  1. Why? Watching on telly is a very second best but (from 200 odd miles away) appreciated experience but if I lived locally I'd be at every game...regardless of TV coverage.
  2. Only noticed it against Preston due to the low crowd numbers...also left it playing after the restart (although that might have been half-time) and had me shouting to turn it off..embarrassing! That's no from me then.
  3. This Also worth noting that Dune's 'natural' party of goverment was subject to the biggest walloping for over a century in 1997 when such denizens of political virtue as Neil Hamilton and Harvey Proctor were making Gordon Brown look electable and Mark Oaten look savoury. Politics is an inevitable cycle...but this is a relatively recent phenomenon in it's current form. The past century has shown a rejection of the Tory of the past and a constant pull towards the rights of all...not just the rich. Cameron may be a chinless Etonian with a background of wealth and privilege but to his predecessors he would be a raving leftie....this is the ongoing and inexorable trend and whist individual governments may move left and right (Blair to the right to win in '97 a classic example) the underlying revulsion at those that use their unearned privilege to gain power will assure that this tide continues to turn to a more just society - history is a powerful proof source.
  4. I'm not getting carried away here but Blackburn or Saints??!! One on the up...the other..well, not.
  5. I understand exactly what you're saying Chez and I think that the time will come when a player or opposing manager or even his boss will get to him and he'll be a little more cynical maybe. However I think he's riding what he's created and in the time that he has been here it is all positive...sure there have been the odd blips and there will be many more along the way. So far his method and enthusiasm have seen it through and we (as a team/club) have bounced back which in itself is an endorsement of the philosophy. I like that he doesn't single out players, referees, opposing teams etc to moan at....we come out of it looking classier than those that are forever blaming someone/something (look not far down the road for the prime example) and if we do cock up he's largely honest enough to admit it. I worried that he didn't seem to be keen enough to join us when he appeared to be prevaricating when leaving Sc*nthorpe but I now realise that it was a wrestle with his integrity and a desire to see the right thing done - in football today particularly in the light of some stuff that's happened this last week it's refreshing to find...and good for us to have 'on the bus'. Someone said his interviews are like a middle-management manual on tape...I think I've never found one quite so effective. Cliched certainly but effective without any shadow of doubt.
  6. It's in the Adkins interview on the OS...no contact either way. Never mind...it's been mass-debated over here hasn't it!?
  7. You know the words to Sospan Fach?
  8. I think I must be getting old....got so **** faced last night that I couldn't even find my car so I took a bus. Never driven one before but it got me home
  9. This presupposes that there is a savoury side to capitalism....
  10. You're allergic to heights...your symptoms will disappear as if by magic should we ever drop lower down the league. You'll, of course, forgive me for hoping the symptoms persist? :-)
  11. I give up...who is 'bird is this'?
  12. Yes please and Docker-P - do one!
  13. Good observation - I cuss and swear as much as anyone when my red and white specs are on but this is spot on - undoubtedly thr result, I'm afraid, of the scrutiny that TV has brought to the game.
  14. Done the wrong date thing on booking a hotel...had business in Prestwick so decided to stay at the posh hotel that you always see on the Open Golf tournaments...name escapes me ...and turned up a week early having hit a wrong button - and no, the South Beach in Ayr is nothing special! Only other one was arranging to deliver a sailboard to a guy with a very Narfolk accent pre the days of satnav etc. Wrote down the address as Harleston only to find after many puzzled looks when asking for the road directions that he lived in Hellesdon...taught me to make allowances for accents!
  15. Except that if embarrassment was in their DNA they would have died of it in droves over the last few years!
  16. Good read...can be forgiven for attributing the Wilkins era to Adkins but has got in to the spirit of what's happened. My understanding of the Pardew breakdown in the relationship with Cortese (unsure about the other rumours) was that he felt that Pardew never bought in to the whole picture and felt that he was too good for the club. I guess we'll never know but even if it was just that they couldn't get on then that's reason enough and it's changed the course of our recent history - and more miraculously it's changed our expectation and ambition. I enjoyed the League 1 experience, much to my surprise, I much prefer the direction we're heading now. Happy Anniversary Nigel...!
  17. First match I've missed...sounded like we made it hard work for ourselves against a talented side! Phew Fantastic run of home wins continues....let's not hear too much negativity - to play less than your best and still win is how promotions are won! On an unrelated tangent...sounds like Mitchell lost it at Bompey.
  18. Enjoyed reading that - thanks! Couple of them have ended up at a local (to me) non-league team - Lowestoft Town who also have Boncho (sp?) Guenchev's son playing for them..there has always been a strong link between the two even back when I used to play...Laurie Sivell, Terry Butcher and Richard Money were players who went the other way back then.
  19. Or indeed the opposite....it depends on whether you have an intellect or not:facepalm:
  20. Magnanimous of you...if I was in your position I'm sure I'd want it to go away....wake up in the morning and it's all better but you obviously fail to see how much sheer fun there is to be had in baiting you skates to come over here...put up your puerile defences of your putrid little fester pit. What, too, is evident is that you don't realise (or won't) that what your club epitomises is all that's bad in football....the overspending, the fleecing of the local businesses, the depriving of the tax funded institutions of their revenue with all that entails school, policing and hospital wise... the fact even that your 'club' is not just taking the p*ss out of the various footballing bodies but out of you. You turn up to a rusting sh*thole that if it was a public (rather than private) toilet it would have been condemned years ago...you pay through the nose to do so and stand under a leak next to a (admittedly dwindling) crowd of inbreds while they make sure that they pocket their fat salaries while you suffer. Until you and your bunch of fish fdondling mates realise that it's never going to change...and you'll then maybe you will realise that the world of football does despise you...this magnificent (thanks Nigel) thread is just the figurehead for the wave of loathing that exists for your rotting carcase of a diseased ex-club. Still, it's bacon butties tonight...fluck your luck...just don't even dream that this will go away whilst you still continue to be everything that I've described above...bye skate!
  21. I thought the same this morning when I saw it...not a position we are really short of options in though? Did well for Fulham..always looked class when I've seen him play
  22. For Seaborne a bespoke version Got a bang on the head Now he's back from the dead One Danny Seaborne He's back from the dead Totally tasteless and not funny for his family but it's there to be rejected....
