Villa have signed Okore ...really good signing that... they seem to be going after some really good young talent...quite jealous of that one...£4 mill on Okore is i predict going to be a lot better than £4 mill for our Norweigan... We were told all signings were going to be done by July 1st...looking unlikely now, barring a late flurry. I just hope we are going after quality young players who want to come to the club...not big names who just string the club along we need to get going on signings soon...the boys will be back in training in 2 weeks
-
I would love us to go after young Danish defender Jores Okore...he would be superb...otherwise Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik from Rennes fits the bill of a young dominating quick centre half
-
have to say not keen on a centre half who can't dominate in the air...Crouch was all over our centre halves on the last day and i was hoping we could get a centre back who has pace and get dominate in the air... Fonte is not great in the air and neither is Yoshida
-
Saint Charlie...i vividly still remember the Javier De Pedro saga that ruined my summer...or when we desperate for a left winger and went after Da Marcus Beasley...only to end up with that footballing genius Neil McCann...i remember my mate who was a photographer for Saints telling me he couldn't even beat the Eastleigh right back, confirmed what i already knew...he was toilet...that is when you need FM to escape the brutal reality...ha ha
-
yeah can't see Cresswell im afraid...we only need a back up left back and could get one on a free or for far less on the continent...£5 mill for Cresswell, hillarious...he is not that good
-
Sorry but 51 goals in his last 2 seasons is a great return, even if it is the Dutch League. You are also forgetting he is a proven international who scores...and you still think he is a lower division signing?? please see below http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1659718-why-jozy-altidore-was-the-us-star-player-against-germany
-
silly comment Le God...he has clearly improved significantly in the last few years... My god when Bale first moved to the Spuds, they thought he was awful...how things change...whilst im not saying he has Bale ability...he is certainly a top class forward who scores 25 plus in the Dutch league and internationally...personally i would take him in a hearbeat...add to the fact he already speaks the language and would fit in quickly and surely he has got to be a good option
-
Was watching the USA's game last night and can't help but feel that Altidore would be a quality addition. Big lad, can hold the ball, scored a lot of goals for AZ in the Dutch league this year and is very quick and powerful... Definitely feel he would be an excellent addition...

simple reason we will be largely ignoring championship is thus 1/ We no longer have an English manager at the helm therefore won't know the lower leagues and will have to rely on our scouts which he won't do as he is accountable for all signings 2/ The manager will want to make his own signings and stamp on the team and therefore go to a market that he knows well 3/ Laudrup effect has shown you can buy effectively and cheaply from Spain 4/ Over inflated prices domestically...Rodriguez worked but Adkins had a hard on for him for years...there are only a handful of Championship players who would be an up grade for us and they want silly money 5/ Suffering economies of Southern Europe...Spain, Italy, Greece etc are all in trouble and their football clubs are suffering too...means far better value 6/ Manager knowledge and scout internal scout knowledge - South America and Southern Europe There is 6 reasons...trust me we will not be buying Will Buckley from Brighton...that is a relic rehashed from the Adkins days boys
-
Buckley to Saints??? are you guys kidding...WE WONT BE SIGNING ANY DOMESTIC PLAYERS GUYS...get it Im sure we could go to La Liga and get a player twice as good for half the price...Laudrup has set the blueprint mark my words
-
shame that Aspas looks off to Liverpool...we were very much in the mix for his services
-
Agree Broken bus...definitely value there...i like the look of Altidore as well...quick forward and good size...just what we need Figuroa on a free would be perfect for us surely??? great cover for Luke
-
Guys talk of Sharp coming back is crazy...forget it...he is not good enough Can't help thinking that the player who could make the most difference to our team is someone like Wilfried Bony...powerful, quick forward man in the Lukaku/ Benteke role we need to inject pace and penetration into this team...Bony would probably cost anything between £12-14 million and 10 clubs are interested...but everyone needs a modern forward who can lead the line and he would be perfect to lead the line for us
-
hope you are joking...useless player and nowhere near good enough i think everyone needs to cool it on links to players in this country...likely to be serie A or La Liga and under the age of 25/26

Interesting....seems Valencia have put Rami and Cissokho on the transfer list... Cissokho would be a quality addition at left back and Rami would be superb at centre half http://www.soccernews.com/valencia-place-rami-cissokho-on-transfer-list/120576/? Also seems like Espanyol midfielder Wakaso is in high demand...wonder whether MoPo is interested?? http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/everton-target-espanyol-midfielder-wakaso-mubarak-marca/?

I think Scott Sinclair is a very good player...he would suit our style of football and his little brother plays here also which helps...however i can't help but feel that wages would be an issue. He is currently on a reported £60k a week which is pretty hefty...and while i think he would take a pay cut to come to Saints...would he take below say £45k?? i would say not...which means he could come on loan and City could supplement his wages or he takes a big wage cut...i don't see us going for loans. A player like Lens would probably cost a similar amount to Sinclair...7-8 million euro but would probably take a lower wage...around 20-30k i would think... and we would be getting an established international... Be interesting to see where we go...i imagine a pacy winger must be very high on MP's summer wish list
-
i have to disagree Matty...i think what the season showed us is that we played very well in patches but seemed to lack a plan B...also our high tempo playing style means we need to have a large squad as our players won't be able to maintain that over an average 45 game season. Whilst we definitely need another centre back...we have no cover at right back...we need cover at left back as Fox is not good enough...we need another defensive midfielder to fill in for Morgan/Cork...definitely need more pace with a winger and i would argue that we need a big physical pacey striker as Mayuka is not likely good enough... we have a nice spine to the team but we need 5/6 players this summer
-
I think Honda's deal runs out in December this year so they will be looking to get a fee and £4mill has been mooted or losing him on a free...would sell a lot of shirts but the boy can play too
-
i would be happy with Astori or Ogbanna at centre half, Naingollan or Wanyama in defensive midfield...would love a playmaker like Honda (available for around £4mill) as well Definitely think that Lens is a great shout for the wing position...Zarate (has he been linked?) is a good player and Aspas (strongly linked) would also be a good striker acquisition... Other than that i think we need a cover right back and left back...
-
Im not convinced we are gonna go after Austin. I think the scouting remit has changed since Poch's arrival and we will be seeing him stamp his own mark on the team... As i mentioned i have heard very strong links to Aspas...but wouldn't be surprised if we went after the likes of Vela, Dos Santos, Griezmann...and maybe Moreno or Forlin from Espanyol
-
no price tags mentioned but i would of thought it would be at least 8 million euro...as he is on the verge of Spanish National team... Will see if i can probe for more info
-
A good friend of mine is a football agent and he told me about a few days ago...we face competition from Swansea for his signature... but at 25 years old and very versatile...he would be a superb buy if we can pull it off
-
Clyne is a superb right back...England quality no doubt...i see us only bringing a cover right back as he is the first choice. I think we need a left back far more as Shaw is very young and can't be relied upon to play 30 games a season. Have heard we are strongly linked to Aspas and are looking to wrap up the signing...Celta have been relegated and he can play in the hole or up front and is very highly rated http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iago_Aspas
-
Sorry Saint Charlie but there is no way Richardson is getting any game time...he will be sold at the end of the season and is another relic of our league 1 days Schneiderlin is fit and will play...Saints will look to bolster the centre of midfield this off season and get depth at both full back positions. Richardson is a championship player

Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
MerceSaint28 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Happy to hear these things...but this can only happen if he gets serious backing in the transfer market... The core squad is pretty strong but it's clear we still need a few top class players to push on
