  1. Peter Storrie is a complete A hole. I for one laughed when i read the story. He really is a very smug little man, who remmebers this Published Date: 30 June 2008 Peter Storrie has laughed off suggestions Southampton beat Pompey in the race for Morgan Schneiderlin. The France under-19 skipper had claimed he had turned down a move to Fratton Park from Strasbourg. Instead he opted for St Mary's, where he put pen to paper on a four-year deal on Friday. Schneiderlin's decision to snub the Blues has been met with delight among gloating supporters from Pompey's bitter rivals. It's news to Storrie, though. The Blues' chief executive had never previously heard of the 18-year-old, let alone attempt to broker a move. And he couldn't contain his amusement to hear the player suggesting otherwise. He said: 'It's absolute rubbish, I have never even heard of him. 'Are they having a laugh? Is it April 1 or something? We've never been after such a player. To suggest otherwise really is rubbish. 'Why would anyone ever choose Southampton ahead of Portsmouth in the first place, no offence meant. 'I would certainly know if we had made an approach for him and that is definitely not the case. 'It's all rather amusing, really.' How the tables have turned on the red faced bloater
  2. Completely agree Super, Puncheon is absolute class at this level and even Championship. What Plymouth are doing lettting him go on loan i have no idea.. Anyway he can play central or left midfield and i think we start making enquiries now. The guy is always a menace and i think he would be a great addition
  3. Well i think you lot are mad if you think we have enough pace in our team. Waigo is not a regular starter, for whatever reason. We are looking at players to come into the first team and make a difference. Currently the first 11 does not have enough pace. Evidently clear from the Millwall game, hypo, speed kills in football simple.
  4. Disagree Doddsy. If you saw the game at Milwall, 2 things stood out. 1/ Lack of pace up front with Lambert. Waigo is not that quick, but is an excellent squad player to fit into many different positions. 2/ Lack of power in midfield. Abdou bossed our midfield and i still feel Morgan is too weak in phsical sitautions. A genuine ball winner with some pace would be great here. Barnard - Very similar to Connelly and lacks pace Lisbie - Has pace but is old (31 years) and would be a short term option Hooper - Great outside bet, not on the radar and at an unfacied club. Decent pace and excellent finisher, a real dark horse i feel. Jackson - The fans choice - Has the killer pace and finishing ability but comes with a hefty price tag and wage packet, plus other clubs in higher divisions are interested.
  5. He was not very good first time round and it like's an ex girlfriend, you never go back!! GET REAL PEOPLE!!! Abdou of Millwall please
  6. JIMMY ABDOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Completely bossed our midfield yesterday. Quick, strong and good in the tackle, need i say more........
  7. im amazed having gone to the game yesterday, no one has mentioned Jimmy Abdou of Millwall. Cracking holding player, quick, strong, good in the tackle and completely bossed our midfield. I think he would be perfect Thoughts?? Also skightly contreversial i would sell Schniederlin, he is too weak. Skillful and would look great in an Arsenal type set up but not in div 1 against physical teams like Millwall. Also, serious lack of pace up front alongside Ricky, Jackson anyone???
