  1. Or you could address the points? Blair was re-elected three times, twice with three figure majorities? I'm not an apologist for Blair or Brown...until you start to draw the comparisons that Dune has done and then they tend to make their own case. I am merely pointing out that the Tories made themselves as unelectable as any party in living memory and it took three full terms of a Labour administration, the last includsing possibly the most unpopular war ever to get themselves even in to a 'hung' position.
  2. 1) Another term for the Labour government was a distinct possibility right up to the hung' situation that we have now - to make that statement shows a reprehensible lack of understanding of the situation. 2) The fact that the current incumbents couldn't muster a majority without the coalition despite Labour's biggest mistake (Iraq) would indicate that the country had little faith in the alternative. It gives me no great pleasure to view that that lack of faith appears not to have been misplaced. 3) If ever you want an example of a party becoming (nearly...note no overall majority) electable again take a look back at the previous Tory administration...granted it took thirteen years to shed the spectre of Thatcher, Hamilton, Major etc but time and the Iraq situation made it possible...would you care to put money on the current incarnation getting a second term? I certainly wouldn't...the power-hungry Libs have blown it for the next century or so and there is not a cat's chance in hell that Cameron & co will get there on their own. History is a powerful pointer...we have to hope that this lot don't syphon too much away from the society we have come to expect from education, health etc. You don't have to look far to see that the income streams from gas, water, telephones, oil etc aren't going towards the public pocket any more. You really need to stop spouting platitudes when you have no real understanding of the issues.
  3. LOL - Apparently troubled by lack of support from above...and burger all from the phew...and then again there may be nothing to walk away from! Bet he feels secure as hell! :-0
  4. Each to his own interpretation but whilst not finding everything he posted funny I find far more wit, humour and originality than in anything ever posted by t'other one.
  5. Difference between the two is Deppo will be welcomed back once his infraction is served out...Dune will never be!
  6. Really - I'm not complaining (far, far from it) but by using the present tense do I notice a hint of positivity that we may go up? Keep taking that pill!!
  7. That really is a ludicrous exaggeration!
  8. His soprano was pretty sh1t too...but I agree with the premise. What is it with Northerners...do they have to pay a penance by returning from Nirvana once they've found it?
  9. Yep...subtly missed out an 'r' (Another pedant;) )
  10. Would you care to put that in to a context that makes sense?
  11. Thank you for doing the homework....I didn't think it was worth forming an opinion until I knew there was something to form it on...and there isn't! Thanks again
  12. I wasn't one (if there were any) who was delighted with a point last night - I saw it as two points dropped in the circumstances. We do, however, have 30 points to play for as against 24 or 27. My point on Hartlepool is that no matter how consistent you have been there are no easy games and teams that have been low in confidence, playing cr*p or whatever are still capable of beating form teams particularly if they are seen as a 'scalp'...we, in the past, have been the ultimate raisers of our game against the 'bigger' clubs so it shouldn't be a surprise when it happens in reverse. It will happen to all those around us in the run in as well. The bottom line is that we are third, have games in hand over our immediate competition for second place and a goal difference that is worth a point over all but the (probably uncatchable) leaders. I've supported Saints for 50 years and know the mantra but the other sets of fans have more to concern them...or as much as we have.
  13. 'not saying that we'll catch them but of all the five below them whose boots would you prefer to be in?'
  14. You bring out the best in me.... Seriously though - I've tried logic and that didn't work, facts don't appear to alter your perspective....mockery is all I can muster
  15. They have also lost at Hartlepool and drew with someone else...not saying that we'll catch them but of all the five below them whose boots would you prefer to be in?

  17. Murphy rings the rape help line.............'I've got the b*tch pinned down-what do I do now?'

  20. I was woken up again last night by the bulimic ***** next door....I banged on the wall and shouted 'For f***s sake keep it down!'
  21. +1...(hand to head thing graphic)
  22. Then don't paint, don't hat, don't sing what you don't want to and don't buy the t-shirt...people will then point at you and say 'Isn't that Miles Davis?'
  23. FFS if people want to sing along with the Cortese song they will...if not they won't. I'd take issue with the fact that not many did yesterday - it's not well known yet (I only remember hearing it at Peterborough)but more joined in all the time as they worked out what was being sung. Some of you need to get over yourselves...it's pro Saints noise at a game...the world isn't going to point at you and say 'Haha he's singing a song that makes him look uncool and not hard' - that's a judgement you make on yourselves!
  24. I went away feeling quite comfortable about the way we won. First half a lot of things 'nearly' came off...little flicks that didn't quite find their target and we were a little cautious in the first quarter. When we are cautious (understandable and probably team orders from Adkins) it seems like we don't get the run of the ball. In the second half I thought we'd got them sussed and started to force things our way...we really did play all the football that was on show. I also think everyone played well...Kelvin didn't put a foot wrong - Radhi was immense, the backs did everything well...Fonte just at his imperious best and even Lallana playing at around 80% is too good for most teams. Hammond has got better and better since returning from injury - it can be more fluent but this was a good performance, a professional performance. Thought Forte added something when he came on and look forward to more and Guly showed the best and worst with the flick that got the player booked as he skinned him and the er ..well - whatever it was! Crowd was superb today...my throat still hurts - to me the only downside was a ref who had a yellow shirt on under his kit but at least he didn't book any Saints player suspect he'll have some explaining to do to his bosses who watched on Sky... Onwards & upwards...we're well placed and playing better than a lot are giving credit for. It's in our own hands now
