  1. I hope you are a prophet...Poorsmyth wouldn't know about those!
  2. St Richmond said 'but deals SHOULD have been done before now. At this stage, all of the GOOD Buys have been snapped up' With respect this is total nonsense...at what stage did you know that any of our signings were about to be snapped up by someone else? The emphasis is on quality....we don't go 'Arry blabbing about targets any more - a lot of the players we've signed haven't even been overtly for sale. Some trust in the way things have happened & are happening with this aspect of the club will go a long way to making the negative posters & the foretellers of doom plus those with ridiculous anti-Cortese agendas day to day lives a whole lot happier....try it?
  3. Very interesting read as you say. It appears that, in addition to alienating all the creditors, taxpayers, clubs beaten by them whilst using illegally funded players & right thinking, fair minded citizens they will now become the pariah that caused the leagues to be investigated & clubs to become credible businesses. The last point (from our position of being run by business people) is no bad thing...the bonus is that Poorsmyth will be hated by so many more for instigating it. Great read!
  4. I'm pretty pleased we've signed the best two full backs in the division - one who can also play wing/left midfield effectively as well. I'm glad that these were achieved professionally & without hysterical rumour-mongering or any hint of panic - as have all our current regime signings. I expect other signings to happen in the same manner...I'm pleased that we don't do signings for the sake of it any more & that when we do we sign quality. Why on earth would I find anything to be disappointed about - unless I was looking for it?
  5. Actually looking for pieces of their anatomy over their shoulders...bless him!
  6. He's absolutely right - the FL put up a bit of token resistance then bent over smiling! Yes - they allowed the PL to dictate the terms &, from reports at the time, put down an ultimatum that carried threat but no hope of institution of that threat & that's a lousy business position to put yourself in. The Championship clubs were always going to grasp the deal as many of them desperately need money today...the better deal would have been one that spread the money more evenly through the FL. He won't make himself popular talking good business sense to a closed 'club' but he's right.
  7. Excellent news...also prevents serious injury caused by those nearby inserting them where they undoubtedly belong!
  8. Happy Birthday...I hope your year is fantastic! If it is it'll probably be down to a team playing well & a settled industrial climate...so no self-interest here then! Have a good one!
  9. Exiled up yere in Narfuk the local paper is saying he's expected to sign for Norwich...the implication was that Gillingham had jacked(!) up the price to them.
  10. A certain Anthony Pulis in action for the Saints XI against Winchester. Appears to be the only non-youth player in the line-up. Makes you wonder what sort of contract was given & why?!
  11. I didn't - is this true?
  12. Blokes moan about beer - it's not the club, it's not personal - it's just a fact of life like women going shopping! I like Carlsberg...Guinness? The Oirish deserve it...it's watered down tarmac blended with bog water!
  13. Note to light plane pilot - fail!
  14. Puncheon, Schneiderlin? What a squad we're assembling!
  15. I'd pay whatever it cost....if I couldn't afford it I wouldn't go. What those that moan don't seem to realise is that support is not a choice...I've sacrificed things in my younger days to go to matches, now I'm a little more comfortable financially it doesn't hurt so much but I still have that same compulsion, addiction, desire to see matches (I live 250 miles away) so I make it happen whenever time allows. I had a season ticket last year & loved every chance I got to use it. Fess up - it's an addiction or even an affliction but I wouldn't change any of that!
  16. Have faith....they've not made many mistakes so far - it's the sign of a well-run business that the opposition doesn't get to know about your plans until it's done. Note the lack of comment re Calderon? Well it didn't happen - what does that tell you? We're now conducting business professionally...no squinty 'ints about bringing in players you 'fancy' thus having an unsettling effect on both the present incumbent & the 'target'. No unrealistic. ego-driven big names dropped in as 'targets' (except by us...fans!) just quietly announcing the results when they happen. in my business we don't plaster details of the new model that we're working on until it's launched. What's not to like?
  17. Cortese - close the thread now ffs....roll on the season!
  18. I know what you mean but as a midfielder Lallana scored more goals than most recognised strikers in L1 last year so is a versatile option 2 right backs, a central midfielder & a cover striker would be plenty for me.
  19.
  20. Why would we even think about it? Had a chance, was crap, blew that chance....many better options without any baggage or attitude.
  21. A lot less flies though...I'd settle for that:)
  22. Yes If you can prove you need your licence for your job then it will be considered by the magistrates when adjudicating. Expect a large fine & to drive very carefully until the points fall off at the end of three years...the alternative is to plead for a short ban which will allow you to clear the points, hopefully keep your job while you take the ban as holiday...paid &/or unpaid. The other downside (& I speak as an employer of a number of drivers) is that your company insurer may not cover a driver with 12 points so it's as well to check first with them. Good luck - I used to drive 80-90,000mls a year + & however diligent you might intend to be there are so many cameras etc around that it statistically increases the chances over a 'Social, domestic & pleasure' driver of being caught.
