Reading are better equipped for the Premier League than Southampton

With all due respect, thinking about expanding stadium/financial backing/sizable signing/winning mentality could read as a list for SFC or Reading surely? -

Norwich and Wigan to really struggle. Wolves were weak last season, not sure anyone will bail out so early in the back end of the season this time around. -
So, on reflection, now we've all had a chance to think about it, is the kit A) Gash Bags B) Better than gash bags but still woeful C) Very much managable and really ok D) Surprisingly nice E) Jizztastic, a Monday morning must have..

Any wage structure that existed up to now is going to have to be broken in the prem isn't it? Look what rigidity in this respect did for us last time, granted coupled with poor management at 2 levels within the club. Spurs spent 7m on a young football league star, Bale a few years back and could probably flog him for about 30 million now. Sometimes a gamble will pay off. I'd rather see us have a go with young hungry English players even if it costs some cash. Who knows, even after just a season of top flight football someone like Butland might be worth 12 million. Things have changed in the last 7 years, I think we should get used to the increased prices expected for players.

What a complete shambles our ticket office is!!

I knew that was wrong.. It just looked wrong. Embarrassing. -
I like Lallana a lot and he's been great for us but he'll never play for England. Might squeeze into a squad, maybe a friendly 5 minute cameo but he's not good enough to play for England. Look at the likes of AOC, Wilshire, Adam Johnson. He's not as good as these players. He's comfortable on the ball yes, but why hasn't a Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal not taken a punt on him? Lets face it, when we were skint someone could have had Lallana for pittance but noone but Fulham were really rumoured seriously. I'd love to be proved wrong but the market rarely lies in football.

Exactly. Making customers jump through hoops to proove their concession status is a by product of people cheating the system which tragic cases will always try. The main point, though, is that as usual noone at the place is reading off the same page. The happy clappers can moan at the OP all they want but offering up money on a plate as an honest student only to be messed around is s**te service. I have personally never had anything but shambolic service from the club, right down to their inability to fix my simple date of berth login for this coming season meaning I paid £2.50 too much for my ST by only allowing me to pay over the phone. Not one apology. Not one offer to waive the extra charge. Cheers. I love the football club dearly but they've always been archaic in their administration. -
You've got to wonder if they do. In the age of instantaneous 24/7 news including social media, journalists have a hell of a job on to grab a story noone has previously tweeted/posted/facebooked about already meaning they are often rehashing old news.

We'll sign Butland now won't we. Wait until the Euro's are over, lets face it, that'll probably be Sunday night. He's clearly not being bothered with such things whilst in the England squad.

Holden would be a hell of a signing, got real potential to nail down a place somewhere in the prem for a long period of time, like Dempsey at Fulham has. Just the sort of player I'd want us looking at. -
Our Future? Stadium Expansion Proposal on Season Ticket DVD

Thoroughly agree mate. My post sounded like I was taking the Michael I realised. Noone will cross borders and sail seas just to look at buildings like this. My idea when moving to SMS was to be the first club in the country to attempt to maintain some class by scaling up the Dell 2 times bigger, triangle stand and all (without pillars in the way of seats of course). I was genuinely sad we didn't build 4 stands and went for a bowl. I fear people on here will think I'm mad for saying this. Never mind. -

And did those feet in ancient time.. -
My thoughts exactly. I think it's a bit tough on him to jump to conclusions like some seem to. Not financially but professionally he's been a victim of his team mates success and appears to be implying he'd rather accept a lower wage at a lower level (which, lets face it is where he's at). Who would ever take a potential pay rise clause out of their contract to guard against this situation?!
-
4 points from 4 would be a fine start. Welcome back with that start! Not the worst thing to get 3 of those huge fixtures done in the first few weeks though IMO.
-
F**king legend. I'm a few beers and a few gins down but I'd just like to publicly state my admiration for Nigel Adkins.
-
Saints fans in arrogant we deserve the best players in the world shocker. Is anyone able to come up with a better keeper than Green who would move to SFC? I personally think we've done pretty well to be linked with Englands no 2 keeper. Would be a superb transfer to pull off if this is a genuine possibility. Kelvin as backup in the prem would be very tidy too.
-
Rudi...
-
Exactly. That's all it'll come down to. If prem clubs who've enjoyed the past god knows how many years in the prem with bigger grounds/more high profile players already etc like, say Villa or Everton come in he'll more than likely go to them. There seems a lot of interest, I'd be surprised if we are the only club who get to the point of talking with the player.

The nail just took a damn good whack on the head, my sentiments exactly!

If we hadn't gone up he'd be gone by now. The mad world of football management.

Funny. Just funny. Kalou just played in the Champions League final. -
Breakfast with beer, nice touch ?

No, I'm not interested in anyones source but it's a long time since someone the bookies rate at 80/1 got a big time job. They might not always be right but they have more collective insight than one guy on SWF. Put it this way, if he is Appointed Pool manager i'll eat a few mouthfulls of my Saints hat. It's the least I could do if I was wrong after calling your thread ridiculous!!
-
Just to confirm the ridiculousness of this thread, paddy power have Adkins at 80/1, on a par with Owen Coyle. His odds are even longer than Steven Gerrard at 66/1. Wind up thread should be closed really.