  8. Guys i think Jackson would be the dream signing for most Saints fans. A look at his goals shows he needs to play with a target man, that being Lambert. I really feel we could do with an injection of pace up front and Jackson would be a player who would not only be good enough for this league, but the Championship and possibly higher. He has had a slight goal drought lately which may work for us and put other clubs off ie QPR/ Wolves who were looking. Barnard would be cheaper but he is slower and i feel Jackson would be a better fit. Of course its all down to finance as i imagine the Gills want upward of £1.5 mill for him especially as Dagenham his old club have a 20% sell on clause. I feel he will go in this window, but this one might run a little while longer, as the Gills will try and hold out for as much cash as possible. I feel we only need 2 more players now, another striker and another midefielder Ideal Scenario : Jackson/ Stock or Danns
  9. Personally i think this is a bit worrying and possibly the first piece of bad business the club has done under the new ownership. Why go through the whole process of agreeing terms with the player and the club if we were not going to go through with it??? Ward would of cost nothing and come on an 18 month deal, Seabourn cost 250k and would of been cheaper in wages but overall Seabourn cost more not less than Ward. If we had wanted Seabourn from the start, i have no problem with that, it would never of been a problem signing him as Exeter are a tiny club. Clearly Ward was first choice and unless he failed a medical which was reported, i think this was a pretty unprofesional thing to do by Saints and Coventry are rightly fuming. Personally im not convinced by Seabourn, i hope to be proved wrong. I don't see why we are buying projects when we can afford to buy the complete article especially in a depressed market. Well lets hope we can some damn pace in this team as its slow in all areas
  10. Any news on the Stock front?? A guy on football rumours claims he will join West Ham on a free at the end of the season. I wouldof thought Doncy want the cash for him now, it seems to of gone quiet. Well if he is going to sign before Millwall,it has to be tommorow afternoon at the latest
  11. Fishy - i just think this is a strange one. We have a lot of squad players and any new signings need to be better than what we have. Now Ward, Danns, Stock are definitely better than what we have. I agree that we don't need to buy players from big clubs just for the sake of it and i do trust Pardew which is something i think i never did with other managers but i don't get this one. Looks like a done deal, i hope he know what he is doing. I would not complain if Seabourne comes in with Ward and potentially Stock and Danns but surely that means at least one defender is out, most likely Thomas. We will see..
  12. That is a bit dissapointing. Being linked with some of the players we have been i feel pretty under whelmed. I think we need to be making a statement and not buying small fry from tiny teams. Their board don't rate him highly at all and that worrys me. Obviously you take some of it with a pinch of salt but im sure we can do better than this guy does this mean the Ward deal is off??? and what about right back?? My worry is that we get a rolls royce of a defender in fonte and now look like buying a sierra. What is going on???????????
  13. Interesting http://www.expressandstar.com/2010/01/11/mcsheffrey-set-to-leave-birmingham/
  14. WE ARE BACK IN THE MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat me to it Ron Manager!
  15. Agree Mockles. I live in London and get to as many games as i can but the thing Saints really lack is pace and have so for the last 8 years. The last player of genuine pace (apart from Walcott of course who was only here 5 minutes) was Camara on loan. I think teams with pace on the flanks really expose us down the full back positions. James is not a right back and has no pace, Harding struggles for pace also. Even up front, no one has that electric pace and i really feel we need that. Last year we had the awful combination of no pace and no power, at least with the signings of Lambert, Jaidi and Hammond we are stronger. Of the signings mooted it looks like Pericard is a done deal. I am not over the moon with this signing but if he has been brought in as back up to Lambert and we are still going to bring another striker ie Barnard or Jackson, i think it will be a decent signing as Pericard could be a decent squad player BUT ONLY IF WE GET ANOTHER STRIKER. I think Midfield is another worry, if anything happens to Hammond, i would really worry that is why Lines or Danns would be needed. I would prefer Danns of the two. I also think Puncheon would be a fantastic signing, powerful, direct and scores goals. He is on loan at MK but Plymouth may sell, so it could be done. In defence, we all know we need at least one more centre half, however the right back slot must be considered. Time for Pards scouts to earn their corn and dig up a right back with pace. Pards its over to you. 8 days before Millwall away, would be nice to have 2 or 3 in before then as the games against Norwich/Colchester and Leeds show we are not strong enough yet
  16. Sorry guys Utaka won't happen. The Morrons down the road were paying him 80k a week allegedly and he is not that good. I hope we get one or both of Ward or Fonte, Danns in midfield and Jackson up front. I still really worry about that right back slot also so the boy Logan on loan from City with view to permanent would be nice
  17. Pericard close to joining according to solent twitter!
  18. Okay trying to getr back to reality rather than the fantasy some of you on here seem to weave. I think we arguably need 2 strikers, a big physical specimen with pace to and a lightning fast striker to play off Lambert. With this in mind, what about Calvin Zola from Crewe and for the other striker, Barnard as the cheaper option, or Jackson or Libie if we are pushing the boat out. Midfield needs an injection of muscle and pace, as does the defense. Moussi from Forest would be great, or maybe someone like Anthony Grant from Southend. In defense it looks like Ward is the target but i am terrified about the pace or lack of our full backs so a right back is a priority. I see Shaleum Logan branded about as being a quality replacement.
