This is spot on. Think of it as buying a house with a mortgage...you improve the house as you can afford it and increase it's value, often and ideally over and above what you spend doing so. This increased value is your equity and therefore whoever has loaned the money has increasing collateral against that money. Then one year the highways department build a by-pass and your property is now in a quieter and more desirable location...think of that as promotion... and increase the value of your property still further thus creating more collateral to be valued against. To equate that to Southampton FC....they bought at a good price, increased the investment in the playing squad and support and supply line and we went up. A Championship club is worth more than a L1 club so the equity is increased. With greater success (and for us the bonus of attractive football) the gates increase - yes the prices go up too - you can't divorce this from the extra you are getting and then you invest still further in the hope of getting to the promised land of the Premer League where a certain level of income is guaranteed. So, provided your business plan is sound (it appears to be so), the money that you borrow is acquired on sensible repayment term (it appears to be so), it is spent wisely on the right players and infrastructure (it appears to be so -thus far) then you have a sustainable debt building to a goal. ML & NC defined that goal ideally as Champions League football where the rewards are still higher...keep watching. I hope this adds to the explanations above. Whether the club is sold on at a massive profit once this is achieved is yet to be seen. For now I'm enjoying the ride knowing that, unlike our neighbours to the East, that we are progressing in a structured and sustainable way.

Hmmm...but how many days of the week would you swap either The Dell or St Mary's for nottarF craP? Staplewood is infinitely nicer than the future Tesco. I'm amazed it gets a safety certificate each season.

Doh.....the danger of the quick glance!

If you can get hold of Lawrie's 'Diary of a season' it's a funny and informative read. Pretty sure it's not in print but may be available electronically -not sure how they work. I know you said football but as the others are chipping in outside that - 'Is that it' by Bob Geldof is excellent....Spike Milligans war biographies had me crying and hurting with laughter.

What did he have to say about his schooldays? He was in my class for three years...

Surely we have enough of our own tw*ts? I suspect the corpulent whore is so myopic that it can spout groundless, mindless pap in any open space so paying a fiver to do so is a step too far. Youth team, chuckle...£32 to stand in a toilet watching poo swirl round, chuckle...your first team being beaten by a team that managed to stay in the league by the thinnest thread last year and then finding out that the elite down the road won and had 30 odd percent more supporters there...begins to laugh out loud....realising that once again you've been shafted by another set of dodgy, potless foreigners whilst still (not) paying for the last lots' debris...rolling about!! I'd pay the fiver for it but the fun's there without the obnoxious creep anyway:lol:

But not with spelling or intellect at least.

Cheers Rupert... :-)

OK - I have done you the courtesy of doing that and I still think it's the pointless act of a bored juvenile who doesn't have great recollection or else has an immensely selective recall of the recent past and a diminutive ability to make or argue a point...that much I got from reading the whole thread. Mostly though I think it's attention seeking drivel by the person I described in my original post.

jeez...when do the schools go back? Ffs enjoy what we have you sad, small minded tw*t! I don't often resort to pure abuse but on occasion it is the only fitting response..this is one of them.

It's not strange...they've got a tw*t of a chairman and spawn of bacon face as a manager - entirely rational (I'll get my coat!)!

To be fair he gave it his everything:rolleyes:

Thoughts again with his family and friends - I'm hopeful that it helps knowing that his actions made so many people's lives better and their gratitude is ongoing. RIP St Markus..and thanks so much!

Fratton Park to undergo improvements!!!!
dronskisaint replied to saint boggy's topic in General Sports
A bomb would be the best money spent on improving that sh*thole. -
What do you mean turn in to?

Really?! I do Southampton from Great Yarmouth in about 3hrs 20 mins (sometimes less..can recommend the Snooper3Zero) at that time of night...I'd be surprised if Ipswich was 2.5hrs...different on the way there agreed.

Letting it become an issue is stupid...

+1!

The other f*ckers have taken their time to think that this may be more important than their holiday though...

Goes with my thanks and good wishes for his future. Would love for him to have stayed but once his greedy skate father had it put out that he wanted to go it was best that he did. Nice that he thanked all at Southampton for his development in the Arsenal website statement. Thanks also for the money...it will help a bit in getting up to where we need to be. Good business tactics from NC too if the deal was as it sounds!

I'm surprised there's enough room in a minibus for drivers to change seats....

I asked my mate 'What's your pet hate?' 'Having my K*ob up his a*se' came the reply...

It's only a let down if you take them at face value...these have all been just rumours. The exception would be Sharp about who the club commented so the rest can only be taken as speculation by journalists, fans, player's families or agents attempts to create situations for either the player's existing club or another. I could copy and paste a list of all the players in the leagues and I'd be as right with as many times as these 'links'...try not to build hopes on whispers would be my advice....quality has & will come to 'this football club' -the chances are you'll know when it happens...this is the SFC way!
