  1. Wow if we could pick up Ings for £5-6 million with a year left on his deal, that would be a great buy. He is a big Saints fan and would definitely come and fits in nicely with the club's vision
  2. I disagree that he is average...he has always played well when i have seen him...Roy clearly rates him alternatives - Begovic - top quality keeper but would Stoke sell?? would his agent think he can get champs league team? Jack Butland - good keeper, is he an upgrade on Boruc?? maybe not now but might be good to challenge him Mannone - Sunderland probably going down and is a decent keeper, available at a decent price Marshall - Decent keeper
  3. It's time we started concentrating on transfers in, rather than transfers out Some on here and the media will have you believe we only deserve to sign 2-3 players...but we need more than that. Most of the reason we suffered in the mid part of the season and FA Cup is a lack of quality alternatives and squad depth. With Osvaldo leaving mid season, which meant essentially we only signed 2 players in the whole of 2013 and some players contracts running down we need to do the following - Sell Osvaldo - Release Guly and sell Hoiveld, Yoshida and Gazzaniga - Give new contracts to Cork, Rodriguez, Lallana, Clyne and all our young stars - Sign a quality Goalkeeper - I like Forster from Celtic - Sign a new squad left back...this will change to 2 left backs IF Shaw is sold - Sign one quality centre back to partner Lovren and a young centre back to provide competition and cover - Sign a quality attacking midfielder...ideally with pace...an attribute we are sadly missing in the side - Sign a top quality striker...hardest thing to find...ideally a front man with pace who can hold the ball up and run the channels in order to bring the midfield into play So overall i think we need to sign 6-7 players...not all first team...ideally 2/3 Key first team players Thoughts??
  4. I think Forster would be a great buy...really good keeper
  5. I don't know why this can't happen Saint Richmond?? The money is there from player sales and money from new TV deal...what i have written should be more than obtainable and improve Saints in the short and long term
  6. I am getting pretty sick of hearing of all the "outs" It is clear that Shaw may leave in the summer and we will probably be in the region of £25 mill better off for it....add Osvaldo at the tune of around £12 mill and we should be getting somewhere in the region of £37 mill straight off the bat and then have 5/6 fringe players contracts run out...add in the most lucrative Prem deal from Sky and BT Sport and Saints should have more than enough money to be extremely competitive. Why are players in such a rush to leave Saints?? we have 4 players in the England squad What we need to do - Give MoPo a lucrative new contract - replace Shaw with a quality LB and maybe another young left back for competition - Buy a quality centre back to partner Lovren...sell Hoiveld and Yoshida and get a second centre back as cover/ extra competition for Fonte - Give Cork/ Lallana/ Clyne/ Rodriguez/ Boruc new deals - Buy some attacking midfielders with some pace...we are still hugely lacking in this area - Buy a 15-20 goal a season striker...easier said than done...but the time to splash the cash on a young quick aggressive forward is now A guy like this is perfect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michy_Batshuayi I feel we will have enough money to keep our best players happy and enough to buy top talent... Losing Shaw is disappointing but manageable but losing Lallana would be a disaster -
  7. Sorry i disagree that it is tough to find bargains...with the level of technology available now...it should be easier than ever before and you should have less busts Take Michu for example...was bought for £2mill...the guy already had the most assists in La liga and scored 4/5th amount of goals...hardly an unknown quantity...just decent scouting. Benteke also...20 years old...built like the proverbial out house...scored loads of goals and picked up for a decent fee There is no excuses for ballsing up on players in my eyes...granted south Americans can be a bit of a punt...but generally Northern Europeans settle very well in England and if scouting is done correctly than they should be a good fit Mayuka, Forren was terrible scouting...Ramirez i can excuse as he was/is still a hot World prospect...and we all know that Osvaldo was a massive punt by the manager Overall though...just look at Dortmund as a shining example...who have mixed a great youth set up with clever scouting
  8. I don't quite understand why you think we will sell Schneiderlin or Clyne...seems crazy to me In terms of outs, we will get £15 mill for Osvaldo and around £30 mill from Chelsea for Shaw...so assuming those 2 outs happen....we will have £45 mill in the kitty...plus the new deal given to Prem clubs which is worth more than ever before...so conceivably we could easily spend upwards of £40 mill on new players We will sell Jos Hoiveld and hopefully Yoshida...plus lose Barnard, Sharp etc off the wage bill We will have absolutely loads of space available against what was a thinning squad anyway... what we need - - Cork and Clyne need new deals - We need two new left backs (one quality addition to replace Shaw and a back up) - New GK to push Boruc...Frazer Forster would be ideal - 2 new centre halves...one established International and one up and coming squad player - 2 new attacking midfielders...with pace, something we don't have much off - 2 new strikers...one quality striker...bags of pace and a finisher and one young gun, to push from the bench overall we probably need about 7 new players in the squad...it is a season where we need to improve the overall quality of the squad depth We should have plenty of money available to achieve this...and the much vaunted scouting system needs to start producing This is a critical window and we need to get it right
  9. Time for Guly to be moved on...he has been a good servant...but there is no need for passengers now we should be using that wage on a younger player who can benefit the team...time for us to start finding some young gems from Argentina and use MoPo's contacts
  10. I think Ince, Bamford, Ings, Hughes, Cresswell, Lascelles are good shouts
  11. I can't imagine we will make our own kit...if it were that profitable...then all the top clubs would do it and they don't
