This really is a vacuous thread...not accusing you of any agendas but - 1) We don't and will never know the extent or even the reality of our interest in some of the names mentioned 2) We don't know who '4th official' or any of the derivations is, if he has any kind of knowledge or even if he's Al Faraj's brother 3) The transfers that have happened (in & out) have largely been conducted in private and have had a good outcome for Saints...that much IS known My belief is that a lot of the talk is generated by that zit on football which is the agent system. They don't get their way, they don't get their cut...they are the destabilising factor and masses of cr*p talk is hung on to by real fans who are desperate for their club to bring in and sign long term good and exciting players. On this Cortese/Adkins deliver. Shoot the agents, not the owners/directors/managers who are working in the best interests of the club...not their commission cheques!

I'm happy enough We have brought in good players on our terms...we may have missed out on other players because they or their clubs didn't like our terms. If they don't it seems that they whinge while we move on and announce when something actually does happen. The latter is professional, the former is not. And yes, Colin is a t*sser with an anti-Saints agenda

I don't give a sh*t what bookies may say - what odds would they have given on our current wins record, start, away wins etc? Small enough to keep them comfortable I suspect. Not saying that we are likely or odds on to do it but if I didn't think there was a possibility it would certainly diminish my enjoyment and I'd end up a miserable, pessimistic doom spreader...fluck 'em!

I still think he's excellent to have but not, obviously, for every game. To say he can't head is lunacy...he's dominant and positions himself to be first to the ball even when not favourite to be so. He did suffer a worrying period last year when he seemed to lose the ability and confidence to do simple passes to feet but this improved towards the end of the campaign. I think he's worth his contract extension to have available for the type of forwards mentioned earlier in this thread...his hunger to get involved last year was an example to much younger players.

If Barton can play for Newcastle then I suppose it's true that no matter how big a knut you are if you're good enough you'll play. However Saints seem to have a settled and happy squad (unlike Newcastle) and Puncheon's not as good a Barton so it seems unlikely. Did I mention that Barton is a knut?

Neither for me at this moment. Nothing particularly against either but do think we should attract better than this - as Joensuu says they have to be better than we have or add another dimension (i.e.speedy forward a la Rodrigues or Maynard)...the 'at the moment' bit allows for a month of loan window to come still and a reasonably well-covered squad if nobody was signed. Then there's January.....
