  1. Regrettably I find this post from TL puzzling. Firstly, because I think GM's 'apology' is ironic and secondly that TL has taken it as genuine and felt the need to reply. Does TL respond to the 100's of comments about the takeover stories in the Echo as there has been a very anti-Pinnacle feeling building up on their website judging by the readers comments. TL is takiing the fan friendly communique's to whole new level far beyond what Leon Crouch even managed in an effort to gain popularity and I would prefer any senior person involved in the club's future at the present to conduct themselves through more accepted forms of media. Presumably, it will come out in the wash what was really behind the legal wranglings or whether it was a convienient smokescreen certainly Mark Fry didn't believe it was worthy of maintaining exclusivity for Pinnacle and rightly so and I would be interested to know exactly how much of the alleged 7 figure sum was spunked on fees that could have paid the staff last week. The fact TL stands 100% behind the stance he has taken leads me to conclude that I am 100% behind the Swiss or any other group who prefer to avoid fan's forums whilst concentrating on a complex business transaction. Has Fry become a registered user yet, is there a 'BT Saint' or 'It's Now Serious Saint'. Meanwhile, Game Set and Match to Guided Missile - right or wrong always a good read from a very clear and astute individual IMO, not Swiss is he?
  2. Bodes well for the Olympics showcasing British culture at it's best. Grown men in football shirts at the height of summer getting p155ed in loutish packs at a popular family seaside resort. Nice - hardly the cosmopolitan cafe culture we allegedly aspire to when on our holidays.
  3. Are you suggesting they are probably flogging a dead horse?
  4. Beware overtly pally Senior Execs. Is that the legal use of the word 'guys'? Presumably we have female posters? Perhaps he should start his message Guys and Gals...
  5. I agree and whilst it maybe welcome to receive his updates how many MD's would take time out of their hectic days (especially during a takeover) to post no news on a web forum? Personally, I find his behaviour odd and why not just communicate with the media and a wider audience? I believe Saint Bletch has called the reason for the delay correctly and whilst Tony Lynam talks about putting the club at risk if the legal issues are not resolved to his satisfaction has he considered the risk of letting the club sail rudderless into the new season? It maybe time for Pinnacle to sign or step aside regardless of their 7 figure spend which may not be such a grand total if they like to watch the pennies to look after the pounds.
  6. I may be thick but if the consortium did not pay the fee or had someone else pay on their behalf they are unlikely to be motivated by their potential loss of a £500k deposit. My opinion why the football league do not want to budge is because they are confident in their decision and do not want to grant a right to appeal not because of a weakness in their position but they don't want to drag the league through the courts and the ensuing hassle.
  7. The Bitterest Pill - The Jam It's hard to swallow Tony but accept the punishment and take the pill and make us all feel better.
  8. Based on what I understand to be the issue then I couldn't agree more with your post. To remain positive I can only conclude that there is probably a lot more to this than we are led to believe because not preparing properly during pre-season even for a club with an established set up would cost more than 10 points. To delay over a legal right to appeal a 10 point deduction would be poor judgement given the scenario now occuring at pre-season training, it must be something far more impactful and so for the time being we have to trust those leading the way.
  9. I just don't think the cost of appeal is worth the risk in monetary terms and presumably the risk of getting hit with a bigger deduction. I am hoping Pinnacle and MLT can deliver a set up capable of quite easily overcoming a 10pt deficit than focusing efforts on an appeal that could be a waste of energy and an unhelpful distraction. Also, in the wider football community it will be a far greater PR exercise if we can succeed whilst overcoming an unjust ban in our eyes as oppose to achieving success of the back of a technicality. I do appreciate your argument but it's 50/50 and therefore far from being clear cut and comes down I guess to what you would like to happen this time next year. For me promotion in the face of adversity would be twice as sweet as oppose promotion won in the High Court although ultimately promotion is the absolute must.
  10. Wise words with the possible exception the quoted percentage is a little high. I understood the FL's rules on holding companies was to protect clubs owned by a company with a diverse business portfolio. Should the parent company fold as a result of one of the club's sibling companies going bust the FC in question would remain protected from punishment. This maybe a very simplistic view but arguably it is a view that will be held by the wider football community and to my limited knowledge SFC although owned by a holding company did not form part of a wider business portfolio for SLH PLC at the time of administration. Please correct me if I am wrong and it would be interesting to know if there are clubs in the FL owned by a holding company with other business interests to make a theoretical comparison. Personally, I would like to see Pinnacle withdraw from debating the point and get on with running the club and use allocated funds set aside to mitigate the risk of a failed legal challenge as direct investment into the infrastructure of their new acquistion.
  11. I hope they just accept it otherwise they could end up fighting the FL's 'spirit of the law' clause and with an ex-director of SFC having already fuelled the FL's case it looks somewhat foolish to be wasting time on the issue. MLT has spoken of putting more into the club from a different perspective and there clearly have been some refreshings signs and equally worrying rumours. The emphasis on 'different perspective' cannot be stressed enough and the words must be turned into delivery.
