  1. The Echo has copied the BBC report word for word. Well not quite but near enough.
  2. The Echo has copied the BBC report word for word.
  3. Scored 6 so far this season, thats better at this point in the season than some strikers we've had in the past.
  4. I'm not sure if he has the pace to get past the defender and get to the byline with the ball and cross it.
  5. Unfortunately there are no ferries running.
  6. I got moaned at by Steve Williams once for swearing in a Cinema queue.
  7. He moaned at me once for swearing in the queue at the ABC Cinema when it was full and we couldn't get in. I made my feelings known and he turned round to everyone and said 'excuse his french'. Although he was just as unhappy as I was at not getting in. Can't remember the film though. I also saved a penalty from him in a kick about with him when he was an apprentice and he was playing for Saints Youth Team up at Stoneham lane.
  8. Yes they were in the FL then. Although I thought it was 1979. The game was postponed due to a frozen pitch (at plough lane) The game was re-arranged for the Monday night. It was quite a chaotic night. There was trouble with a load of Chelsea fans that turned up, and a there was a fire in a bush next to the burger bar at half time. There was also a hole in the pavement right outside the ground, where some gas main repairs or something were being done, the hole wasn't marked or anything, and a few people disappeared into into it during the crush getting out after the game.
  9. Hear hear. Plus he was looking to leave us as soon as he could. In the meantime during the first half of the season he kept Crouch out of the starting line up, even though his form was pretty poor and with hindsight, he may have done a better job and possibly kept us up. For example, we may have beaten Palace and West Brom at home. Although, I suppose Wigley could be to blame there for not dropping Beattie in favour of Crouch, also at that time we didn't think 'Crouchy was alright' because he hadn't scored that penalty.
  10. I had to pop down to pompey today, and I went for Mcdonalds at the one by Fratton Park. I cracked up when I saw that there was a massive car boot sale in the in the big car park at the back of the Fratton End. I thought, are things that desperate down here, that they got to have a car booty to help pay the players!
  11. Whats an assassinated reggae singer got to do with it?
  12. I no longer view Saints as a big club, we're a league 1 club with a big ground(in that league), with good training facilities, etc. But we're no different in footballing terms to any other team in league 1. I suspect some people will have the view that playing us is 'Rotherham's Cup Final'. Which from my point of view is a bit arrogant, after all they've earned the right to play in the 3rd round the same as we have. I think it shows a lack of respect for lower league clubs. To some degree its a good draw for them, its a ground they've never played at before, plenty of tickets available, so its a good day out. They've beat us before, so they will see us as very beatable. They are a good side, and wont be easy. Having said all that they've still got to beat Luton.
  13. Does the DVD come with a free Replica Steve Foster Headband circa 1982. http://www.sporting-heroes.net/football-heroes/displayhero_club.asp?HeroID=40012
  14. I dont know if this has already been mentioned. Plymouth's bid is a joint bid with Plymouth CC and Devon and Cornwall County Councils, by doing that, they're probably able to spread costs and workload across the 3 councils. Perhaps the City Council and Hampshire CC should look at a joint bid. Afterall it will be instrumental in attracting tourist to the New Forest, and elswhere in Hants as well as the football. One of the SA venues is in a town called Nelspruit, its not a very big town, and its miles from nowhere. However, its the nearest big town to Kruger National Park, and there is an expectation that people will visit the park while they are up that way. They're even planning to use the lodges etc in the park for accomodation. Fanzones etc could be outside the City, i.e Queen Victoria County Park, or the Rosebowl (if there's no clash with Cricket) or similar places. It doesn't all have to be within the City Council boundaries, and HCC will also benefit from anything going on down here. I suppose my point is, we should attempt a regional bid with St Mary's being the venue for the games, and not just restricting it all within the City. Having said all of that, I'm not sure the World Cup will come here anyway.
  15. The highlights normally appear on BBC iplayer about 48 hours after the game.
  16. Has anyone noticed the dip in form has come since the the Preston Manager was quoted as saying he would definitely be going back there in Jan. Maybe, that is having some effect, as he is now not sure about his future.
  17. Lets be honest, how many journalists actually know anything about football. They're really only people like us that have done media studies at college or university. That lot on Sky on a Sunday morning have got no more experience in football than you or I, yet somehow they feel that they are qualified to judge players, managers and chairmen etc. The Echo bloke is probably no different.
  18. I'm really happy with our current form, and I think we are one of the best sides in the league. However, I'm slightly concerned at our ability or lack of it to keep a clean sheet. There are going to be games when we are 1-0 and we need to be able to shut out the opposition and stop them from scoring. At the moment, they're consolation goals but eventually they'll turn out to be goals that earn a draw or a late win.
  19. It will be good to get out of the bottom four, but we really need to try and get well clear of it as quick as we can. That means beating Brighton and Norwich, as a loss to Norwich could see us falling back in there.
  20. I'd feel sorry for them if he did. He's got to be one of the most failed english managers in the history of football. Yet somehow people seem to employ him. I can think of any club that he has been at where he didn't leave under a cloud. I might be wrong though.
  21. Playing devils advocate. They do have a bit more competition up in the North West, with the likes of Man U, City, Bolton, Blackburn , Burnley, Wigan Blackpool etc within their catchment area Its only half the size of Southampton Having said that, the population density is greater up there.
  22. He would have his work cut out, but they've got a relatively rich owner, a new ground being developed so there may be some attraction.
  23. So they say......... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2710889/Seagulls-call-Copp.html I'd still like to think that we could overcome the Saints v New manager jinx at this game.
  24. Anyone remember 11:30 kick offs on Boxing Day and Good Friday etc?
