I can remember an interview with Rupert where they were discussing the cost of both Wembley and the Millenium Stadia. He said they had budgeted on approximately one million per thousand seats and had slightly bettered their target. His point, I believe, was that Wembley had been hugely mismanaged. As against that costing I'm guessing that approximately three times + per thousand seats wouldn't be far away given what's been said on here - I have no other building knowledge but loosely ties in with the Brighton ground (a prettier, glorified version of Colchester's!)

Not sure it needs dragging up again...perhaps Claus (much as I admired him) needs to stay in the limelight and get paid for the quotes...just having to drag up the less run of the mill type to keep his income flowing. Saddened really - not what I like associated with him, MLT or Saints particularly as we prepare for this of all seasons.

There's a post on Ugly Inside that we've bid £3m for K Schmeichal

It would be nice if it were true..the barsteward was inspired against us at their place. Can't help feeling that the money he is on would be right up there given he was signed in the Sven 'money no object' era. -
Absolutely...1.5 million a year on a 3 year contract would make a 4.5 million player with his wages all paid. In reality there will have been a signing on fee etc as well but it's still excellent business...remembering that we lost Surman and the others when we had our troubles so nice to balance the scales a little in our ongoing good karma spell!

Good luck Whitey...you are in good hands...and not just hands apparently!

Er...you just responded.....?

Gets better...this time Appleton has to supply the training ground...perhaps he can delegate recruiting bogrolls to the massively surplus new boy! Maybe the pikey residents can graze their horses as thereare no lawnmowers and some chav's sister/wife/mother can ply here evening trade on it and roll the pitch at the same time.... I love this thread :-)

+1 Someone else should have your cat's cr ap? Couple of spoonfuls of cement powder mixed with each feed should shorten the duration of the issue and possibly provide a ready made headstone?

Was the Fuctas 'offer' not the activation of an existing clause in his current contract? Skates would probably point out that his income may go up or down according to market forces of course!

Ah...the sound of a penny dropping.....happy news twice over!

Great for him, great for the club...someone noticing our progress even if it's Pearce. I felt he was often the 'unsung' cog in the machine last season that made it all happen. Good player to cover a few positions for them which is probably why he got in ahead of Lallana.
-
But alternatively it increases the average league position by two divisions (currently...could be many more if justice prevails) WTFILN?

I'll try and help... All over St Mary's (and other grounds I've been to) there are pictures of all types...Players, past glories, burgers, pies, beer, trains(!), adverts for events, club emblems...Liverpool make a big thing of their 'This is Anfield' slogan....there are statues, posters advertising the next games - I know you know all this because you've probably been to more games and grounds (I'd probably doubt the latter because I'm an old f art who likes driving and has been to a good percentage of the league grounds) but the correlation I'm trying to make is that it's all about creating the experience of identitifying with the match-going and all that goes with it You may say (and probably you and I would be the same in this) is that you're a dyed in the wool, hard-core Saints fan and you don't need this to be a Saints fan, that you find it embarrassing (I don't incidentally) but at some stage you got hooked..possibly first time you went (I did) and I'm sure you didn't notice the posters, the next fixtures board, the advertisements, the club flags and emblems or the tannoy announcements but they were all part of the experience, These are part of the modern day equivalent of the same - you may hate that it's more scientifically thought out, that suited whizz kids are probably employed to produce the images and slogans but it's all part of the same 'come along and be a part of this' ethos that's been around since football club competitions have been in existence. You might dislike the medium, you might take an irrational hatred against the look in a player's eyes or a slogan that you don't think befits your image of your club but that image has been shaped by the forerunners of just this type of thing and you are a product of it. Whether I like or dislike it is immaterial but as it happens I'd prefer Saints related pictures to grey corrugated iron or a big airline logo...and in the latter you have the major part of the reasoning....that airline paid a fortune to put that logo there because they wanted to be a part of something positive, something that made people feel good...do I need to go on?

A day of loving both strips....quality MLG!

So did winning consecutive promotions or wearing the sash for the first time in over a century. It's red and white, it's got a Saints badge...I love it all the more for the fact it creates such interesting conversation on a forum...........!

I like it - it oozes Premier League class...prefer the away shirt but wtf is there to moan about?!
-
I might be naive, not being a twitterer, but I didn't read it as a criticism - I'm glad that there are people who hold the rumour-mongers to account so please keep asking the questions and expose the cowpooers.
-
My first thought.....oh please let it happen!

Thank you +1

A figurine perhaps, an ornament...a gargoyle from a small church roof?
