  1. Jerry Lee Lewis married his first cousin once removed who was 13 years old.
  2. It also takes pressure away from the manager if they take responsibility. And yeah, although last night was horrific with Bristol's last minute winner, I hope it hit the players hard and makes them realise that it is their responsibility to win games, to take chances, to defend well etc etc.
  3. I agree with that. My Mum always said "Why are they just blaming the manager, he's not out on the pitch playing the football". I think players hold a lot of responsibility when times are bad for a club. This is generic by the way, I'm not slating our players here.
  4. Rhetorical question.
  5. Our problems lay in the minus 10 awarded to us by the Football League or the FA or whoever it was. That is a major psychological barrier and it has been harder than expected to get rid of the minus points. Whoever said at the start of the season that we would walk this league were seriously deluded, anyone with an ounce of sense would see that this season would be tough. I guarantee if we started on 0, and we now had 9 points from 9 games, people would be saying "Give it time, we'll gain momentum" etc etc, but because we are -1, it seems automatic for people to be calling for the manager's head and slating every Saints player under the sun.
  6. I wonder how many of the people now calling for his head were singing "ALAN PARDEW'S RED AND WHITE ARMY" last night, before turning on him after the game had finished?
  7. He's got pace, and he seems to be able to cross a ball and run towards players to take them on in a positive manner. He still isn't 100% match fit but he is getting there, and when he came off last night I didn't think "Oh, he was God awful". He is something different in this league and teams are going to struggle against him. I bet you don't often get Serie 'A' players on loan to League One clubs. Give him time, that was his first start in this league, a league which is bound to be alien to him.
  8. I talked to some Rovers fans on the train and they said that in Lambert we have a quality player. I said that the thing is, the ball gets lumped up to him and he holds it up or knocks it down but there is no support there to take the ball. They said at Bristol the same thing happened but they had players around him to play off him. They also said for a while after he left they carried on doing it but their new strikers couldn't do what Lambert did.
  9. If we do that we might as well get Lowe back in as Chairman. That's the sort of thing he liked to do, and look where that got us.
  10. Good post =D>
  11. If Pardew was to get sacked, then who would want to come in? Have we not learnt our lesson that getting through 13 managers in 10 years has played a part in why we are where we are? Apologies in advance for trying to stay positive, no doubt this will get ripped apart.
  12. I don't really know what to say. So I will repeat what a Rovers fan said to me on the train. He said that for times in the game they couldn't see Rovers getting past us, we were terrific but we just lacked the finalities. He said our stadium and facilities are magnificent and despite what their fans were saying about us "not being famous anymore", this game was their most anticipated away game of the season, because of our history, our Premiership ground and because we are a good team. He said we will have no trouble in this league once we find our feet and in Lambert we really do have a quality player, he just needs support. I am still gutted about their goal which won it, it's a shame we just can't hold on. When we went 2-1 up I really thought that we could go on to win the game. Everything that I think has been covered already in this thread so I'll leave it there. Roll on Gillingham...
  13. I'm feeling pretty confident, but yeah, reckon it will be a draw.
  14. I think that if James was played right-back for a few games in a row, just right-back, then he would settle and do alright. When you get played in numerous different positions over a short time it is often difficult to get into the mindset of that position. He is a decent player, and he can get up and down the wing. He shouldn't be taking corners but I reckon that if he got a run at right-back he'd do alright. Saying that, I don't know how long Thomas is out for, but I have been impressed with how Thomas has been playing on the right, and would like to see him back there.
  15. Ron was before my time but I still recognise what a legend he is and my thoughts, and all our thoughts, are with him and his wife at this time.
  16. I think you did say that though:
  17. Well it was sung a lot at Charlton, before the game in the pub and during the game. It seems to have gone down well with away game followers, just need to break it into the home games. Me and a few people around me sung it at Yeovil, but it didn't really catch on, so Northam Girls' song sheets are needed!!! Animals go in two by two, hurrah, hurrah... etc...
  18. Would be great to hear it on Tuesday night especially as we are playing his old team!! Here are the words (AGAIN!) He stands just over 6 foot 3, Rickie, Rickie, He’ll take us to the Premier League, Rickie, Rickie, He gets the ball, he takes the p!ss, He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss, Rickie Lambert, Southamptons Goal machine It gets sung at away games and in pubs so why not inside St. Mary's!
  19. No it was this one.
  20. Am I, or am I not, discussing SFC? Maybe my opinions fall into the category of supporting our current manager, what of it? I don't blindly agree with everything Pardew and Cortese do for the record, but part of opinion is debate, and perhaps you could debate what I said instead of telling me what I can or can't discuss.
  21. Trotman. Good player, but needs work on his celebrating! Wondered what he was doing when I saw it happen!! He nearly clattered Morgan, but it's good to see he felt that way about us scoring a goal.
  22. You make it sound like Pardew was last chance saloon, the only one left and our only option. This wasn't the case. Pardew has managed in an FA Cup final. Won promotion twice with two different times. It is not a case of 'we are left with him', more 'we have him'. Cortese decided that Pardew would be the best man for the job out of a shortlist of many. I bet there are many teams in League One who would love to have Pardew as a manager (excluding Charlton).
  23. I still see Kelvin, even has "Kelvin Davis" written on his glove!!
  24. Not enough syllables in the first line Needs to be either "He stands at nearly six foot three", or "He stands just over six foot three"... The latter is already sung, the former would be better. But as long as its sung I don't mind, it's my partial claim to fame that song! But yeah, good point about the accuracy and the singing of 'greatest team the world has ever seen'
  25. On the Barnsley OS: http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1810835,00.html Even though the picture they have up is of Kelvin Davis, not Bialkowski!
