  1. I wish him the very best - he gave everything every time he played and, I think, was upset at the way the fans turned on him. Will always be a hero as part of that incredible run of promotions. I also heard good things about his off pitch activities - he turned up with AL at a local school where a youngster had been having a hard time and he made the day for a lot of the kids there. I only know of this one incident but it seems that he was a big part of the good stuff that the players do (largely unsung) in the community. Thanks Danny, you were part of something very special and appear to be a really nice human being as well - Good luck for your future!
  2. Premier League players should be the very best and the fittest that they are capable of being - it's obvious that if they smoke that they are compromising this and can only achieve a lower percentage of a player who doesn't. Against the player's own potential fitness they are short-changing the club that they're playing for - they should not, as professional sportsmen - smoke at all.
  3. I chuckled...slightly guiltily
  4. I'm no way ITK, have only passed on one verifiable whisper in my time on here but from the same source apparently there have been issues to do with his 30 a day habit... Make of that what you will...I only assume it meant cigarettes?!
  5. You must be in a masturbatory heaven you sad skate clunt:yawn:
  6. You're listening to the sound of your own drivel....
  7. He's paid for his contract many times over with his contribution to getting us in to the PL and a great signing on that basis alone. Any other attributes are going to be enjoyed by other clubs but he did the job for us Thanks Billy, good luck!
  8. Good opening of her account with the fans - some encouraging wording and I like the smiles bit. Can't find a lot not to like...why would I be looking to anyway?
  9. Applause smiley thing!
  10. He has to be sent off for that - ludicrous refereeing!
  11. Always good to see Mack...the other whining illiterate only crawls out from his stone if something pokes him - usually then followed by another gargantuan failure at the cesspit so sit back and help yourself to popcorn...
  12. The most contradictory post on this thread:mcinnes:!! You start with 'But he wasn't even a good businessman....' and proceed to tell how he turned a 14million investment in to 150 million!! Genius
  13. It's the ugly face of Scargill capitalism leering at you from the bookshelves
  14. For the mods' sake I trust you can substantiate that statement?
  15. Astute and driven man who made all the right important business calls, we as fans of the club owe him a great deal...possibly even the club as we know it. He has been the architect of one of the most succesful turnabouts in recent footballing history. I unequivocally thank him for everything he did for the club right from introducing Markus up to establishing us in the PL. Sure he had good access to money but our position today is testament to the fact he spent mostly wisely. The lower leagues (and the current bottom clubs in the PL) bear witness to the fact that money poorly administered can create even greater problems..QPR, West Ham...skates even?! I would welcome any consortium that included him at it's head, he's earnt the right to be here if he wants to be - it could be that the call of Serie A is the driver for his decison to leave...he's not made many wrong calls whilst with us - I hope he has the same success rate in whatever he chooses to do. Thank you Nicola Cortese for what you have done and achieved for my club, good luck for the future.
  16. No We don't need the money We can't buy a better 18 year old (although we have one coming through perhaps?) We only add people to the squad who will improve it - by that logic we also don't sell for the same reason.
  17. Obviously a post from someone who doesn't go to games - not ours anyway! He tries that sort of thing regularly and when it comes off it makes the difference, he'll be a class player for us as long as we keep playing to his strengths which I understand to be the 'Southampton way' and developing the squad with players of his class - whether brought through or bought. Yesterday MP saw the need for his creativity over Cork (who aside from a couple of loose passes played very well) and it paid off..it won't every time but great to be able to call on that kind of class.
  18. I see your McBusted and raise you one Hearsay... I'm going to take one of my pills now!
  19. It's not a bad return on what he's done both good and bad. At one time (when he was loaned out, bad mouthed the club etc) I would have cheerfully seen his arse kicked out of the club for much less but give him credit for his re-invention. Also we have probably seen the best of him...for all the Ramirez detractors ...the best of him could be yet to come, who knows, he's still very young. If he comes good the money will look well-spent, an investment in the future. It's the Southampton way! :-)
  20. Really you should just f**k off back to your skate forum you boring, agenda-ridden, pathetically illiterate, pond-life IQ'd skate scum. Is that sort of abuse acceptable do you think? And I'm not paid to be impartial and make decisions that affect many thousands of people and millions of pounds. As I've said before nobody knows the content of the letter but for the club to make a complaint it must have felt that fairness or competence, perhaps both, were questionable. I fully support the club's stance.
  21. I like the part (and it was a big part) he played in our rise - he was excellent at Championship level. But most of all I like his attitude - I can't ever remember him not taking time at the end of a game to clap the supporters...home and away. A little ironic given the the short memories and ingratitude shown by a minority on here.
  22. Good post - I'll always be grateful that his drive and personality gelled a good squad that he (mostly) improved by being given resources that other L1 & Championship managers could only dream of - his excellent and proven record is in getting teams promoted from lower leagues which made him an ideal candidate for Reading. His PL record, however harsh it may seem, is not yet proven, is not that good - which is why I'm not sure there is great substance in this although they gave Clark his chance?
  23. Perhaps if you read my post a bit further up and tell me which bit you disagree with? Genuinely interested, I find Clattenburg's comments to be completely non-commensurate with his position.
  24. So if Lallana had said 'You used to be very different when you reffed FL, you're very different now you're in the PL' Would it have been taken : 1) As a compliment 2) As an insult 3) As a time passing moment in the game Then put in the scenario when one of the two has just controversially affected the possible outcome of the game and is supposed to be even-handed in his treatment of both sides and how you would feel if you felt (knew given the evidence) that you had been unjustly treated by someone who then delivers a personal 'remark' about your persona? Utterly unprofessional in my opinion if true (and nobody has confirmed or denied the statement) - but if true he should be demoted, suspended for a month for that on top of his lack of ability to make sound judgements. The club are right to bring it up, if it's a true account then Clattenberg should be disciplined by his employer, not have it shuffled to one side on a wishy-washy 'no case to answer'...Lallana felt and voiced that he had been the victim of an awful decision - to then have his character questioned by a supposedly impartial official is just wrong from whichever standpoint you take!
