So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
TijuanaTim replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Great question...I woulda, had I been able to do up all the loose ends! -
Good thread sue, yeah desperate to go back and see it, however, will watch it here in FSC at 4.30 am and listen to Uncle Dave if it's synchronized....COYR
-
Strange to have both things on my mind - but?? 1. Wasn't CC a damn good striker when we first got him. To me like a better version of Fatty K. Davies (the first time round) and he knew where the net was...what happened (it was about that time I went to the US)? 2. Depending on how many tickets we're allowed, will this final be the biggest gathering of Saints fans for a single game? I mean, will they let us have 35-40,000 for the game. Carlisle won't want many and who else will go?
-
I will be listening to Uncle Dave...but use some visuals!!
-
The original hardcore mobs were the Wimpson and the Market Diner, there were also nasty pockets from the Haymarket, Basset, Weston, Hightown etc. The first real unified boozer was the Warrens, which saw the infamous 'Warrens last stand' on the Saturday of the Salisbury .v. Millwall game at the Dell, when all hell broke loose...we never went there again. The (Painted) Wagon then became the kinda 'meeting' spot. I remember in the heyday on a Friday night some misguided and afterwards 'very sorry they'd tried' pompee fans paid a visit. Not being around Southampton now for ever, I believe it's called the Soul Cellar. I missed a re-union there about 2 years ago, but my nipper TTjr and a whole bunch of faces including Nick, Stan, Kade, Eastleigh Soul Boy, Ponty, Ace, Joely etc etc did go and reckoned it was a great day. The last time I saw a gathering of the old faces was prior to the last skate game I was home for when we won 2-1 after going one down with Keller in goal. It was at that old pub between the ground and the SW House...on the corner, tbf I think it used to be a gay pub at one time, closed now I believe. Filth everywhere!!
-
A voice of common sense!!
-
Millwall will definitely NOT be coming down. The filth are taking the p!ss, here are a few glaring reasons...Millwall have Exeter at home...we are an early game...they hate the skates...there are more 'thug' appealing events closer to home... What would they come as anyway 'Treatment', 'F-Troop', 'The Half-Liners' or 'Bushwhackers'? Your contact in the OB is having a big laugh at your expense FFS Sorry to disillusion anyone.

Gotta say thanks to so many people. Yeah there are those (and they are absolutely entitled to their opinions, yes even you stalker Brad) that have been pretty anti, hey, that's life. Some just want a row tbf, well a 'cyber' row that is. I have been completely overwhelmed with offers of kindness. As a group we should be very proud of ourselves, the kindness of Saints fans is huge (and global). I can now easily get a ticket due to your help. Replies on here, PMs, e-mails, I have even received a phone call from one of the over a dozen fellow posters that have been here to LA and stayed with me. The flight prices have changed up to a grand and more, plus most flights now require a stopover in Philly or NYC. I can only afford to be gone from Thur night 'til Mon due to business committments, which was always the case but now is more challenging due to flight availability. My original post was 100% about the disappointment of not being there - the difference a Saints fan feels between being AT the game, a game that makes our pulses race and listening to it fade in and out on a 'less than average' internet feed. I had totally resigned myself to NOT going. I was not asking for help, tickets and least of all sympathy, au contraire! So you've been great!! Now have the option of going, also got notification from Rut and from our guy at Fox Soccer Channel (whose program director incidentily is a Saint) that FSC will show the game, live in high definition at 4.30am. So if I am in Cali, Florida on business or hopefully make it home one way or another I will get to see the game at the very least. Finally a big 'cheers' from a very happy, far-flung Saint and like I said this was all about being disappointed and never a whinge at the club or fans. -

LOL!! Stalker alert. Brad are you going? Or is a little far, most likely a little scary too huh? Never mind, you can stay up there and monitor posts closely waiting for y'hero to come back and make your day...see you still haven't forked out the massive 5 quid to join this excellent forum. Must be frustrating for you knowing you can only punch you bilious hatred in 3 times a day PMSL Drop me a PM next time I'm over and I'll come there and by you a Starbucks. -

Well I am not moaning, bluntly 'seems', 'assumes', 'maybes' and 'I thinks' just ain't moaning, that's you guessing. The comments above were quite clearly addressed as a response to someone that had made three seperate posts on the subject and was actually initiating a response by stating he travelled 50 miles and chose not to further himself going to the US, right. I have not been asked but inundated with requests for me to get Big Ron back here and it's a long process. For what...so that all the Smart Alecs could type 'well I've been to several games this year and he may well have played a few years ago, but screw him as I deserve to be at a game more than him'. I get it, Ron won't. -

We get your drift (3 posts) So you based your life, future, the welfare of your family, your hopes and dreams on the location of Southampton Football Club, I admire you for that, truly...maybe your family's best fortune isn't served, but what the hell...my families best interests including the medical re-habilitaion of my then wife, who had nearly died in childbirth, were best served in Southern California. Oh and by the way I travel more supporting Saints and doing stuff for Southampton FC in one year than you do in twenty and that, my friend, is a hard FACT. I went to Southend away with H1N1 this year and by the time I went to the away game at Oldham it was developing into double pneumonia. As soon as I got back I bought a car, drove 15 hours non-stop and delivered it to the recently widowed Ron Davies and then promptly collapsed with exhaustion....read the post and you'll see that I was clearly not blaming Saints - whining or calling it unfair, just saying that I was "disappointed". So please use a little more thought before getting in your pulpit next time. Each to their own and God bless you mate. -

Yeah...like I haven't tried that, maybe if you were to spend more efforts comprehending stuff and issuing 'infractions' for more offensive stuff e.g. bigotry then it might dawn on you. -

How did I know that this would bring you out the closet Brad? -
Not particularly with the club, I do understand the need to ensure the right people receiving tickets. However, have written to Luker/Luker's staff, the ticket office, management and even Cortese/Cortese's administration staff and have drawn a 100% blank trying to get tickets for a couple (at least) of us LA Saints that want to go to the game. I am now barely a week away from the match and the flights are becoming more scarse and a lot more expensive FFS. The last thing we need to do is to make a ****load of arrangements, pack, lose a day flying there at great expense just to sit in the Avenue Bar and watch it on TV for Christ sake. The game (most likely) will not be on the TV here, so this diehard Saint will be reluctantly listening to the fading in and out crap 'Saints Player' with commentary from that muppet and Uncle ("we really need a second goal") Dave at 4 in the frigging morning.... Like I said 'disappointing'.
-
Where would you put me BR? 'Libero', deep mid, over-lapping full back or opposite wing to you FFS?
-
Would not mind either at St Marys in the quarters!!
-
Very nice little fella every time I have seen him interviewed...however one of those Jeckle/Hyde types once he gets on the field...horrible tiresome little tool, schit stirrer, faker, all round nasty little terd and not representative of a Saint....send him to Aldershot.
-
Good man....get it back on the main page and advertise it....we are the greatest fans, my guess is we have the greatest 'fan' players and maybe ain't found them yet FFS ;-)
-
August '72 me up FFS!!
-
Keiran from Exeter just posted this on the UI and I wondered if anyone fancied giving those Devonites a Southampton exhibition of excellence...like we gave those Leicester types three years ago FFS? Make footy - not war!! http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.forum.posts.php?id_t=137798#2
