  1. The highlighted bit is an excellent yardstick
  2. Interesting question that questions the motivation for following as we/others do. I don't really ever see it as having been a choice or a decision to make...from as young as I can remember I've been a Saints supporter and it's just been part of my make-up ever since and all that goes with it. It's been difficult to watch my son go through the Liverpool/MU success-folowing bandwagon as he grew up but, unlike me, he didn't grow up in Hampshire. He got there in the end and follows nearly as avidly as me now but kids in non-footballing hotbeds (I live near Lowestoft on the East Coast) have a lot of peer pressure and access to far more football on the box than those of my generation ever did and I wanted him to come to his own conclusions rather than force mine on him...all's well etc. That being said his son, my first grandchild's first ever item of clothing was a 'My first Saints kit' and he gets the RLSGM song as a lullaby so I'm not making the same mistake again!!
  3. But which side would they play him on?
  4. Lord Trousers -I raise my hat to your memory and search skills! I don't agree with Gemmell that Mero is a decent skate (contradiction of terms?)...he's just a below-average intelligence interloper on a rival team board...does he get it? Nope, does he fluck...the comparative posts provided by Trousers show exactly why any skate (I have one exception) who posts on here should have derision, scorn, facts (now there's a concept!) poured upon them. Sure I know the relief of having a club to support...we looked over that precipice and I hated it and dreaded the thought but they've now found their level and they should accept that they are incredibly fortunate to be there for us to sh*t from a great height on to. They do not deserve to have survived and many football and non-football people have suffered so that it can be so. My message...if you can't take what's due - fluck off from our board! The exception - Mack, of course...he gets it and with originality and humour :-)
  5. You're there to be derided, clunt...it's your only function in life. Know your place...and wash occasionally?
  6. My 'up your own arse' comment was, I thought obviously, aimed at the arrogance of your assumption that only those of your mindset were worthy of having their opinion listened to. That, again I thought obviously, doesn't mean that I don't agree with some part of it....I see you also agree with my expansion of the theme. There can be very little 'exact science' in player selection - you can, of course, have a player at the top of his game who suits your system, knows the players around him who can have, unaccountably, a crisis of confidence or a below par game for whichever team he turns out for. Brazil last night being a case in point...Oscar was sh*t as was Hulk (by their own high standards)...but their class is apparent. Jo...cr*p over here and in the international wilderness for five years comes on and for the second time in successive matches produces the goods....boosting his confidence, value etc, etc. I didn't actually join the clamour for Ricky's call up last year...love the bloke to bits but his value is within his understanding with Lallana and the players that he has blitzed two divisions with...and his excellent linkage, weight of pass and touch to know where they'll be and vice versa. That wasn't what he was being mooted for an England call up for. In reality I think we agree on the main footballing issues...I just put mine up as an opinion...not the only right way - I have a little more respect than that.
  7. How far up your own orifice do you get before it gets dark?!..................... 'They'.......................... don't listen? Naturally there is an obligation to accept everything that a couple of SADs (sneerers and detractors...I am indebted to Canada Saint for the acronym) say on a forum as if it were any more valid than any other opinion?! For what it's worth I largely agree with a settled squad but there has to be room for a player who is playing at the top of his game for the immediate benefit to the team and for the effect on confidence the inclusion may have in years to come. Most managers are scared to step out of the 'safe' route and who knows how many questions could have been answered by giving the form player a chance?
  8. Engine management system?...probably worth taking it to an Audi diagnostic centre...it's £90 to plug in I think and you may not like what it tells you about your car but at least you'll know (all the things ) what's wrong.
  9. I'd dearly love to....nastiest little piece of sh ite ever to darken our doors (and I remember Lowe and Wise )
  10. Go to a lot of matches do you?
  11. You had to be 6ft to see above the surface..unreal to see some of the old footage. The Dell was more of a beach than a bog by February
  12. My hero throughout the sixties, I feel privileged to have seen him play in a team that was made for him...RIP big Ron and thanks for the memories.
  13. So sorry for him and his family, respect to the club and Ricky
  14. It's his opinion, he's there to big up the club...not sure why it would worry you? Aim for the sun, hit the moon perhaps...personally I'd be disappointed with anything less than automatic Champions League qualification
  15. Went to the Echo 'Greatest Saints Player' competition winner last year...great night! Mike Osman compered and there was no more than mild banter about the new management.
  16. You wouldn't understand the word guts beyond that flabby mass around your torso...that was a performance that took real character to come back after going a goal down. Is lack of guts the reason RL missed so many today that he'd normally have buried? Did anyone shirk tackles, did anyone stop giving their all?! No - you are just depressively incapable of seeing beyond your own negativitity...I'd call you a c*nt but they have uses!
  17. I was at that game...he let in a ridiculously simple shot. My memory will be this thread - thank fork he's no longer our embarrassment!
  18. Third goal for me...takes a three goal cushion before I let myself believe...and then it hit home
  19. Why would we want one of the best playing surfaces in the country chewed up by a bunch of fat blokes pushing, shoving and gouging holes in it? Plenty of sh*t pitches..let them defile them!
  20. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/feature-interview-morgan-schneiderlin-800173.aspx A great read - particularly interesting for me is what he reveals about the early times, picking up on but not understanding the tensions from the crowd and players. We're lucky to have him, appears to have a fantastic attitude.
