  1. Arcadia Gaydemak?
  2. It did cross my mind that you are sharing the same dealer....
  3. Er no. I support Southampton not any individual so whenever I am able & have enough cash I will go. I remember the godawful prospect of not being able to do that & count my blessings.
  4. I'm sure of that...happy, positive, joke, cheerful have not featured in your postings in essence, content or intent in the time I've been reading this board. I worry about the revolving door reputation that has dogged our club & I'm also certain that the number of managers that we have had has been a major (but not the only) factor in our being in L1. However - we have a club...against the odds at some point last year - & this is down to the constant that we have in charge at the moment so, in my humble & non happy-clappy opinion we should get behind his decision whoever it turns out to be & back him. We are still going up this year - as long as we back the club. Personnel are transitory
  5. My day so far.... Shocked first of all & appalled at the timing but then had a couple of coffees & some time for reflection. When AP was announced I was a little disappointed but on reflection (again) he had the right sort of credentials to get us out of the lower leagues. Bear in mind we knew little or nothing about our new owners then either. Last season, despite the rumours of discord between him & the chairman we so nearly overturned the points penalty, won the JPT & laid the foundations of a very good L1 leading to Championship team. We also learnt that our new owners had a plan & were in a hurry...it's pointless to speculate on how much ML's health influenced this. This season we have added quality & cover in most positions & got shot of some liabilities - the others we understand are work in progress. We, tragically, lost our owner & benefactor but the plan stayed in place - I believe that NC had probably realised, for whatever reasons, that he could not work to achieve these aims with AP's team so to honour his commitment to the plan has made the change. I am pretty sure given his record on such things that it is not a speculative decision - he knows who they want & I'd be very surprised if the person is not announced in the very near future. I don't believe it will be someone untried or without a pedigree of success - that would not (aside from being able to have maybe a better working relationship) a step forward & this management is ruthlessly all about progress. I'd like to thank AP, WD & SM for giving me one of the most fun seasons in my 50 year supportership & the chance to cry like a kid at Wembley as we came out of a season that might well not have happened - I wish all of them well for the future & think they'll do a great job in the future for someone else. Our future is in the hands of the guy who introduced our saviour as a club...I'm saddened at the steps he felt necessary to take but I'm a a Saints supporter first so he has my trust to go forward with his (and Markus's) plans. Players & managers will come & go...we nearly saw our club go - we need to get behind the team & club & promotion can still be very much on.
  6. I agree with this - AP would only get the opportunity to se where & how he could be fitted in to our team once he had taken a good look at him in both training & match situations. AP decided that his most effective role was as used...not like he'd spent millions on that chance & I believe that Papa was a resounding success - as used...something different & with great pace. A number of his goals came when he had appeared to have lost control of the ball but it still ended up in the net - I would be delighted if he returned but can't help feeling that it would have happened if it was going to. For Guly read as above....no huge risk but possible potential beyond a L1 average standard performer. What's not to like? Talk of personality clashes or differences over policy or player choice is irrelevant if the player can do the job that AP needs.
  7. Star drivel....what he sold for stupid money then included the property assets & a lower level (although on course to follow the Redcrap kill-a-club-a -job finance path) of debt...look what he'd get back now! Serbskate **** he may be but not terminally business-challenged!

    Bizarre

Just a cat, just a joke...nobody died - get over it!
  9. Agree with Scudamore on the refresh but it worked well for me last night. Very grateful as I was on an interminably long conference call so couldn't listen to Saints Player & these updates are far quicker than the text commentary on that. A little fine tuning but gratefully impressed so far
  10. No Guly then - clearance must not have come through.
  11. Too young to remember the Monty Python sketch then? I envy you your youth!
  12. Baj Is this running tonight for the Bolton game? Looks like I'm going to be padlocked in at work!
  13. Wonderful...the trash comic manages to make itself look trashier!
  14. This!
  15. Guly Guly...as in the Bully Bully Wolves chant (or Woolly Bully by Sam the sham)?
  16. Suspect you'll have to interpret the sixth word in your sentence for the benefit of someone who has never experienced it:rolleyes:
  17. I've been abroad on a limited access internet service but would not wish to miss adding to the official tribute thread - For all Saints supporters a saviour, to all he touched a genuine & honest man, a businessman with few equals it seems. I'll be eternally grateful that he had the JPT to understand the joy of the club & the gratitude of the Saints family to share with his own. Thank you Markus - you'll always be a Saint in Southampton & beyond!
  18. Exactly how much money does the S*n contribute to our turnover? And how many Sun readers do we have here (not asking for confessions...I'd be embarrassed too!) My point being if those who do stop buying the comic & put the money in someone else's pocket only one side of the equation loses money...& it ain't us!
  19. Shame Saggy Redcrap didn't have the decency to do the same when he was here - c*nt:x!
  20. I totally agree with this - however I felt a real sense of loss when John Lennon was shot although, of course, I never met him. Markus having saved our club got me in the same way. I think the clubs/FL are right to allow this & am grateful for the gap.
  21. Appropriate - We can now do our first repect paying at St Marys
  22. A lot of fitting ideas - the paramount being the period of reflection My impression was that he was too modest a man to want a statue - certainly I also think he would like the ongoing legacy of a local sports trust. For myself the Itchen Stand & the training ground named after him in perpetuity... It's a lot in the way of tributes but not enough for a man who first saved us & looks like now underwriting our future
  23. Immensely sad news - my thoughts & heartfelt condolences to all his family & friends He was simply our saviour - a genuine Saint to whom we'll always be grateful. More than that he brought a decency & sense of enjoyment to the ownership of our club. I'll never forget his taking pictures of the team with his own camera at the JPT Final & I'll always be grateful that Alan & the team won that for him to give him that moment. Typically he seems to have put plans in place for his ongoing legacy to be carried through his epitaph with Saints. Markus - I've thanked you from the bottom of my heart once before...again - thank you, thank you so very much RIP
