One Of The First Things Ever Taught To Young Footballers
TijuanaTim replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Kinda interesting to see RVP attacking and very successfully clearing the ball from the inside of the far post .v. Real Madrid today at corner kicks (just as a quick heads up, Rafael successfully covered the inside of the front post at the afore-mentioned corners), whilst Welbeck's headed flick from a United corner sailed in, uncontested at the unguarded far post from Rooney's corner. Each to their own I guess. -
One Of The First Things Ever Taught To Young Footballers
TijuanaTim replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Doesn't matter what anyone says...two players inside the post = two-nil. End of....it wasn't Shaw keeping Maloney onside, he was not inside the post, that was the problem. If Maloney is onside and does not score - then who cares? -
Especially full backs, is to stand inside the posts at corner kicks....nevermind any fancy new strategies or game plans we may have picked up lately, if MP had simply applied that most basic of all ideas then it was Wigan 0:2 Southampton. Am I right or am I right? Fully expert every footballer and not just airchair trolls will concur....hey and if you didn't play the game then I get, it's like us critiquing basket weaving.... Cannot not keep failing through the most basic flaws.

Top 3 most mental goal celebrations at a Saints Game
TijuanaTim replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Saints
1. Steve Moran '84 at the antiquated p!ss-stone 2. Bobby 3. Micky Windmill '76 at the schit-hole -
Whatever age you are prepared to expose the child to excessive alcohol use, extremely bad language and hostile, aggressive behaviour...if not don't complain when there, because those things (not sometimes, but) always happen at games. Go - take the child by all means, just be prepared.

Chelsea - Efficient and effective. Terry and Ivanovic were dominant and the team played differently to any other this weekend. Ones for us to watch - Hazard WIGIN - Poor, inert. Ones for us to watch - Moses and Maloney...hopefully unavailble v us. Man City - A powerful and sometimes passionate jugernaut. Ones for us to watch - Tevez, Nasri (er...obviously) Southampton Football Club - FANTASTIC, heart, skill, passion, strength...so, so proud of SFC. More light at the end of our tunnel than most. Call me a whinger, I don't care, but for one (maybe two) clusterfu¢k of a (combination) decision by (oh I love BIG clubs) Howeird Webb and his little b!tch linesperson Howeird WebbLite we'd've got a richly deserved result up there...all of you that travelled, a huge 'thanks', you gave us so much joy seeing the red army erupt when SRL equalized and then when SD gave us the lead...your reaction and celebration was epic!!

Sat in and vegged out all day 'cause my Guide Dog b!tch is in heat and needs company...Prem comes on here at 7am and I watched every game, some good - some yawners. A couple of impressive teams and some very unimpressive ones. So here's a few observations.... WBA - wow, what a surprise...played some pretty solid traditional English football as well....Oh and some should tell Shane Long that the backpass is outlawed - especially from the penalty spot. Ones for us to watch - Mulumbu, Yacob, Gera Liverpool - 15 minutes of neat (Barcelonaesque) football, then the roof caved in. Stevie G (and I'm a big fan) was appalling. Rodgers failed miserably....Heard that rodgers is whinging about the refs already - humourless tvvat. Ones for us to watch - Suarez West Ham - Horrible, yet won ugly playing SamBall. Ones for us to watch - Diame, Vaz Te Aston Villa - 15 minutes of neat (Barcelonaesque) football, then zero inventiveness or creativity. Lambert failed miserably. Ones for us to watch - Agbondalhor (and he didn't even play) Reading - Awful, unimaginative lucky. Ian Harte - best player on the park, says it all really. Ones for us to watch - Harte Stoke - Ugly and predictable. Not one player was better than moderate. Ones for us to watch - Kightly Arsenal - Neat, smart, but even less toothless since losing Van Persie...the new Spaniard and Arteta looked good. Ones for us to watch - Carzola Sunderland - Alamo defence, however nothing going forward and let's be fair Arsenal didn't offer much in and around the box. Ones for us to watch - McLean (maybe) Fulham - Blimey!! Flowing, effective and without Clint Dempsey they were not their recent 'single point failure', so many good performances including Dembele, Ruiz and Petric. Ones for us to watch - Petric Norwich City - 5 minutes of neat (Barcelonaesque) football, then got eeeeeeenialated by wing play, skill and creative finishing. Ones for us to watch - No one, they're ¢rap QPR - The old QP ha, QP ha, QP hahahahaha are back. Sparkie with his clueless ex-Man Uers thought he could spend a bunch on hasbeens and it'd be easy, he had his @ss well and truly handed to him today. His team were awful to a man and guess what he picked them so the tool needs to take a long hard look in the mirror before pointing fingers!! Ones for us to watch - Hoillet Swansea - The most impressive, moved away from the predicable, if effective, Martinez/Rodgers method and played with more flair and invention. Every player including subs were great. Ones for us to watch - Dyer, Michu, Britton Newcastle - Luckiest team of the day, not that great, yet way more PASSIONATE and able to react better than AVB's flacid bunch. Ones for us to watch - Ben Arfa, Ba Tottenham - Excellent play, though dominating they typically reflected their sterile coach's inability to raise gears when needed, unlike the Magpies. Ones for us to watch - Bale, Lennon and RVDV I hope we are able to adapt from the calm, controlled passing Barcelonaesque style when we need to - for obvious reasons, all the teams stuck in that 2 year old time warp fell foul today. I think just about all the teams that didn't play will be huge challenges tho', even if we expect to do well .v. WIGIN

Great subject, scheduled my trips home to take in as many away days as possible. Never saw Saints lose or even draw on the road in the last four (yes four) seasons. Wins at Derby, Ipswich, Southend, Oldham, Bristol, Yeovil, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Brentford, Barnsley and Palace....Just loved Brentford, Southend (Fri), Plymouth and even Palace!! Two great wins at Portman Road.... BTW...did see us lose at home to Brum, Reading and draw with Sheff Utd and those skatey boy matelot types. Yay 'Road Trip!!'

