Arsenal and Atletico Madrid interested. Really don't think he'd be interested in us..

Been to Anfield twice, and twice the atmosphere was really poor. At times, when we weren't singing, it was eerily quiet, as quiet as a minute silence. To the right of us were just tourists with cameras with no interest in trying to generate an atmosphere. I've seen videos of the Kop in the 1960s for example, and it actually saddens me a bit that it's not like that anymore. I guess that's the modern game for you. Thought second half we played really well but it seemed to take a long time to really get going. It's like their goal was a bit of a wake up call from what I remember. We were definitely unlucky not to come away with at least a draw, and with the chances we created, we could and perhaps should have had all three. I thought Wanyama was superb. Liverpool were nothing special, but the way we played yesterday, I think we'll be alright this season.

I recently read "Parachute Infantry" which was written by a fella named David K Webster. He was portrayed in Band of Brothers and one of the episodes was based on him. The book details his time during the second world war with the 101st airborne from D-Day to Germany. He was a writer before the war so it is very well written, found it to be one of those books that you can't put down. Bloody good read if you're into that sort of thing. I'm now reading the account of a British soldier in WW1. It's called "A Long Way To Tipperary?". Whilst Maurice Graffet Neal doesn't have the same writing skills as David K Webster, his account of WW1 is incredibly 'real'. Enjoying it greatly. He wrote it after the war and his granddaughter (?) decided to publish it. He had to go to Netley military hospital and then after the war lived in Netley and then Hamble until he died, so there's some local relevance too. Both very good and I 100% recommend them both to anyone with an interest in WW1/WW2 history.

As a kid, he probably was my favourite player. When I was about 10, my neighbour in our street in Netley sold him a car and Marian Pahars went round their house for some reason. The neighbours asked if it would be alright if I came round for a bit as well so I could meet him, and he was more than happy. I went round there and very shyly had a chat with him and had a photo and that, he was genuinely a nice chap and it's not hard to see why we Saints fans hold him in such high regard. Good memories.

I don't think you have hijacked this thread, it is not an easy topic to talk about so fair play to you for doing so.

Oh haha I saw £10m and immediately thought of Forster's fee... Being a Saints fan has made me paranoid... -

What does Boruc mean?! -
Too difficult to choose an all time top five, so I'll go literal and go for maybe my five top albums in my collection. I love vinyl, and I guess forking out about £100 for the following records probably means they deserve to be there. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses The Clash - The Clash Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

Not sure - As long as he knows he needs more it's fine by me, I have faith in him.

I think Tadic for Lallana, Pelle for Lambert and Targett for Shaw is absolutely OK at this stage. Yes, we will need more, and I agree people are getting very tetchy regarding this. All I see on here is arguing, and on twitter panicking. Definitely have to be patient to be a Saints fan.

Anything concrete developing or is it all just rumours?

Highly doubt anyone would bother filming a pre-season friendly but any chance there'll be a stream for tonight?

We all know Poch is a ****, yes he did a good job here but the way in which he came in to the club and the way in which he left shows this, and it means I couldn't give a flying **** what he says about us!

Bournemouth fan on twitter utterly perplexed as to why we've sold this out. Something along the lines of "if Southampton don't care about Bournemouth why have they sold out a friendly" type thing. I'm going cos it's a Friday night and it's not far away. Looking forward to it. Bless Bournemouth.

I don't understand the hullabaloo surrounding Odd Miliband holding up the Sun. Yes, the Sun is supposedly offensive to Scousers. Yes, the sun is a rag of sh!te, but Jesus Christ, it's a bloody newspaper. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If it gets put through your letterbox, stick it in the bin (without tweeting 1242 times about how you've put it in the bin).

Take her to the Cathedral Grounds after dark for a nice blend of underage drinkers and alcoholics, or perhaps you could take in the sights on a scenic walk up Winnall Manor Road. Then back in the city you could see a performance from one of the city's many tramps. Enjoy.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-0 West Brom
RedAndWhite91 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Shane Long went over to the WBA fans at the end and gave one his shirt. Some fat West Brom matey started mouthing off to him, pointing the finger at him and all sorts. Another mush came over and pulled fat matey out the way, whilst Shane Long was just stood there, arms out as if to say "what have I done?!" Fat matey then has a run in with someone pushing someone in a wheelchair, before walking up the steps and then turning around and angrily gesturing towards wheelchair man. Feel sorry for whoever is sat next to him on the coach journey home..! -
Drove past this, must have happened not long before. Part of the lorry was wrapped around the side of one of the overheard signs at the central reservation just as the M3 splits towards M27. Lots of people had stopped and got out and were crowding round what I assume was one of the people in the lorry, think a couple of police cars/ambulance were already on scene. Didn't look too good.
