  1. Fair point, still think he plays better down the middle though.
  2. He's definitely not a winger, that's for sure. A class player in my opinion, and from what I've seen he's almost always at his best when played in an attacking central role.
  3. Brilliant. I'm still gutted that Neil blocked me on Twitter because I said Pompey were ****, which, to be fair, is a fact. He replied saying he was blocking me for swearing. What a sap.
  4. Perhaps, like me, he got fed up of paying a fiver just to see threads constantly ruined by the same few people... Anyway, back on topic, this is indeed great news. He's got massive potential, didn't Man City bid £4m for him before he'd even made a first team appearance? He'll play for England one day, it's nice to think that that could happen whilst still at Saints. Excellent.
  5. This is one of the best things I've read on here in a while.
  6. I have. Alpine is annoying.
  7. Perhaps it has something to do with our late owner having a personal wealth of around £3bn? I'm sure some of this would have been left to the club?
  8. Just read on the ever-reliable Wikipedia that when Rafa Benitez signed him in 2010, he said "Coutinho is the future of Inter". Liverpool were interested in him in 2011 apparently. Honestly can't see it happening though, would love to be proved wrong, but not going to get my hopes up!
  9. Currently on 48/92. In case you've not seen it, this is a good website: http://www.footballgroundmap.com/.
  10. I like Mayuka, reckon he's got a bright future ahead of him and is a talent, scored 32 goals in 55 appearances for Young Boys, but I think someone covered it well in the comments section where they said that he's only included because Zambia won the ACN and he was top scorer. As I said, reckon he's a good prospect, but 85th best player in the world...? Maybe not...
  11. A plea from the club was sent to Pompey fans via email from their manager, which started with: "Everyone knows that Pompey fans are the loudest and most loyal fans in the world" I love their delusion, it's hilarious.
  12. I don't think we'll ever find out what happened. Too many conflicting stories. And John Lydon's book is excellent. Insightful first comment from Alpine, well done.
  13. Was there for both of those. Still no idea what that aubergine was all about. And a few other recent ones - 6-0 at Oldham. Schneiderlin's first (and for a while only) goal for the club, and what a hit! JPT, my first trip to the new Wembley. Consecutive promotions. First ever game at SMS and I was in a photo in the Echo the next day. Jaidi's 95th minute equaliser at Carlisle. Brighton away, all their banners (Keeping Up, Adkins diet Egg on face, Pompey 4-1 Scummers etc) and smugness as they were 1-0 up heading into the last few minutes, then two late goals and a 2-1 win, gained numerous cuts as I fell down the steps and ended up on my arse on the running track. Good day. Some great memories from before my time on this thread!
  14. I think I'm light years ahead of Forecast, and I've never even played in goal.
  15. That Neil Allen from Pompey News blocked me on Twitter because I told him "Pompey are ****"... He's probably the worst journalist ever.
  16. Good read, thanks. I grew up in the modern football era of "matchday experiences", SKY, and £3 programmes. Wish I could have experienced football in the 60s/70s, it all seems better, a bit more innocent. Less corrupted by money and greed. That's my take on it anyway, but perhaps I'm just looking at it through the rose tinted glasses of other people's nostalgia...
  17. Anfield, 1964: Anfield, 2012: Silent. We were made to sit down at the front next to the segregation. We had stewards among us enforcing it and threatening us with ejection and that, yet a large part of our support were allowed to stand all game? There was one Liverpool fan who kept shouting "go on Pompey!"... Embarrassing. Anfield is always built up to be this amazing venue, with noisy, passionate fans. Saw none of that yesterday. I was disappointed.
  18. Read this thread, then had a quick look at their forums, quite a lot of Liverpool fans are worried that we'll go there and beat them!
  19. I like it when people argue and someone calls someone else a Nazi, always classic.
  20. It would never have happened if the guy in red hadn't made such a meal of being run in to. He didn't have to go down holding his face... Hardly got touched.
  21. Signed. It's an utter disgrace.
  22. I'm going to state the obvious here, but: Puncheon was class. Cork has been excellent since returning from injury. Shaw is better than Fox. Also thought our support was very good - Seen a few QPR fans praising us on Twitter, one said we were the best away fans he's seen there in a long time, which is nice. All in all, plenty of positives to take from that.
  23. Was lucky enough to see Matt Le Tiss play, but I was really young. Rickie Lambert is the only person on that SaintsWeb banner that I've watched loads, been able to appreciate properly, and seen the majority of his goals. I'd like to think he's one I'll be able to tell my future kids and grandkids about. He's been absolutely pivotal in our rise through the leagues. A Saints legend, in my opinion.
  24. Great post.
