I'm in exile so don't have a vote but listened to the R5 debate for a couple of hours as I drove back from London yesterday. Much anger expressed as the the 'gagged' Ms Hutchings didn't even turn up...out photo opportunity seeking with Camoron and so sent the Meon MP to represent her...he struggled with her views on education in the area!! Head of Cherbourg Primary and a retired 6th Form College lecturer took him to bits. Liberal guy sounded like a good local option...started by apologising for his predecessor which apparently Clegg hasn't yet. Labour guy sounded well-connected but is from out of the area.....he did point out that Eastleigh voted Lib Dem last time to keep the Tories out whereas this time the same vote would keep them in! UKIP woman was just a refugee from the far right of the Tories...banging on about immigrants whether the question was about energy, education, local isssues...whatever. Several disenchanted Tories in the audience did say that they would vote UKIP though....sort of bears out Solentstars point above! Interesting stuff, I was out of the car by the time they did the independents, sadly,there looks to be some air time fun time I missed! My father was a head teacher in Eastleigh in the sixties...I think he'll be spinning in his grave at the Hutchings comment!!

Good question Lord T but here's another..I know you know the world of banking! I looked at what was on offer at the time on a 12k loan for a car back in 2003 and the PPI that I was sold appeared (after a few calls and questions) to be reasonable value as compared with others around. Now this was with Northern Rock who also offered the best value (for me not their shareholders!) interest rate and the consequences of their business model are well documented. When I looked back (on being approached by their claims department) I really do think the cover I had was fit for purpose...is this possible? Should I just claim for the sake of it, I wonder, or did some of the packages do what they said on the box? Appreciate advice/experience?

A good read, thanks, echoes many of the conversations that I've had about him. I also agree that he should be the first central defender on the team sheet...his two-footedness is a major bonus for us. Could yet be the signing of the season?

I don't think it's possible to hire a self-drive 7.5 ton any more...as a company we used to but somewhere in the last ten years or so they brought in a regulation that you had to have an Operator's License to hire one...not sure if that's applicable to private hire but it looks like it from the other replies. I'd suggest looking at the van with driver ads...it was quite a sensible price to move a large Boat Show stand and kit as compared with two 3.5 ton versions and was well within the weight limit (more difficult with the smaller ones).

Interesting that you see it in such a simplistic way? I wouldn't have thought that rational thinking would produce such an 'either/or' result. Can a person who supports team or club not also applaud the good decisions and bemoan the bad ones. Do you not have mates or acquaintances who can't get on? From my personal perspective I've supported Saints for over 50 years, idolised Matt the player and enjoyed Matt the person's company when I've briefly been in it or Matt the pundit - does this disqualify me from being able to see both the positive and the negative things about NC? I felt lousy about the Pardew and the Adkins sackings...I also felt let down by Matt's 'spot betting' revelations but that doesn't mean I have to take sides and speak from one agenda or the other surely?!! I feel these things because for better or for worse I'm a Saints fan but to express the opinion that you have is playground-mentality, agenda-driven cr*p...in my opinion - in the cold light of the day can you logically defend your 'touching' loyalty to one side of an argument to the exclusion of all others?

I was at that game...we thought he was the next everything! Sadly he only turned in a few good performances per season and discovered more blind alleys than a footie pitch should posess! Remember him with the same affection as I do the era....magical times for a teenager!

In my opinion he's good enough ...after the acclimatisation culture shock that he and Jos, in particular, suffered at the start of the season they've not let us down. Of course Shaw is currently ahead but he has not sufferred a drop in form or bad injury yet - Fox is a maturing (in a PL sense) and competent replacement.

That's strange...I thought it sounded brilliant - the ESPN feed commentators also commented on the volume and the atmosphere...compared it favourably with The Dell but I wasn't there so defer to those who were.

Were you even watching? I agree that he took his time to settle in this league but yesterday he played well...really not sure where that post came from?