  19. He is not our player any more, GET OVER IT!!!!!!
  20. hum Elliot Ward?? does this mean Trotman is going back? personally i think Ward is a solid player but Trotman is younger and has more potential. Trotman is the rough diamond who can climb the leagues with us
  21. I think this is a good post and something i have considered myself. I truly beleive any signings we make have to be as atleast or better than what we alreadyt have. First and foremost there is deadwood in the squad which needs to go Saga Molyneux Pulis Gillet Forecast Lancashire There is six players for a start that should leave coming in i think we only need 3 Totman - permanent 750k Antonio - permanent 50k Simeon Jackson - 1.5 mill I would be over the moon with this in Jan. Basically you would not be upsetting the squad as 2 of the signings are already a part of the team and Jackson would be the marquee signing to push home our advantage and strike fear into the opposition. Imagine as a defender, having Lambert and Jackson facing you. Admittedly Jackson would be a big ask, if a prem or championship came sniffing then we might not get him but we can afford to triple his wages and im sure he can see a brighter future at SMS than at Gillingham so you never know.
  22. A point being that he is past it. Sorry but Perry is no longer up to scratch. If we cannnot sign Trotters, which i have not entirely rules out, we should look at the other talented centre halves in the league like young Tamika Mkawindra from Leyton Orient who scored against us. Having seen first hand the value of 2 bruising centre halves we do not want to revert to our old ways
  23. I see Vokes looks like he is off to Leeds, real shame, i would of loved him at SMS. Ideally we could loan or terminate Saga's contract and get Vokes in the mix. Imagine the triple headed monster of Lambert, Vokes and Lallana, with Waigo, Connelly and McLaggon straining at the leash. That would be a strong Championship threat, let alone div 1
  24. I really feel that Pardew is currently under performing right now. Whatever business you are in, if you have spent the money we have thus far plus the players he has inherited when he got here, to take 9 points from 10 games is very poor. Are we the only side that never seems to get a lift from a new manager?? i see Boothroyd is already weaving his magic at Colchester and likewise Lambert at Norwich so no more excuses about not having a pre-season etc. He has been given the money to spend and he has still not turned it round, how much longer should he have? we are short on pace, we are short on width and short on strikers. He should of dipped into the market to get a partner for Lambert, we are woefully short on goals and creation. He is also showing a horrible trait of picking favourites and excluding the likes of Holmes and Gillett who can do a job for us and are not getting a chance. I am all for stability but this is a results business. The season is already a write off, when we should of been aiming for 6th position and will now be low mid-table. I think it ultimately comes down to the owners, i don't think progress on a snail pace is going to be what Mr Liebherr wants. He wants to be watching Prem football with his pals in a few years, without being ungrateful i think he maybe needs to start putting his hand in his pocket again if we want quicker results. Overall i am not happy with Pards thus far, he says all the right things but actions speak louder than words. At the end of the day we were outdone by a former Torquay striker (Kuffour) who they got on a free and a Charlton reserve striker. Pards has been given the tools but he still can't make it work. I would give him until the Christmas period, if we are still in the bottom 3 he needs to go. We have lofty expectations for this club and they need to be matched by a manager who can get us there. The finger is twitching on the trigger but its not time to pull it yet
  25. Nineteen stop getting ideas above your station. You think you are an educated factual sports writer but are in fact a deluded WUM yourself. The fact you base my knowledge/age on the ammount of posts i write is laughable and shows your lack of inteligence. Supporters love thier club, however there is always a limit to the amount of abuse we can all take. Lowe ran the club into the ground, whats worse is that we didn't even spend any money doing it. He never understood that you need to speculate to accumulate. He treated fans with contempt, everything from lack of communication to trying to access club boards on 606 through a PR team but he always did it leaving a bad taste in the mouth. I was one who refused to watch the side when he was in charge and im proud of that. I refuse to fund that parasite, just look at how much him and his cronies stole from the club, scandalous. The simple fact is that in any job, to take a club who was in the top division for 28 years to then to the third tier inside 3 years, is a massive failure and you would be sacked. Wise up Nineteen canteen, no one here shares your views, so ****** off
