A main 'soccer' site over here that lots of us use is the ESPN soccernet, this week's article of interest makes painful reading. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=597014&sec=england&root=england&cc=5739

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best CBs.
TijuanaTim replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Mark Wright and Killer...really rate Watson, but tbf Nichol was much better for Saints than Big Dave. McGrath was brutal but had no skill, Knapp was a liability, Steele was very average at the top level and Docker was a cult hero at best. Agboola was kinda great for a couple of seasons and Santa made all his partners look stars. -
Hmm, thanks Gordy and expertly explained....how much debt now would you say?
-
Next time in Naples - I'm there dude!!
-
So it says 28,090,000 'shares in issue', at roughly 25p a pop. For clarification purposes - say you acquire the 7 mil and change and buy them, what does that give you as far as ownership of Saints/Southampton Leisure? And what else is Southampton Leisure besides Southampton Footbal Club???? Just asking like, y'know need t'know.
-
Saints in Naples!! I love that place. I was down there in the Spring, what a lovely place. Is there a 'soccer-friendly' bar there that you can watch Saints on Setanta etc??
-
Enjoy your Pumpkin Pie! Obsessed and desperate FAF...I offered to meet you, buy you a drink and shake hands with you last time I was over, so that we could be see what each was really like. Surprise - surprise, you bottled it...so my stalking friend what is 'cringeworthy' is the cowardly way you hide in the cyber shadows casting aspersions about people and things you fantasize and obsess over and yet know nothing of. Focus on something positive mate...or just keep an unhealthy fixation on me if you want, quite flattering really.

Despite being in FLA, my office is in tha LBC (Long Beach) where an eternal part of Southampton lives on...no not TT or BishOfAThousandBudweisers, the Queen Mary!! The nae sayer don't bother me, I truly wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving for what it's worth. Good/better times are coming I'm sure...oh, and the other thing I wanted to say thanks for is all the encouragement and words of support you have sent in helping us with Big Ron!!
-
I am also thankful for you my obsessed friend, y'hero comes on here and and brightens your mundane life on a regular basis and you never fail to post something obtuse, deperately seeking y'hero's response...which out of the kindness of my heart I give. Keep it up!! BTW (just in case you have not researched and already discovered, which I doubt) I am currently over in Florida, so I'll post 3 hours earlier for a little while... And and 'spurned'...FAF

Well what is it I may be giving Thanks for today...well besides the obvious (health - happiness etc). Thankful that we stayed up last season, thankful that we (so far) have staved off bankruptcy, thankful we play beautiful football and mostly thankful for our dozens of wonderful young players that excite, play skillfully, with heart and it is easy to relate to and get behind!! We are Southampton - The pride of the South...
-
Now that's a doctrine we all should embrace.
-
I only can listen here and yet it was so exciting, don't you just want these nippers to do well? Hope you can relate to them like I can. Don't know what we can do or how it can be done, but if somehow we can believe in these kids at SMS maybe - just maybe we can help take the pressure of them at home and we can replicate our away form. Let's face it, this team can really play, we've all seen it. It is totally a 'mental' thing at home. WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON THE PRIDE OF THE SOUTH ...well, you know the rest!!

what colour are we wearing?

This is a fascinating interview with Big Ron about those halcyon days http://www.giveittoron.co.uk/rdint.htm . Since this interview and due to the generous help of an anomamous friend, we have had Ron's teeth fixed to comply with US asthetic requirements (bad joke there, actually because of his surgeon's request - something to do with potential post-op infection). Also he now has his new left hip and will soon be getting his righ done. Ron is even more upbeat and happy, he and his wife Chris's lives - because of the intervention of many of you lot, is vastly improved. He is healthy, even happier, living in an improved environment and (though still poor) much more financially stable. Please check out the rest of the Give It To Ron site also...awesome way to while away some time.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best LB.

Unbelievable Left Backs Peachy - Bridger and Bale, but no one, I repeat no one comes close to Psycho. Mark Dennis was the final piece of a great Saints jigsaw that witnessed us coming agonisingly close to a double. He was the harder, fittess and most skillful defender i've ever seen in red and white. As a bonus, he made the need for a left winger/midfielder/half back almost redundant with his superb sortes up field. If he wasn't...well...er...a 'Psycho' he would have undoubtedly been England's #3 for a generation. Worth the admission alone!! -
A mate just called me and said people were looking for that link on here. This is a must see for all Saints http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9024836154390592659&q=ron+davies Man U defence once again being Saints *****es!! And don't forget to visit the Give It To Ron site... http://www.giveittoron.co.uk/

Thanks Andy for sharing that, sending all that and even more for the work that you and the others do behind the scenes back there. Ron told me that him and Chris his wife read and looked at everything he was sent. He cherished and appreciated the sentiments. At this stage because of his surgeon's understandably cautious nature, Ron is looking at another two months + before his second hip replacement. He has made excellent progress, he is in less discomfort and is also living in a better situation.

Saints Greatest ever XI - Goalkeeper Nominations.

I say it is an ill wind that blows no good. This CCC is a very physical and aggressive division, something we do not excel at. Maybe and finally the FA will embrace 'parity' of tolerance for what is allowed throughout the whole league, Prem and down. More scrunity towards the Blade defender's type of brutal challenge should help ensure our talented, ball-playing nippers can thrive more. Crazy as it may seem can't help but think our game is more suited towards, maybe not good enough, but more suited towards Prem style play and opponents.
-
Completely different set of circumstances.....not an appropriate comparison.
-
Sorry, maybe should be Part II
-
I believe that he should maintain the COMMITTMENT - AWARENESS - PREPARATION & STRATEGY theme. Also obviously injecting confidence, concentration, challenge, opportunity, faith in talent and execution into his briefing. One change from last week "Teammates, now we have exhibited, as pre-determined last week, the strength of character, fortitude and skillful ability to come back from behind I want you to NOT have to use that. Be more diligent at the back at critical times. We will NOT concede, so therefore not have to come from behind!!" Onward and upward with Jan's Red & White tornado of youth!!
-
Let's hope for peace and stability and that leads to better times with Saints as a result.

Now gradually the global financial crisis will ease up. People will get slightly more disposable income again to spend through the turnstiles at St Marys hopefully and also maybe Americans and American players will be more warmly received.
