This topic is giving me false hope and making me spend to much time on here instead of getting any work done. Every time the phone ‘pings’ I look and hope it’s an update from LiveScore telling me he’s been sacked.
-
Exactly, Jones’s sacking was made public on Sunday.
-
Rohl’s doing a good job at Wednesday and would be a good replacement for Martin. Problem is he has never failed at a club so Wankerson wouldn’t be interested.
-
We could start a crowdfunding to help the club. As long as Rasmus doesn’t get to pick the next manager.
-
Martin IMHO gets an easy ride from the press. They should be asking him more direct questions about his formation and why he continues whilst it obviously isn’t working etc.
-
Or been Christmas shopping in Gunwarf..
-
Really? Last I heard he would be back in 2 weeks..

I cannot decide if Martin is doing a good job for Sports Republic or they don’t have the funds to remove him. In a good job I mean that Sport Republic want to make money and care less about our club. So far they are on course to make huge profits on Dibling, Harwood-Bellis and Fernandes, and that’s their main goal. So, in their perspective, who cares about the league table and let’s make money. Then at the end of the season drop down a league and buy or intro new talent. Being in the Championship means players are cheaper and all they have to do is get promoted within 2 seasons. All Martin has to do is play City football and shop potential buyers that our players can play their brand of football. Just buy/retain a group of players who are top Championship players like Fraser, Armstrong, Stephens etc and have young talent making up the numbers and hope they are good enough to make a healthy profit on. The good championship players will make sure you end up near the top of that league and then it’s simply one, maybe more if we are lucky, seasons in the Premier League shop window for the talented young players to show their talent and be sold. Apologies this must sound far fetched but I just don’t have a clue what Sport Republic want and their main goal is (except making money).

Should Dragan Šolak remove Rasmus Ankersen from the SFC board?
Dr. Kucho replied to Dark Munster's topic in The Saints
That’s been said many times that Giles started Brentfords rise, but what did Ankersen do there and where can he be credited for? It’s good the fans are questioning Ankersen’s work at the club, but did anyone really expect an honest answer from Blackmore? His answers will always be PR talk, like all these Q&As. Lineker tends to say what he thinks on his Podcast, but most journalists don’t want to upset the club and risk losing their sources. -
What’s the Saints XI team vs the worst XI, made of players who have played for us in the time you’ve supported our beloved club? I started watching Saints in 2003 (so sadly didn’t see Le Tiss etc) and the best vs worst I could come up with are, Best team, Niemi, Clyne, Van Dijk, Fonte, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Tadic, Lallana, Mane, Pelle Manager: Koeman Worst team Forecast Wright, Davenport, Bennett,Bernard, Smith, Pulis, Euell, Mccan, Carrillo, Patterson Manager: Wigley

Let’s be honest, we can discuss the rest of the season who should be our new manager, but Martin isn’t going to be sacked and he knows that too. Sacking Martin would but Ankersen and Kraft, mainly Ankersen, in a very difficult position and could end their multiclub dream. Just imagine Rasmus calling Dragan, RA: hi Dragan it’s Ras. DS: Hi. RA: Dragan you remember we sacked Hasenhuttl and we had to pay him millions? DS: Yes. RA: Then we paid Luton millions to have Jones released from his contract, paid millions for the players he wanted and a month later sacked him. And had to pay him millions. DS: Yes. RA: Then we paid Swansea to have Martin released from his contract and invested millions in to the players he wanted? DS: Yes. RA: Well we are bottom of the league and I know we just gave him a new contract, and it will cost us millions, but I think it’s best we sack Martin and hire a new coach. What do you think of that? DS: Mnnnn, so when do I start seeing a return on my investment? RA: 10 years maybe?
-
I find it hard to believe that Dragan, the billionaire who funds this project, can’t get rid of Ankersen and Kraft. He must be a complete idiot if he hasn’t had the contract written in a way that he can get rid of the others if they make a mess of his investment. Though the way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the case.

Hold on Trousers, I think you might have uncovered the reason we refuse to score goals. Scoring means the opposition gets the ball for the kick off.
-
Fuck the score, it’s all about possession and being brave! Please pay attention..

Players who we didn’t get the best out of
Dr. Kucho replied to Midfield_General's topic in The Saints
Tall Paul could be on this list, scores everywhere except here. Let’s hope it works out soon. Jordy Clasie did well at Feyenoord and is captaining AZ Alkmaar now. Here he was rubbish, though think his private life played part in that too. -
I can see SR going for Mitchell van der Gaag. Former assistant to Erik Ten Hag at MU, has coached at Ajax (youth) and has done a good job in the Netherlands at other clubs. Currently a free agent after leaving MU and wants to get back in to managing. And last but not least, he’s bald with a beard, so a resemblance to Pep.
-
I agree that we signed quantity over quality, but I think a decent manager could have bagged more points than Russell has this season. Imo this is a decent PL squad, not great and certainly no world beaters, but with the correct tactics and manager I am sure we would have at least 2 wins and a few draws by now. Ramsdale KWP - THB - Bednarek - Taylor Downes - Aribo Dibling - Lallana - Fernandes Archer
-
First I have zero knowledge of big billionaire business etc, but what plan could he possibly have? He’s letting Rasmus and his crew squander millions and make stupid decisions. If they want to make money, why would they buy players like BBD, Fraser, Taylor etc? Why not only buy cheap young players and hope one turns out amazing? Then if it’s some kind of tax dodging scheme, why not just spend a couple of million on an apartment in Monaco and pay zero income tax? Invest your money in property, big businesses like Amazon, Meta, renewable energy etc? Why spend loads on a football club and make it worse than it was before? This all doesn’t make sense to me, maybe someone with knowledge of these schemes could share their ideas?
-
SR problem is that they want to copy the City Group but with a fraction of the budget. When was City taken over and how long did it take them to build their multi club business? If I remember rightly they first focused on City before expanding. Something SR should have done to. I am getting serious doubts about Dragan’s entrepreneurial skills. How can someone just sit and watch their hard earned money being squandered by a couple of cowboys?

Good and clear explanation of Englands tactics and what Martin tried us to do at Bournemouth.

Thats partly true, it’s the manager who decides the tactics and he wants the players to kick it round endlessly between the defenders. How many goals have we conceded this season because the defenders eventually make a misplaced pass and the opposition counters on that?
-
Makes sense that the 15m is for both managers. But let’s say the club decides to remove Martin, the costs could be another 7m. That would make it over 20m just on removing managers and then we still have to hire a new one, and his staff. The likes of Moyes and Potter don’t come cheap. Don’t think Dragan would like that and that makes me think we will stick with Martin.