  12. I'm sorry but i don't buy into the summer bedding blah blah rubbish...most summer signings happen after pre season anyway Saints don't need wholesale changes...but you simply can't lose Puncheon, Fox, probably Osvaldo and then Lovren and Ramirez to injury and not replace them. All the best teams in the world keep improving window on window...it's called progress Saints can't just use the youth team for absolutely everyhting...it's great that we have this conveyor belt of talent but let it not be at the sake of results. Gallacher should be eased into the first team...not thrown in against Arsenal...he missed a sitter and might have cost us 3 points...harsh but true. We need a quality replacement for Osvaldo and then use Gallagher now and then...i like him...he will be the replacement for big Rick...maybe even in the summer but we need more quality now. It is so negative to simply say we are stuck in mid table...let's not sign anyone or improve...rubbish! exactly why we fell down the leagues after we got into 8th under Lowe...you always need solid investment to compete. We hear much about this vaunted scouting system...would be nice to actually to see some results...Lovren and Wanyam were great but you didn't need to be a scout to know that...Osvaldo epic fail. Time for MoPo to use his contacts in La liga and Argentina...come on Saints fan expect better
  13. Well i think it is pretty poor show...if we let Fox and most probably Osvaldo go...coupled with major injuries to Ramirez and Lovren and we won't be making any signings...very dissapointing not buying this rubbish that they don't fit into Saints mould player...like Osvaldo did?? seriously it sounds like the owners are being tight and not giving the manager the cash to make signings, when our rivals are getting stronger...if you want improvement then you have to get better players in
  14. Definitely not...Sunderland will get smacked in the final...i am very confident that we will win at their place and if anything happens to Adam Johnson i wouldn't be too confident of them staying up. Throw in to the fact that we have a much better squad...better academy and better manager and it is not even close i'm afraid
  15. Why are we not going after Ince??? quality player and available at a good price Stoke and Swansea sniffing...surely a great fit??
  16. Yes Jan is a tougher market...but certainly not impossible Newcastle did some great business this time last year and Cardiff look like they are doing some good business in this window...at least 5 new signings by the looks of it. We don't need major surgery but we certainly need a lift after a tough couple of weeks...a centre back and striker would be nice... If we want to stay in the top 10 and push for the FA Cup we need to keep improving...it's about time MoPo used his contacts in La Liga or Argentina to get some quality in
  17. Osvaldo is a very fiery charachter....Mo Po knew what he was getting I never felt Osvaldo was right for the club...we need a really quick forward who can run the channels and finish. Ba would be perfect...or someone like Mame Biram Diouf from Hannover...former Man Utd We could get him for a fraction of Osvaldo's cost and he would fit the system far better. Fortunately Osvaldo still has plenty of resale value and plenty of admirers in Italy...so a sale shouldn't be hard
  18. Alex Sandro to replace Shaw ;-)
  19. not good enough for me and hasn't been for a while. Can anyone explain why he was given a 3 year deal while Boruc only got a 2 year deal?? Personally i think we keep Boruc for next 3/4 years and look to bring in a younger higher quality keeper to challenge asap. Begovic would be perfect really. Davis/ Gazza will never be up to standard...too many mistakes
  20. Can't help thinking that seeming as Chelsea want Shaw so badly, we are in a great position to take some of their players... How does this sound - Luke Shaw plus £5mill for Kevin De Bruyne and Demba Ba Ba would be fantastic at Saints and give us the pace and finishing we need up top...always causes us problems. De Bruyne is a top quality attacking midfielder who can play anywhere in midfield and is a playmaker...obviously makes far too much sense so won't happen but just putting it out there
  21. It depends on who we play but right now Osvaldo has to play...he has great movement and is improving all the time certainly away to Newcastle, i think Dani will rightly start
  22. So that is bad news...i think Big Vic has been immense I am amazed at the amount of people on this forum who complain about Vic and think Cork should be in the team...well he will get his chance now. Time for Cork to stop whinging in the press and produce on the field...he wanted to play and now he will

    Left Back

Definitely think Aaron Cresswell fits the bill
  24. I have to say that this is seems another bizzare move...Mayuka and Puncheon have now gone and taken any pace we had left in the squad you would struggle to find a slower team in the Prem than Saints...the team has been painfully slow for the last 15-20 years...never learn though Really hope reports we aren't making another signing are short of the mark...
  25. Will be interesting to see if we make a move in the market again...overall it has been an excellent window. We have 3 key players who have strengthened our team's spine and made us stronger. With the youth team stepping up, we are in a very good place. I still worry about centre half and would certainly feel happier if we signed another centre back...as i am not wholly convinced by Fonte, Yoshida or Hoiveld. Obviously this would require another centre back to leave...most likely Jos. Left back is also a worry...Shaw is injury prone and it would be lovely to get an able young left back to compete with him as Fox is a Championship level player. Finally that leaves the vacant number 11 shirt and the loss of Puncheon. Whilst i am keen to promote the youth, we need to be mindful that we are still playing in an elite league and this needs to be done slowly. Ramirez needs to step up and be the guy to unlock doors...ditto Lallana...however with the links to Piatti, there could be some movement there. Obviously we would all love Banega, but i don't think we have the cash available to pull the trigger on this deal, so Piatti on loan with view to permanent sounds more realistic. I hope we do move for another player or two to cap off a great window. Unlike our other signings, they don't need to be key players but lower value players in important positions to provide depth and this will be very important to us in the context of the whole season
