Abit premature but a lot of offsides...are we a) better organised B) getting lucky?
-
Size & Perry sounds it could develop into a decent combo???
-
DMG & BWP shots...hmm + a miss f'Barnsley, good signs hopefully!!
-
Size sounds a bit like Killer..'Physical' and at least they 'just missed' early. So clean sheet for first quarter hour?
-
...oh and Ron is home now, hopefully in about an hour and three quarters I will be able to not only pass on your good wishes but also relay about a great away result!!
-
Get into to 'em!!
-
Ron is living Albuquerque - New Mexico, here is the thread which will give the details to get you up to speed http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7555 The appeal and it's contributors were fantastic - so thanks mate!!

Hey JB, join the upbeat crazies. You just never know it may catch on - become infectious and even work it's way onto the playing field, have a motivating influence on the players which in turn will encourage more fans to come thru' the turnstiles and spiral until we become an attractive proposition to potential buyers. Come on everyone, visualize it and it has little chance of working. Don't visualize it and it will never happen. Come on you RED AND WHITE MACHIIIIIIIIINE FFS...hey it's Friday night here and I have t'get ready to go out, so exchange views later hopefully. Hey and I do understand everyone's cynicism let's try and fight it!!

...over the weekend and send positive encouragement. Just spent ages on the phone with Chris (his wonderful wife). Been spending a little more time talking to them than usual as both have been under the weather over the New Year. Anyway Ron's condition has worsened and developed into a bad case of pneumonia, Ron is a proud man and is not at ease explaining he is in discomfort. He has been to urgent care and they have administered IVs (for vital fluids), medication and oxygen. Hopefully he will make a swift recovery, the outcome may also affect his surgeon who may feel reluctant to do his second hip replacement until well after a complete recovery. Anyone that has the ear of any of the kids or anyone inside the dressing room, tell them to win one for Big Ron!! (or even win several).
-
Absolutely, enjoy everything with the experience even if you can't enjoy the result sometimes. The day with friends, a common bond and interest. And, yes, this is the first time I have really get behind and related to our team for a long while. These kids should get our support, as any team should that get out there and do their best for us. They don't pick the team or select club policy...they just try to score-defend and entertain.
-
Great Attitude Mate and welcome aboard with 'Captain Bligh and the new ship of fools' (as Gil Scott-Heron so eloquently once paraphrased). We're gonna energise people, encourage support of the team (note I say team and not 'club') and find a way out of this together. More stark raving mad fans the better!!
-
Well put, if we had a poll so far I'd be 'Crazy' ;-)
-
...about the next few games. All the right noises coming out of dressing room (screw the politics), the new Dutch CB wants to succeed in England, Saga sounds up for it and even JP is promoting fight rather than only talking 'bout "De boysh musht pahsht de ball a lot". Anyone going, get behind the team and give an extra chant for all of us distant fans that would love to be there getting behind them!!
-
Pretty good way to put it, summed up up well.

Great post, thanks!!

As a long time manager/coach I make a point of talking to refs about this particular issue prior to games, specially as I have two players with thunder in their boots. It is like this - the wall is gonna be ten paces away, the members of that afore-mentioned wall are 100% aware that the ball is going to be kicked hard towards them right. Well in that case (I tell the ref), they have ten yards to make their minds up whether to man-up and take it or get out the frigging way, but certainly NOT use their hands or arms FFS, however 'accidental' they may claim it is. Damned hard peno on DMG, but keep your arms down you Jessie or 'man-up' if not don't complain. For the record it hit him on the back of the head, but the ref as he did not have the benefit of 10 different angle replays...mind you that useless tvvot should be 100% before giving a peno in that situation.

Written some good books too, maybe he'll write one soon about the amazing rise and fall and (hopefully) resurection of our SFC

Saints Greatest XI - Best Right-Side Forward/Striker Poll
TijuanaTim replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
TBF, Big Ron used to always attack the far post and received more right wing crosses from Elvis Paine than anyone...whereas Mickey Channon always seemed to cheat (in the nice sense of the word) toward the near post or 'right forward' slot if any. So you just have to pick the pair, but maybe as 'Windmill' in the right slot and Big Ron at the back stick or left forward. For the record Ron thought Channon was great and Big Chivers as good if not even better as far as partner goes. -
Happy New Year Gordon Well here is the skinny from the horse's mouth. Ron has lived in New Mexico for a long time, nothing-zero-ziltch to do with his hips or hip operation. He and Chris live there virtually penniless and with few if any resources. After his hips became too painful and demobilizing he had to quit work (already located in Albuquerque). Ops for both hips could possibly exceed 100 grand, of which Ron and Chris were obliged to pay for, that's when the folks at GITR got started. However after extensive investigation by Steph (my gf) and myself we found options where not only could Ron have 80-20 but maybe even 100% coverage. Long after the wonderful GiveItToRon effort (which incidentally would most probably not cover the full cost) we assured that Ron would receive 80% 'Medicare' for the ops. Then we worked the subsequent 10-20% under another seldom used 'MedicAid' opportunity. Not only have we managed to reduce the cost but also through our connection/communications Ron has seen a far superior and well-reknowned orthopedic surgeon. He also had his first op significantly earlier as we put him with someone with no 'waiting-list'. So far the outgoings have been some 400 odd bucks we've paid in prescriptions and odd bills, so I hope you are now not upset by Ron's ops any more. What's more I have total faith in the tremendous people at GiveItToRon that they will use the funds totally appropriately towards Ron's best welfare...also there is nothing for sure that Ron's second hip op or subsequent medical care will be as financially successful as his first, it is like 'let's wait and see'.

TBF, this Lawie Donegan that wrote the article is a good bloke and quite a character too, he is now a Californian resident too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Donegan

Very succinctly put my friend...okay I maybe too positive for some of you and others maybe too negative. As you suggest what is the alternative? This is a far more supportable effort than those 'couldn't-care-less' journeymen of the recent past.
-
Yes there were many that were game, I watched the game with a schitload of United fans, Steph and I were the only Saints there. Pretty well all of their lot agreed that we played some decent stuff against, let's face it, a fantastic team. Almost to a man that thought we played equally as well as the skates did last year...but the matelots didn't have an offside goal allowed against them, they got a peno and didn't concede a dodgy one + a Manc got sent off not one of theirs...just like us they offered little, Man U controlled and dominated...pompers didn't even get a corner (they said).
-
Funniest post today...not you Stanley mate, but that Holloway...if there was a second rate, sub standard, b-movie level competition for losers to be losers he would still lose FFS

Religious?? How long have I known you and been your friend Dunc? Is it 37 or 38 years now and you find it necessary to use a public forum to insult me. I will refrain from retaliating out of genuine respect. It is not 'religious'...you couldn't find anyone further from that than me. It is not 'Californian' either as you so glibbly put it. It is good common sense psychology. I hope you read about sports (and business) and sports (and business) psychology as much as you write...I do. My successes (admittedly at a lower level) have been achieved by being decent, encouraging, loyal, respectful and motivating to teammates as you well know. That works in my business team successes as well. It was the same before I left Southampton for LA. So for the instance I will have to disagree with you, Happy New Year.
