So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
MadDogMatt replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Some mighty impressive regulars on this post, my hats off to you! I am exciled in East London, 2 miles from Upton Park and am a season ticket holder in the Northam with my son who lives in Romsey. I smell a backs to the wall defence tomorrow and a Ricky dead ball special to win in on 89 minute COYR -
great night - a well deserved win and ITK for a pub opening at 10 Saturday for regulars:)

thanks LadySaint and 70's Mike for bringing back the memories goog and bad. Me I have been to the last 10 home and away. The 1-0 win at FP in the FAC in 84 was fantastic but - and you younger fans take note - for me the real rivalry started at this one - my mates sister got kicked in the back by a SB in her spot in the lower tier of the stand next to the main massed ranks of the Saints fans on the end terrace. Next visit to FP the guy next to me when we were kept in after the game got hit by a half brick on the head thrown from outside the ground. Worst the heavy defeat at FP under HR. Best - the games at SMS where our support has been fantastic. Clear out your you lug holes for this one but b4 that ... COYR at Exeter and against the MKD. Hey do me a favour too - dont f88king sing "pay up p**pey" during the skates game On TV that is is going to come across and worse to their jouirneyman players at PUP!! W

A friend of mine regularly watches The Bairns. He texted me today, believes this rumour is true and said their manager should be sacked if it happens. Sounds positive.

Tin hats guys! Our support against them at SMS has always been fantastic. We will need more of the same!! I have been to every Saints Pooopey game home and away since the late 70's and its fair to say I have good reasons to dislike them with a passion COYMR!

On Saints player now too Same v short highlights they had on ITV. Still worth seeing Thomo's cracker again.

OK I'll do it. How many sold for Ipswich
MadDogMatt replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
ticket office told me 20000 including away sold so far when I bought my MK tickets at about 0 this morning -
If there has been another thread on this I haven't seen it but Brentford away tickets are on sale for the 26th Jan and there is a maximum allocation of just 1744 so get in there for this short trip. Hopefully another opportunity to welcome - non cup tied - new signings.

The set up at Millwall caters very well for away fans with segregation right from South Bermondsey to the stand, been several times to the old and New Den with no problems. Also recommend Borough Market for pre match drinks, opposite London Bridge station and south a couple of hundred yards, its where the Market Porter mentioned above but there are other good pubs and eats there too.

Saints 3-1 Exeter - Post match Reaction
MadDogMatt replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Biggest crowd outside the Premiership .... Roll on Monday COYR -
Bigger crowd than anyone in Championship including Derby and Sheff Weds, would have been 1 higher if it wasnt for the bl00dy M25 Come on Saints get that 3rd
-
Won't be capacity today as I have failed to make the game due the M25 being a horendous f##king car park and headed home Gutted Gutted.
-
FF fully agree with your first post and thanks for raising this. I can also confirm you are sadly correct about Kevin Moore. I have wondered why the club have not done more to help his and his families plight and further wondered if they know?

The Birkbeck is a good pub and I will be there but as mentioned on one of the other *many* Orient threads, for those who want to go somewhere quieter perhaps with other halfs or youngsters and more - with respect - civilised than Leyton, Wanstead is a good choice. Its just two Central Line stops further east than Leyton and served by Wanstead and Snaresbrook tube stations which are at opposite ends of the same high street. Good pubs and bars, particularly the Wanstead end. Snaresbrook has a good size car park and is a recommended place to park to avoid the local Leyton Eastern European / India style traffic (from Soton take the M25 clockwise and M11 in instead of M25 antoclock and A2 Blackwall Tunnel in). Repitition fine accepted.

A good alternative for pre match drinks is Wanstead, served by Wanstead and Snaresbrook stations on the Central Line, which are at opposite ends of the same High Street. Its 2 stops further on but a world away from Leyton, decent pubs and bars. For those driving Snaresbrook station is also a good place to park coming in from the M11 side of the M25 and then taking the Central Line west bound a couple of stops. Traffic in the Leyton area can be very bad without 3250 of us arriving too, and if you have a decent motor I don't recommend street parking.

Enjoyed reading the post match posts this evening, voice has now recovered from last night. Agree with the more optimistic posters; this team is capable of doing well in the CC; this team is capable of making the play offs; this club, our club, our ground and set up, our owner - thankyou thankyou - our fans, are Premiership quality, all our managers signings are paying off and he is mixing the best of what he inherited. So to a couple of angles I have not seen posted, worst pre match rain since Steau Bucherest (excuse spelling) or Ipswich away last season? Stand up if you were also at these three! Nice touch to have a pub for the away fans, it was c**p but a good place to dry out and warm up for the game. A final mention for the Southend fans on the train back, respect. As posted, they thought our StMarys support (06?) was the best they have seen "way better than Chelsea last season in the FAC(?)". Back to the optimistic outlook, climb a league position a week on average and we can, and I think will, make the play offs. There is a thunder building, there may be set backs, but we are on the up!
