  1. Signposts? NB Llangollen :-)
  2. I'd suggest not eating old furniture in the first place....
  3. Fantastic...in a hotel in Canada and felt like I was there!! Thanks for posting
  4. PMT? You seem very grumpy!
  5. Nothing personal sfc1971 but translation is below: I've heard a rumour that I believe more than all the other rumours I've heard and now, on the basis of that, I dislike Pardew as much a sagflaps. AP brought in good players, left and is now doing a good job with Newcastle. Thanks Alan, for the cup and the good grounding - we've now got another good manager and more good players. Moving on it's called
  6. 1) Possibly 2) Not of TV rights - that's their point 3) Southampton brand should be strong in the 'emigrant' countries...that's where we should start.
  7. Wish I was going but flying to Canada...for my twopence worth we stay as against Watford. Not sure if Connolly is fit but that might be the only change. I think we lose something if Cork and Hammond are not playing together...it's tough on Chappers to do so well and tough on Morgan and SDR and Guly too but if we're serious about promotion this season we have to go beyond personal ambition - I'm hoping that the players have got this message, they seem to be singing the same song. Brilliant to have these choices though...how different to when we las played in this league!
  8. What with the 'big society' taking up all the slack it's amazing that charities still have a role eh? Other than providing services slashed by caring Cameron of course!
  9. That's a good shout!
  10. Another straight as you like Tory grandee....lining his mate's pocket...or is that too gruesome an image?
  11. I'd wondered what you did for a living in Paradise;)
  12. I hate it...and summer Saturdays but at least the weather is nicer then. F*ck internationals anyway...never ever bothered when there wasn't a Saints player interest.
  13. Perhaps when on a proper keyboard you could also respond to my question of the use of the word 'rubbish' in the context that I questioned it in my reply to you. I'm unsure if I'm one of those described in the 'idiots' description so if you could explain either that you haven't been to many grounds so have a limited source of reference...that's fine in itself...I'm not accusing you of not being a 'uberfan' or any other such agenda but it would possibly put in to context a statement which, in my opinion, is factually incorrect. I also queried why it would be necessary to use an emotive word like 'rubbish' when, as you are now explaining, what you meant is that it had the potential to be so much more. To me that's a little like saying that if the BMW had spent that much more on the 7 series then it could have been a Rolls Royce...they are both cars and even share some mechanical components but it doesn't warrant the BMW being described as rubbish surely? Can I add my name to those asking which stadia are so much better than St Mary's?
  14. Suspension - It's the only way the 'quality over quantity' squad can get a rest!
  15. The world has lost a great innovator...condolences to all connected (!)
  16. That's poor...we would have raised more by passing a bucket around! Not knocking the motives but that's just shameful!
  17. I'm not sure how many other grounds you go to but St Mary's, whilst not being in any way unique in design style, provides a good bowl of noise when full and reasonable access in terms of people getting in and out and their experience whilst inside is as good as any other that I've been to. Rubbish is a wrong and emotive adjective to use which makes me question both your comparative set and your reasons for using it? Because I live a couple of hundred miles away (sadly) I probably see as many away games as home and to describe St Mary's in such a way is just lacking in knowledge of what actually is in place elsewhere. I enjoyed The Dell, I enjoyed Peterborough and Rochdale last year as a period piece set of reminders...I also went to Colchester which would probably be the one that matches your description. We have so much better...not saying that it's perfect or that it's goinfg to be big enough for ever but try reading what other fans say about it? One final point - the fans provide the character, charisma and atmosphere...St Mary's has some of the best in the country...I'd say the best but I would be biased.
  18. Make yourself feel good...compare it with nottarF kraP!
  19. Pasted from the Yahoo site largely for the comment highlighted but a sensible reflecton and analogy nevertheless and I hate Murdoch to the degree I won't have Sky or buy his sh*tty rags:- 'And then there is the landlady of a humble south coast pub who is taking the tyranny of the Premier League to task in the European Court of Justice. What with it being an international week, the story has been like manna from heaven for football columnists who would otherwise have had to make a big song-and-dance about Danny Welbeck calling team-mate Rio Ferdinand - missing from the current England squad - "a Rolls-Royce of a defender". Karen Murphy, who runs the Red White & Blue pub in a down-at-heel area of Portsmouth - known to locals as 'Portsmouth' - was claiming victory yesterday after the ECJ backed her right to use a Greek satellite box to show Premier League football to her punters at a cheaper rate than she would have to pay Sky. While the subscription with Nova actually costs more than a Sky package, doing so means she can screen 3pm kick-offs, something which has long been protected to safeguard against attendances dropping at games across the board. Murphy's argument is that a broadcasting company should not be able to dictate how much she has to pay for their service when she can get the product from another, foreign-based provider for far less per game. While it is easy to sympathise with anyone trying to run a pub when they are closing up and down the country at such an alarming rate in these difficult times, this is the reality of product licensing. Imagine how Fuller's, the brewery which owns her pub, would feel if she started selling Young's bitter on tap because she could get barrels of it on the cheap. Love it!
  20. Not as good as we've got in my opinion
  21. Me May 1st 1976....late-ish evening.. 'Letsh get married....' Still, 35 years later, the stupidest thing I ever said!
  22. Not meant to imply that you did - was just co-joining the two sets of figures to show both the impossibility of them keeping within the parameters required by the CVA and the income vs expenditure disparity highlighted from the previous page. The word 'toast' has not been aired for a while but it's difficult (to my simple business-running mind anyway) to see how they can survive on the income that's available...maybe the Russians will support up to a degree but there seems little prospect that they'll be able to reach the required percentage dictated by UEFA to pay the wages out of gate income when this becomes law. But then when have they ever complied with legal or moral niceties? The whole sewer of a club is forever tainted..I still think Blue Square in five years either by relegation or banishment.
  23. So...to borrow a bit from Chin Strain's post on the previous page to highlight the wages debacle - 'How on earth do you reckon gates of 12 - 16k pay 2 strikers on £20k per week, a centre half on £36k a week and Varney and Norris on at least £12k a week, plus whatever Benjani is on (and bear in mind he said he was going to sign for Blackburn again in the summer - I guess you're paying him more money than they are). That's without bringing the likes of Halford into the equation.' ....then you have 5 players who have used £100k of your 110k budget and still have 6 left to pay out of the other £10k if the £10k average is to be maintained...but they don't use youngsters as we did when strapped for cash...so how...perhaps this is why they charge mascots for the privilege...half the P*mpey team obviously pay for the 'pleasure'....or else they aren't keeping to the agreement - which would be cheating....wouldn't it?!
  24. Dune said ....'people like Nigel Farage speaking the truth against career politicians i'd be very optimistic.' You see - I might have taken this thread seriously if you hadn't written that...even Farage realises he's a comic strip idiot figure! Only might have, mark you....