Thanks Ron M
-
Ron is absolutely elated and feels as he says "very humble" about everyone remembering him so positively. He really appreciates the the love, respect and memories. Genuine thanks from Big Ron, this has been immensely morale-boosting to him!! Gratefully TT
-
Fair enough trousers mate...just specifically wrote this as I am currently the only one with contact to Ron. He is having a hard time and want to read him some good cheer to help him feel better than he is...
-
One of the greatest Saints ever has his BD on Friday. I will read him your (appropriate) greetings as I do every year. He is having a rough time now and if you have any good memories that you want to share to cheer him up that would be great.

Zip - Zip over there, we wore red
-
Kelvin at dirty Leeds for me!!
-
Adidas...and just say 'no' to friggin' yellow.
-
1. Paul Robinson - desperately wants outa Blackburn 2. Jonas Olsen - typical (within budget) Saints style CB 3. Whittingham - solid talent, wasted in Wales 4. Tim Matavž - if we could get him I'll get killed for this, all the same, a shed load of willing, good attitude, desperate for a chance, talent in the MLS - especially good for big, quick, calm, athletic CBs and great 'keepers.
-
Hello mate...click my name - then 'forum posts', it'll tell you one of two things (re: your "all the time" statement) 1. You are confusing me with someone else. 2. You are lying...either way, an apology will be the correct thing to do. Now don't go getting all reactionary or defensive, just be adult, admit you're wrong and we can all play nicely together again. Peace bro'...

We have our eye on a different prize...this is there 'cup final', however I see your point.
-
You make a good point sir and I respect it, just from our prospective, this is the most important part of Saints history post 1st May 1976. We go into a crucial derby next week on the back of a SOUL DESTROYING b!tch-slapping and then start to prepare for the most critical of top-of-the-table clashes against our toughest opponent and that is not including the threat a trip to Palace poses. Unprofessional, bad strategy - then worse tactics, not one positive to take out of that unless you choose to use the horrible 'well we could not do any worse' that is.
-
Know I'll get crucified for this...and yes, know I wasn't even there. However, watched live on the box here with other Saints fans and my heart goes out to those poor fans that traveled to Blackpool. That performance (or lack of it) was 100% SOUL DESTROYING and the worst conceivable preparation for the crucial derby, let alone promotion run in. Don't want to hear 'we have good games this season', 'it is only one game' blah blah excuse excuse etc. This showing was unacceptable full-stop. Here is the rationale...No pride! No heart! No sense of urgency! No (hate using this term) 'passion'. And absolutely gutless, clueless and 'bad practice match' application. Players were playing back 4 possession and back passing to Kelvin at the end of the game?? Message for those of you admirable supporters that went today - the players and coaching staff of Southampton Football Club stole your money and cheated you today...The team gave more than that when we had those two Dutch muppets and were in a downward spiral to administration. This league is here for the taking, so stopping attempting to emulate 48-49 and close it out for goodness sake. This was amateur, sorry do not want to insult amateurs - this was 'unprofessional'!! KD - A good stop, but back to his indecisive worst. Fox - Missing in action and poor delivery Jose - Dobbie's b!tch Jos - Hoofed it almost every time. Butterfield - Inadequate Chaplow - We normally do well when he plays, not sure why - not very good is he (lucky charm effect I guess sometimes) Cork - Adequate...possibly Schneid - Inneffective Adam - Did he play? GDP - 'Shakes head in disbelief' Sharp - (Maybe NA's fault) Should've been subbed after that ab0rtion of a peno Steve - P-urlease, one decent run, had 20 yards in front of him towards goal and put in a lame cross to nobody instead of drawing the defence and giving someone an easy tap in??? Barnard - ??? Why didn't we just put him in after Sharp missed, because from that moment we effectively played with 10 men. NA & Staff - The team got beat 3-0, Holloway beat you be-atches about 8-0....totally out-coached. The only people that can leave Blackpool with a clear conscience are our magnificent fans.

Thanks everyone...ain't got it yet, however 'Come on you red & white machine..." worst comes to worst Uncle Dave'll be ok!!
-
Anyone have anything? Someone said it might be shown on L'Équipe...will there be a link??

Pull y'self together FFS...with a shirt on and going as a shirter no self respectly thug will even give you a second glance, therefore pretty well enhancing your safety bubble (unless of course you are hurt if someone calls you a name) . If your wetting your undies then be sure not to wear SI, CP, Prada, Aquscutum etc etc

Nigel Adkins......best manager we've had since Ted Bates?
TijuanaTim replied to Kaiser Soze's topic in The Saints
Nice thought, however Lawrie Mac was in a different class to our lovely Ted...Ted woulda been screwed without the abject talent that was Elvis Paine and one superb signing - Big Ron. We wouldn't have stayed up or gone up without Painer and we'd've been relegated outa sight by Christmas without the Welshman's near 40 goals, right. In later years the Wiltshire windmill kept us handing around for another year or two. With Mac we were contenders on several occassions. -
Psycho Dennis at 24...give me an em effing break. Best left back in the history of the planet and one of us t'boot!!
