Even still.... despite it being a positive impact for us potentially - I'm still not sure that I like the implications for the wider game. I mean, if you look outside just our club... how is this a good thing. Plus the way its been forced into being... It's stuff like this, for me, that's killing football... at least my passion for it. Large wages for overhyped players, virtual monopoly of the premier league in terms of domestic football coverage in the media (and then only about 5 teams get the focus), unequal distribution of wealth amongst clubs...

Apologies if this has been posted already - but I saw this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/19/football-league-academies How can this be a good thing? Surely it just means lower league teams getting less compensation for players, therefore less likely to spend as much time and money developing youngsters if they only lose them for a desultory amount if they actually end up being good / reaching the first team (although this could be debateable whether many would even be allowed to get that far). So would it, if my interpretation is correct - just mean that lots of youngsters end up at top clubs with no-hope of ever reaching / getting first team experience for those clubs - surely not a good thing for them or football in this contry.... In particular what would it mean for us and our academy setup - particularly in light of the investment put into it and the importance of it within Nicola / Marcus' vision of where the club is heading (In particular our long term future) What particularly annoys me about this is the way that it appears to have been forced through - particularly with the withholding of money from the football league clubs (only to recieve it back for a positive vote) Seems like Cartel practices.... something I watch on Boardwalk Empire / The Sopranos. Rotten, I reckon. All setup for the Premier League Clubs' benefit. Not content with unfairly distributing TV money and strangling real competition in this country.... they now wanna do this...

just reminds me of the old Meridan News bias...

How come Pompey seem to feature on the DAB radio station more often than Saints (Maybe always - only just noticed last few games) when both clubs are playing? Saints seem to get the FM frequency - which gets a worse reception...?? Why, when we are top, and have a bigger supporter base (I would argue basing on attendances)? Any ideas?

prutton I think

HAS to be Le Tissier in his prime.... would probably singlehandedly get us out this league.... and what I wouldn't give to see those types of quality passes, and those awesome goals from someone in a Saints shirt again.

Oh, and Vassell - not sure he's quite at that level. haha. He could probably do a good job for us though

If you really wanted to go down the Marquee signing route then to match the audacity of signing Keegan, Christiano Ronaldo is our man. Wasn't Keegan European footballer of the year just before we signed him or something???

Cheers for ML, Slightly less for NC but no boo that I heard. Block 127

Have we had a player sent off? The Player on the Saintsfc website says we have????? In the Stat column I mean -
In last nights game I saw all the same problems as in other games this season. We TRY to play with width but we move the ball sideways, in front of defense and slow the play down, and then cross an awful ball in from deep. We are desperately missing some pace and confidence to take players on - several times saints players broke through and could've run from midfield and attacked the Rover's defense. Instead they run, get to within 10 yards of the penalty area then stop and play the ball sideways, allowing the opposition to recover. Lallana played well at times but tried sometimes to be too clever - little flicks that lose possession - like for Rovers' second goal last night - the ball was played to Lallana and he gave it away very cheaply. We have zero pace at the back. Mills was awful, Papa was little better. Hammond was good for most of the game. I thought Morgan was quiet too personally. Wotton coming on was a poor decision - playing for a draw at home... depressing.... can we still loan players? At least the corners were better

Watching MOTD last night - cut to a close up of the Spurs bench. Among the coaches I am sure I saw Michael Svensson. Anyone else see this? What do people think? Surely there could've been a coaching post here for him?

Does anyone else still think that this 'seems' like brinkmanship still? From Mr Fry's statement on the OS, I still think that there will be more developments - hopefully for the positive, but this is Southampton so I bet probably not. HA Maybe I'm just being too optimistic..... somehow this club, in past few years has drained lots of optimism out of me.... almost apathetic now....but trying hard not to be. And to think I was planning on renewing my season-ticket this year... f*ckers. Another disappointment relating to Saints....
