On American tv we have Andy Gray, Efan (what a know-nothing tool) Ekoku, Ally McCoist, John Harkes, Steve McManaman, Ruud Gullit, Shaun Bartlett, Shaun Bartlett, Roberto Martinez, Alexi Lalas, Robbie Mustoe, Warren Barton and commentators are Martin Tyler, Ian Skate Adrke, Derek Rae (a very good ESPN Scot) and Adrian Healy. Gotta say, best presented WC I've ever seen. Super professional and fortunating all the US 'link' presenters have just asked the questions and let the experts talk. Steve Mc has been interesting and so has John Harkes (co-commentator) have t'say the best commentator has been Tyler, co- has been Mustoe with the top 'panelist' Gullit...Ekoku and Gray are pants...oh and McCoist has been superb and insightful.

Couldn't help but notice how the Argentine welcomed their boys back like heroes. Also at the LA Galaxy's match yesterday the crowd paid huge homage to Landon Donovan and even Edson Buddle, who is a good player but hardly played. Even the away Seattle fans cheered for both as well (before the match). How will the fans in England generally recieve Lamps, Cashley, Heskey, Green etc???

Another good geezer gone, RIP Malc

Well, that was unexpected and exciting!

Could This Team/Squad Have Done Any Worse?
TijuanaTim replied to TijuanaTim's topic in General Sports
Just going with a team that was 'not good enough'...they couldn't have done worse, think about it zip-zip with a woeful Algeria containing a couple poor skates and a humiliating bottom spanking by the old (in FACT in this case very young) enemy...two words 'disgraceful'.....Rooney FFS -

Fair comment re; Hargreaves....however even half fit (supposedly he was actually fit) he would have had 100% more product than any midfielder we used, in '06 he was star of the show. How could Owen (who is a shadow of his old self) possibly under any circumstances whatsoever been as underwhelming as Rooney?? What a joke he was - he should be ashamed to wear that St George's cross tat on his shoulder. Gabby would have died trying. -
He's in the filth, he has good authorative posture and body language. He stays calm, never over-reacts or dramatises things...he has everything going for except that he is pretty ¢rap at making decisions. So most of the rest of the World think he's lucky to have got this far. If only we could blend his awesome control with a bit of decent refereeing.....

Ponty, thanks for the response mate...how did you feel when the group was drawn? Did you pay any attention my friend? England have just miserably failed to beat the US, Al-freaking-geria and were rancid against a p!sspoor, brand new country with the population of Birmingham before suffering one of the biggest humiliations in English football history to a young, dark horse German team. IMO of course that is. -
--------------- Kirkland ------------------- -Warnock - Lescott - Jagielka - Baines- Walcott - Bullard - Hargreaves - Young ----------- Agbonlahor - Bent ----------- Robinson; Shorey, Bridge; Richards, Turner; Johnson, Cattermole, Parker, Wilshire; Owen, Zamora FFS (n.b. not one player that was taken)

Refs At Free Kicks (You May Thank Me For This)...
TijuanaTim replied to TijuanaTim's topic in General Sports
Fair enough, that's the point...everyone knows Lamps is...well 'Lamping' it at the wall, most of all the 'wall' and the ref. They have ten yards in which not to use their hands....and if you do you their hands then fair enough, there is an offense in the game called hand ball last time I looked right. Some refs don't go for it, but a lot do...take the p!ss all you want, that's good for a laugh and we could all use one, however some of you will do what I suggested and it will work. Not really 'ball to hand' when you stand there to block it at a set piece, you know it's coming straight at you!! Look closely at both Lamp's incidents as well, if the handball happens within a general profile of the body then maybe sometimes you can talk 'incidental', but never when it's outside. -
Refs At Free Kicks (You May Thank Me For This)...

Must of missed that my little friend and there was me thinking it was yet another juvenile and vein attempt at humor or sarcasm...in that case if you not just stalking (as is your normal modus operandi) I congratulate you on bowing to the object of your obsession's greater wisdom. BTW, I would gladly host a coaching clinic for you and your 'alleged' alter ego Kareem-Kadeem or whatever you...oops, I mean he calls himself. I would educate in y'hero's methodology in Southampton after an upcoming home game, however we all realize how futile that is, as by your own admission you do not attend games. I maybe off to a function soon so respond quick otherwise you and/or the other dude will be having yet another late night awaiting my wisdom. -
Great post, my moderate friend.

YAY!! My stalker's back, where've you been my obsessed little friend..hope I didn't offend, thought you may have actually gotta life there for a minute..but that'd just be kidding ourselves wouldn't it. BTW, do not forget the 8 hour time difference that I'll probably be posting at...set y'clock and don't forget to stay up into the wee hours 'case you may miss something. Use your three posts wisely nipper, momma still hasn't forked out the whole 5 bucks or whatever it is to let you be a real poster...Give me your details, I'll sign you up, maybe. LMFAO -
....especially if you still play or coach. Watch closely both Lamps free-kicks today, one the Germans even broke and scored from. Both shots were blocks by accident or on purpose by handballs, right. So if you or your teammate have a freekick in shooting distance always and I repeat 'always', politely, but firmly remind the official before it is taken/shot, that the wall/defense has 10 yards to man up and be brave or to let it go and not use their hands....then the ref has not got a leg to stand on with all this incidental or accidental bs.

I'll tell you what's missing England-US-Azzuri-Le Bleu and pretty soon El Tri. Otherwise a great spectacle...
-
Mush, they wouldn't even get picked in the Bundersligue with their over-inflated attitudes...unlike Michael Bradley and Steve Cherundelo.

Forget all prejudice and bitterness, just put that aside - let's review. Firstly us Anglos here are every bit as heartbroken right now, was it because the Germans were devastatingly good...maybe, maybe not? Also wouldn't we agree that this is what we believe to be one of the best squads of individuals England has ever sent to a World Cup...so how much joy has England given you, honestly? Not much if any huh. My American friends all were understanding, supportive and decent - none, I repeat none, gloating or giving us/me the stick that the embarrassing, pathetic, gutless and worst of all clueless England performance so richly deserved. That is despite quite a few ex-pats here in the US that dished it out after the (let's be honest) US's admirable, going down fighting effort. Next, how many of these over spoilt, prima donna England players will hold their hands up and take responsibility? How many will learn from this and grow...maybe, just maybe one or two, right. Those loads should all being taking long hard looks in the mirror and not at their bank statements and WAGS FFS. Everyone will be pointing their fingers and blaming others, just check out that baby Rooney's body language and attitude. He should be ashamed to have that St George's cross on his shoulder...you and I know amateurs that would have done better against our old enemy, at least died trying. English and American football/soccer fans are gutted but for different reasons, US fans because the team did their best and brought thrilling excitement, then fell agonizingly short...whereas us England fans have had zero good out of this and then we were inexcusably and humiliatingly let down by our team's total ineptitude. Thoughts? n.b. For those that all too predictably have nothing to add and just give abuse...go ahead, it's a good reflection on you and good for a giggle.
