An eloquent argument but I think that he offers more variation than our alternatives. He can be the 'knock down at the far post' target, he has a superb touch and weights and times his through balls better than any other forward on our books - Lallana and Gaston are his only peers in this. On top of all that he can hold up play, take a battering from the two opposition markers who are usually designated to watch him. I know you weren't knocking but I just think that there are many other elements of his game (and I haven't even mentioned penalties, free kicks and open play scoring) that make him essential to our cause this season.

It's an opinion on you and your opinions not an attack on the club that most posters on here support and who view your opinions as such...I've not called you either troll or skate(skate opinions carry no weight here anyway) nor, I think, lunatic but I cannot understand why everything has to be viewed from a negative perspective - hence amateur psycho-analysis on your perspective of life in general on the evidence of your postings here...as I did state.

Which should give you an idea of how your posts are viewed... I accept that you are psychologically incapable of seeing things other than in the negative and I suspect this is not confined to this board but I don't know you so perhaps you are a bundle of fun...I'd like to say the jury is out but judging only from this board I'd say that they've come to a verdict! I don't doubt that you are Saints through and through - unlike some that post here - but your posts are aggressively finger pointing, negative in the massive extreme so it's not hard to see why you attract such vitriol from a board that is made up of supporters...this doesn't mean they can see no evil, only that they can see beyond the worst case scenario that, with respect, jumps out of your every utterance.

- Sadly there will be those on here nodding enthusiastically as they sharpen their razors...rather than their wits :-)

A valid and reasoned opinion on an opinion in my opinion. I also believe that Jos is capable of being a solid and competent defender at this level. He strikes me as being very much a confidence player - evidenced by his spell at Celtic where, in my opinion, he was treated poorly by fans and management but we all have our own crosses to bear in that department. When he was playing regularly last season he played with enough skill and vision to make me (once again my opinion) think that he would not struggle at this level - I think it was probably the right decision to take him out of the firing line following the early matches and rebuild his confidence and we did have a competent replacement in Yoshida. It seems that he has the confidence of the rest of the team and I'd be comfortable with him coming in - not sure why people are making judgements based on so little after what he showed he was capable of last year?

You're just getting even more boring with your puerile protestations...'methinks he doth protest too much' could have been written about you. I refer you to my invitation to look at your own posting record and then ask yourself why a number of posters have made the same deduction...if it posts like a skate, if it makes too many protestations about not being a skate, if it rattles on in a constantly negative and derogatory way about Saints like a skate then it probably is a skate! Now call that a stock answer if you like, call me names if it pleases you but do try hard to understand that it's your complete lack of subtlety that gives your gill-ridden proclivities away.
