Bringing Redkrapp back to St Mary's would be the most stupid thing Cortese could possibly do! (I doubt he would actually do that in a million years) Unless he replaces Adkins with Pep Guardiola, it would be big mistake and a ridiculous thing to do dismissing Nigel.

Anyone else having problems with the new OS? After a few seconds on the page it goes blank and says its connecting (and remains like that). I am using Mozilla with ad block.

COYR we can beat them!
-
Decent first half, Lallana, Guly, Clyne and Schneiderlin looking good. Defence are standing well and the midfield look strong playing the ball around, link up to the attack needs to improve.

The Buttner deal was all down to Buttner, his dad, agent and Vitesse making a mess of it. In a Dutch football magazine (VI) there is report about the whole saga and who did what. If I have the time I will ask a friend to help me translate it, makes a interesting read.

We were ace! I am so proud of all the players, shame we lost due to little defensive error. But most of all WE ARE BACK!

35 minutes to go and I am a nervous wreck, this game is going to be terrible for my health. COYR, great line up and sad to see Rickie on the bench but he will get his chances this season.
-
Can't wait for tomorrow! Sadly can't watch the game but will be checking my phone every few seconds. Don't expect us to get anything out of this game but as long as we go down fighting and show some nice passing I will be happy. Can't imagine how the players and Adkins must be feeling right now.

Just when you thought the deal was dead, Dutch media are reporting that we have contacted Vitesse again and have renewed are interest in signing Buttner. http://www.vi.nl/nieuws/225921/Nieuw-bod-Southampton-op-verbannen-back-Buttner.htm (VI are usually a well informed source)

Not linked but left back Simon Poulsen CDAJFU. Played 4,5 years for AZ Alkmaar and left at the end of last season, was linked to Valencia, AC Milan and Ajax. Apparently turned Ajax down as he is looking for a club in Spain, Italy or here. (don't look him up on Youtube, they don't have his best moments) -
After the Ajax game I was optimistic for the coming season, after this result I am a little worried for City game. Against Ajax the link between defence and midfield was good but we were poor in the final third, from what I have read it seems like we had the same problem today. City will be very tough but since Adkins has been here he always has had us well prepared so I am confident we will have a decent start.

No Hammond, De Ridder, Stephens, Seaborne and Do Prado? Could this be the team we are playing against City next week? If so well done to James Ward-Prowse for stepping up and being in contention for a start against them.

Has Royston Drenthe been mentioned? Can play LB and LM, available on a free transfer and has played in the PL. Only problem is his attitude and he is likely to want high wages. -
Darren Kenton! Played a blinder once against Chelsea.
-
Rickie looked out of form in the match against Ajax, hope he picks up his form soon, I have a bet on Lambert being top scorer of the English players this season.

1-0 Bristol City (Stead)

Another short Buttner update. Buttner,s agent Aleksander Bursac has said in a interview with local paper De Gelderlander that they are trying to have Buttner,s contract with Vitesse terminated. Rumours are that the third party is Buttner,s dad who wants a percentage of the transfer fee for guiding him in times (this was not in Buttner,s contract). I think even if he does get his contract terminated (highly unlikely) we wont sign him. The damage has been done and I cannot imagine the club wanting to deal with someone who is causing such a scene at his current club.

Great effort by the girls, the noise from the crowd gave me goosebumps. Looking forward to the time trails later this afternoon and the swimming this evening, Come on GB.

Who ever decided we should have these warehouses here should be banned from the city. I reckon if you offer those warehouses a place outside the city where they are easy accessible from the motorway they would take it. Then redevelop the plot by building town houses like on Carlton Crescent, some as houses, some as apartments. Living close to the city centre and the water will appeal to many.

This. Why do the council have plans drawn up for the city if they cant afford it? I have seen two complete different plans drawn for Mayflower park over the last years, it must cost them a fortune to have the plans drawn. Most recent design, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-12575595 Posted in 2008, I like this one, http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=703670

Likes: The Common, the parks in and around the centre (except Mayflower), Below Bar, New Forrest, the area around King Edward school, the old city walls. Dislikes: Central Station and the buildings around it (Norwich house?), Millbrook, The out of town shopping centre in the centre, West Quay (good shopping, horrific building), THE CITY PLANNERS, most roads, the pier, the waterside (ffs it has so much potential, why don't the planner notice that?) the new modern design buildings, stick to Victorian!, the Itchen bridge (its so ugly).

A mate of mine knows a few players from Vitesse and NEC Nijmegen, he also knows Buttners brother. And Badger, if you want some good CB in the Eredivisie look no further than Niklas Moisander and Nick Viergever from AZ Alkmaar. Vlaar is a good CB but slow and has had 2 serious knee injuries, Gouweleeuw is young and talented but has little experience.
