting measure to show that have done everything within their means to reduce debts or had at least tried too? Or has everything just been one massive gamble to stay in the Premier League and hope that everything turns out ok? If so I'm not sure the hearing next week will look favourable despite having a change of owner when more could probably have been done over the last several weeks to show the HMRC that they understood fully the situation they found themselves in. Surely ever since the WUP was issued, shouldn't Pompey have at least demonstrated a serious attempt to reign in spending and actually start addressing the debt they are in without 4 star hotels, flights to games, and more players coming in whether on loan or not when they can't pay the squad and the staff they have, and all the smaller business around the club further to the taxes that go with it all?
  25. Must admit, I felt a little sympathetic for the decent fans of Pompey after reading this post on one their forums... Its typical,Man city get the rich Arab,we get the TWO poor ones,Birmingham get a wealthy Hong Kong buisnessman who wants to do well and invest,we get a Hong Kong buisnessman who gets the club by de-fault,Chelsea get a very rich Russian,we get a dodgy one. http://www.portsmouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=9986&start=1
