  1. I think that Pards will try to sign him on loan .... he's sign him before!
  2. That was very traumatic for me, I had to endure the whole trip home wearing the stench of tomato sauce. Ever since (>30 years), I've not been able to touch the stuff & can't bear the smell.
  3. Did he mean Newcastle?
  4. Walcott, Bale, AOC, Dyer, Surman, Crouch, Higgy, Delap .... I'd take the first 5
  5. Berbatov? I don't like signing players from relegated teams 'cos they seem to have a habit of getting relagated again (eg: Quashie, Parker), but if we had to, how about: Jarvis, SWP, Junior Hoilet.
  6. With Steve already on, what's the plan B?
  7. I'm OK - just got up here. It's going to be a hot NYE. COYS!
  8. Great composure. Played a bit like a midfielder. Played for us in a back 3/5. Would do well in todays game. One mistake a game though.
  9. Only if you can share your seat with someone else ... Lucy Pinder maybe?
  10. Jeez Eric , that brings back some hazy memories ....
  11. Every day I worry that a big four (or is it five or six?) club is going to make an offer we/he can't refuse. Roll on the end of the transer window!
  12. I can't wait to get to work this morning - Posh, Sheff Utd & Derby fans can suck it up! If you see me on the Monash (soton3) give me a honk!!!!
  13. This is a classic saints style Banana skin game
  14. I'm in. I'll keep watching this thread for updates. The 'dickens was good fun for the first couple of wc2010 games. But then we moved base to the Pub @ Glen Waverley 'cos it had bigger screens and cheaper beer and taxi rides.
  15. Ivan Golac's home debut, first game back in the top flight, 2-2 vs Bolton.
  16. Oooh - hang on, I'm ahead. I'll bet you've still got more hair than me though!
  17. Watch out Eric of Arabia, I'm catching you up! 4-1 vs the Posh also won me a strawberry cheescake! COYMS
  18. Of course we've got the i'net here. It makes life 'downunder' bearable. Saintsweb is my (and Eric's and many others) only link to what other fans really think/say/feel on a regular basis. Through accidents of work/ marriage/ expellation etc, we can't discuss the real serious issues with workmates/ blokes down the pub, etc. I love saintsweb. Quick - hit me for $5 while i'm still pis#ed, but you need to fix the 'can't accept gmail' thing!
  19. Took my first serious GF to Saints first game back in the first division in about 79/80, we stood under the scoreboard in the West stand/ Archers corner. If memory serves me correctly it was Bolton Wanderers, 2-2, & Ivan Golac's first home game. It was (probably) her first football match & started her on a lifelong love affair with the mighty Saints (our love, maybe sadly, didn't last as long). I understand she is now NI's better half (oh, & a note for Turkish - she was (is) smart, cute & did not fit your b***sh#t stereotypes). Would you really wish a lifetime of the trials, tributlations & downright pain on someone you cared for? First game for second serious GF was 3-1 vs West Ham, Steve Williams scored a (rare) screamer from about 30 yards. I don't know what she's doing now. The wife has never been to a Saints game & has dragged me to the other side of the planet. Even when we visited last year, she chose the spend game time with my mother (!!!!!!!). She does, however keep me supplied with official & unofficial merchandise for birthdays & christmas.

    Plan B

I have to admit that, having only downloaded his albums from the other side of the planet, i thought he was black, a dizee rip off (1st album) and a Marvin Gaye copycat (2nd album). Imagine my surprise when I saw a picture of a white kid in a recent Q!. Anyway, back to NA, - anyone who can win promotion from this league on a budget "playing football" MUST have several strategies to get the best out of limited resources. Remember too, that our first win last season was 2-0 vs Yeovil on, or around the 20th Sept (i know 'cos I was there and turned 50 on that day). NA has time - there's no need to panic yet.
  21. Good on yer boys - I would be there myself - but it's a long way to come from Melbourne. Just got back from a week at Hamilton Island - sh*t it's freezing down here! Any Victory Saints wanna meet & drink a toast to the great man - our saviour- prior to the next AAMI fizzer?
  22. I've not read all of the previous 18 pages of this thread, I live on the other side of the planet and I know who Nick is but he probably doesn't know me. So I admit I don't understand the politics. But i do know that Nick's a lifelong Saints fan who's probably spend tens of thousand of pounds over the years following the Saints, and therefore, unless there's some legitimate safety or legal (eg:threatening behaviour, indecent exposure, etc, etc) reason to deny him entry to St Mary's he should not be denied entry. It's a civil liberty issue. I'd be mortified if they told me I couldn't support my team. Nick must be suicidal.
  23. If Oxl-ch is good enough then he's the man either/both as wide & pacey & as support striker. Pards may choose to look no further. How does he (Oxl-ch) compare with Wallcott when he was here? The biggest worries for me are if Lambert or Hammond / Spiderman get long term injuries - do we need to buy or are there some other likely lads from the academy? (i don't think so - we're probably a couple of years away from having our Barca-style production line bear fruit) Currently, if Lambert & (say) spiderman are injured, then the first team midfield & forwards may be: Pucheon, Hammond, WOTTON, Lallana; Barnard, Connolly. Spot the weak link !!!!
  24. Giggs and Scholes - a nice south coast semi-retirement project for them. Don't laugh - Our past is littered with classy former internationals who did agjfu-Remember the div2 promotion team from the late 70's? - Ball, Osgood, Mccalliog. Then later there was Charlie George, Franky Worthington, and the returning Channon. Then there was Jimmy Case ...
  25. In another world, Man Ure and Chelski have less technically capable teams visit that try to stifle their way to a bore-draw. Sometimes this happens, mostly not, that is why Manure and Chelski finish in the top two. We do, however, need to make sure we avoid a 'Leeds wobble' where they are quick out of the traps but fall a the final hurdle (**jeez I'm going to make the Guinness BOR with all these analogies in a single sentence**). Finally, supporting the saints has never been easy, so I'll bet we'll scrape promotion through a play-off final penalty shoot out. But We'll win the JPT again, make the semi's of the league cup & be knocked out of the FA cup by Chandlers Ford Juniors.
