  1. The usual conclusion i end up drawing, bring it on!
  2. Tickets for ipswich are madness,31 quid is a lot imo. Does anyone know what qualifies as young adult for the game?
  3. Steve DeRidders on the pitch, EE-I-EE-I-O With a right foot here, a left foot there, Here a goal, there a goal, Everywhere a goal goal, Steve De Ridders on the pitch, EE-I-EE-I-O
  4. De Ridder ooowww, De Ridder ooowww, He came from De Graafschap, He'll make you all look c**P, De Ridder ooowww...
  5. Crystal palace at home first game of the season a few years back IIRC. Bart will look great in friendlies then put in horror shows like that one when he needs to shine. Kelvin is no genius but is easily a better keeper ATM. As mentioned earlier cant believe this topic isn't pretty much unanimous in favour of sticking with Davis. Has been a super consistent performer since signing for the club.
  6. worth every penny of my £50 and everyone elses donations, superb effort
  7. Here's to Cortese. If this story is true good on him. Bale and Walcott made an impact in the 2nd tier, not the 3rd. Get 10mill and tell him to do one. Thats if the stories are to be believed of course
  8. Agreed, I think there's much more chance of them finishing outside the top 4 than winning the league. I cant believe he has played enough good football to warrant anyone spending big on him, especially if we are (rightly) holding out for a lot of cash upfront anyway tbh. If he does end up staying he'd better not flop for us after a summer of speculation. Cant see that happening but would be sad if it did.
  9. Exactly this. Every other player at sfc knows they want to commit to the cause so make a decision via a press conference to explain you want to be part of the plans at sms. If not make the club 10m(a mental amount considering a season in 3rd tier)and bugger off. If this was to happen it would have been nice to have had it done and some cash invested before the players travelled for pre season.
  10. Probably pulis until he left. Now we have no heroes. On a serious note it has to be lallana I'd imagine.
  11. Superb signing, exactly what we need, turned into a super player since leaving us. Welcome back!
  12. This.. People often talk of Morgans technical ability but fail to highlight the number of times he goes missing leaving Hammond with a monster task on his hands. Both, however, make Richard Chaplow look like a school boy, albeit a bald one. He has lost his way in professional football and doesn't even merit a squad position at sfc imho.
  13. Had a strange one myself, just been down too. Definitely there longer than 15.. Big queue.. Came to pay and just spat my ticket back out without asking for cash. 465 quid was enough to part with in a day!
  14. Agree. Wouldn't read too much into an article published for use by such charmers as c***ville at the bottom of the page
  15. I was under the impression a season ticket last season allowed quite a decent discount compared to paying individually every game,i worked it out start of season and was around £15 a game for an adult to watch at one of the best stadiums around. To suggest, therefore, that cortese doesnt want st holders is mad. If this was the case they would work out at no discount to encourage ppl not to buy them at all surely? Or am i just being stupidly logical?
  16. Presume this is tongue in cheek.... If so rather amusing
  17. The fact is that today being one of chaps better games is exactly the problem. When deano is off just a little bit we need someone who is simply better than chaplow at controlling things and taking responsibility for midfield control. Forte will get the headlines but we were so much better in the middle without chaplow on the pitch failing to really have any impact AGAIN. New guy looked good to me. He looks more likely to help out when hammond doesnt quite hit his usually very high standards. Chaplow is good when the team is good. Centre mids cant afford to have too much of this in their game.
  18. Dont really buy the burley bashing as much as some, the guy was a few penno's and a final from guiding us back. And managed a team that supplied me with one of my fondest ever memories when ras scored at our end. Celebrated so much it made me light headed and ended up about 5 rows down hugging randoms. The outcome of the season matters not. The memories count for everything. Because that's what it's all about really.
  19. Hammond, fonte and lallana are absolutely integral. As is KD. Hammond for me this season. Much underappreciated on this forum. He can do everything and more and has had more superb performances this season than any other player imo.

    Chaplow

Most of these posts echo what my mates and i were saying at the game yesterday, he needs to pull his finger out. Clearly a decent enough player but hammond has to do too much of chaplows work imo. Can see how he was failing to get into prestons team. Probably as much to do with his play as with the bust up with management. Just on this topic how much of a consistently superb performer is dean hammond?! His workrate is 2nd to none of pretty much any player you'll ever see and his general decision making is fantastic.
  21. Absolutely, last night wasn't hoof ball at all. It was direct pressure for the large majority of the 2nd half creating super chances that on another night would have seen us run out comfortable winners. Wasn't to be. Playing like that against walsall 10 times would probably yield 8 wins, last night was the 20%.. does make the next 4 games or so very very important to keep in the hunt for auto. And the game at dean court could even prove decisive come the end of the campaign.
  22. In my lifetime a saints centre half has never made me feel so confident of controlling good good players. A super player and a great professional, never forgotten Deano.
  23. Everyone considers this such a biting issue that noone replied for 20 minutes, come on people get your teeth into this thread will you...
  24. "Someone'll do a caption competition about this one day...."
  25. My mate and I were recently discussing whether the forum had taken a massive nose dive the past few months and become a home for just the most whingey extreme fans who'd rather talk about who managers sleep with, what beer players like etc rather than actual football. This thread is why I use the forum, what a brilliant OP! Pretty much sure it sums up what I have been weighing up in my mind for many years now, whether I wanted football to be where it was at when I went to my first ever game, or whether I like the whole industry shifting in the manner it has over the past 15 years. The part about being left behind as a fan base because of 27 years of success based on skill is particularly interesting, I'm just interested in each and every post on this thread! FWIW I hugely miss playing the so called big boys. This is not due to any sort of glory hunting (I do support saints afterall!) but just seeing the Dell or SMS full, intimidating Man Utd, Spuds etc etc is an unbeatable feeling for me as a fan. That said I will always pay whatever it takes to watch saints whether playing top teams or Eastleigh, football has got me, as it has many on here.
