Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best Right Forward/Striker
TijuanaTim replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Big Ronald Tudor Davies...oh and that youngster from Wiltshire, Channon is it? For the record Ron votes for big Chiv too. -
In my humble opinion and experience if you make someone feel one grain better after speaking to them than before there is a way higher instance of improved performance - especially with young and impressionable. Put people in situations that they can succeed in and make them even better at what they do well, rather than work on weaknesses that they may never master. Make the players feel good and then get the strategy correct at Staplewood.

Say what you want mate, I'm happy, positive and upbeat. So happy new year.

Full house - good support. Team in red and white played admirably. Team in blue are World Champs. Team in black were totally p!ss poor. The first goal was offside period-point blank (even though horribly defended) The second goal was not a peno in a month of blue Sundays and if the abortion of a ref had one tenth of one per cent of a doubt he shouldn't have given it. The red card - er, yeah it was a red, however, wtf was that pencil-necked, bald-headed tool doing bring the kid over and lecturing him before finally after a frigging eternity showing him the card....let me enlighten you, the worthless excuse for an official is a complete attention whore and wanted a worldwide audience to witness yet another of his controversies....oh and where was the scarlet square when Evans took out our player when he was the last man...oh I forgot it's Mank U and you can't do that. Listen Reid, you 9-karat c**t...United are the World's best team and don't need your considerable help!! Yes they were 3 goals better than us, but they are the best and will do that to higher teams than Saints...however not like that. We were excellent between the boxes, just weak in both penalty areas. KD was awesome, Chris Perry was commanding and there were good showings from many of the kids. Jan is a fine coach, trying to do his best with limited or no resources and a group of children. It's frustrating losing, but I for one admire what Jan/the boys are trying to achieve and feel passionately that I can really get behind this team. So spin it good Jan, make them feel like heroes after this effort.

Clint didn't...but in my weird rationale Saints did!!
-
Y'know the new Clint Eastwood movie...awesome, however it's a movie and they can write any ending they want...it was enjoyable. It would be really great if everyone goes and 'enjoys' themselves tomorrow at the game. We won't have a 'movie' ending and we will in all probability be beaten. Everyone that knows me will tell you that I am the most optimistic and positive of all Southampton fans. Let's face it though, we all playing the English - European and World club champions. We desperately want the boys to triumph or take a replay, however there is little chance of this. There is, all the same, the opportunity to play well, proudly, passionately and to try in everyway to exceed expectations. It is also best that all the long suffering fans watch with a realistic level of what the team should achieve. So go and enjoy the good the boys do, relish every challenge, cheer every good pass, encourage them all the way. Most of all enjoy the occassion, away from work, having a sherbet or two with friends and watching the red & whites in the World's most historic tournament. Just don't expect a miracle, expect a good effort...that's all. Sorry, not trying to be a downer....oh, for the record if fortunate to coach these admirable young men, I wouldn't be saying that - I would be telling them that they possess potential greatness and there will be 32,000 + there and 100's, literally 100's of millions worldwide witnesses that can see them perform a miracle and become immortalized.

When Matty scored that fantastic last goal .v. The @rse was the last time I saw Kevin. He was with some the older lot, Ponty etc. As we walked away he was telling how glad he was we were leaving the Dell, he felt is was a dump that held us back for years...no sentiment there FFS. I've heard of him from time to time but ain't seen him in donkey's so I hope he is ok, now I see Ace every time I'm home.
-
Andy is 53-4 now. Still a Saint no doubt, anyone still see him at the games? Wonder if he goes away - probably not else I would have run into him...someone ask Stroudy or I'll call him later.
-
...scored for Millwall today, funny I thought he was a bit old for that and Saints thru'n'thru as well ;-)
-
Also...should be an article coming up about Ron (maybe Saturday) in the Guardian by Lawrence Donegan...

Well first of all Big Ron wishes everyone a very Happy New Year (me too). Next, here are his thoughts on Sunday's big Cup fixture, first of all he wants everyone to enjoy the day, players and fans alike. Ron thinks that is the key, great things happen in cup ties and even though we're (apparently) on a hiding to nothing, while there is faith there is also hope. He genuinely loves the Southampton fans and really believes with the positive and fervant backing you can create that you not only can, but WILL be a major factor in making it a hostile and passionate environment that may - just may intimidate any faint of heart squad players that Man U may trot out. Obviously Ronaldo-Rooney-Scholes etc and not going to be bothered, but you could have a added-value affect creating a heightened atmosphere with the likes of Rafael-Evans-Wellbeck and Possebon and suchlike (if selected). Here's a reminder of what you can do to Manchester United, the European Champions, even with donkeys like Tony Byrne, Ken Jones and Frank Saul in the side. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9024836154390592659&q=ron+davies Make it a great day win, lose or draw and have fun. Saints Greatest XI - Best Left Midfielder Poll
TijuanaTim replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Armstrong is the consumate modern left side midfielder and a class of his own, but had to vote for Sydy...who else is gonna work that hard up and back + supply Saints greatest ever forward and goalscorer Big Ron with the ammo? -
Yeah Saintsburn .v. Man Sheikty...good one too.
-
Well I guess the first part of the dream has come good with a sell out, now let's do at least one of the following Win (allow us to dream) Draw (the best financial outcome) Give a proud performance (at the very least) ...most importantly give the wonderful, long-suffering Saints fans a top day!!
-
Thank you to the youngsters, now come on you young lions, let's start picking up three and four points from lesser teams so that we can move on and relax a bit. Come on you can do it!!
-
Yeah I was predictable huh....Tune in and listen to the Saints here, concurrently watching the prem. Two great games so far Foolum/Chelsk and Saintsburn v Man Sheiky...two more games to go. Dempsey was outstanding tbf, no Ronaldinlo but very good. Merry Xmas mate!
-
Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board
TijuanaTim replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
Ain't there to boycott, but would not boycott...kinda cutting y'nose t'spite y'face. We would hurt Saints more than help. There is not the right option up there as I would gladly abuse anything from pompers + a lot of other muppets. Maybe there should be 'Wouldn't abuse Southampton people' -
Another cr@p performance from Dempsey again today ;-)
-
Can totally understand your frustration, but keep your chin up and believe...you just never know mate.
-
Thanks, Benj - Sid - KelKel, quality....consistent themes running through your expert opinions so.... I really think that someone (hopefully Southampton Football Club's supporters) are going to benefit from this abundance of...well...potential. I could not help but notice how little actually negative was talked about these kids, for example - I watched pompo on US tv yesterday, for the second time I saw their youngster Marc Wilson is it? Jeeezarse, what a piece of schit and I couldn't help but think he wouldn't play for Saints ressies and yet he is in the prem???
-
Benj, Merry Chrimble and genuine thanks...exactly what I was looking for - terrific reply and well thought out!!
-
Merry Xmas Mike...nah more what I was looking for is e.g. 'Lloyd James started the season allowing his winger to get inside him and frequently pinging the ball up too early, but now he's settled into his role and is better both defending and using the ball' or 'Simon started the season full of confidence covering every blade of grass and has now lost his way slightly'...or stuff like that. This is more about the pieces rather than the whole??
-
From those of you that watch Saints pretty well weekly, individually how are the youngsters doing? I would appreciate your opinions. The half dozen or so games I've seen I have been impressed with Morgan (where is he right now, nothing on Saints 'injury' page), Adam, Drew, Jack, Lee and KD. Are there any others improving learning their trade or that could be very good prospects? Thanks and have a Cool Yule

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best LM
TijuanaTim replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Hey there...mmm, it'd have to include David Armstrong - still to this day the definitive modern left mid and John Sydenham - the classic left winger. However depending how you fit in the true superstars Saints in there maybe an argument for putting the Wiltshire Windmill out there as you have to fit Big Ron and one other up top FFS -
True...the irony is awful.
