Well as you say, there have been so many signings in "our history" that I am still dubious he would be even in the top 5. If we are talking very recent history then sure. It would be interesting to see who would come above Lambert since, let's say, 1976 (can't imagine why I chose that date). Some names off the top of my head that could possibly be argued as better signings for various reasons: Keegan Shilton Pahars Case McDougall Boyer Any others?

It was a great signing - not sure it was one of the greatest in our history though. Maybe top 5 - does that count as "one of" ?

Sorry - just pure coincidence that I picked on your post. I see that word used all over the place on here and I am one of those people that find it offensive. Most of the time I just let it pass..... The only things that I can't let pass are Americanisms like "my bad" and people spelling "lose" as "loose" BTW I am more keen on Gardos than I am on Rojo

However you dress it up, MP was rarely referred to as "The Argie" last season. Now he has left (in a way that has irked many Saints fans) he is often being referred to as "The Argie". It is not exactly being used as a term of endearment - it is being used as a way to express one's dislike for the bloke. Therefore "derogatory" is perhaps an apt way of putting it, even if "racist" might be OTT.

I am perfectly happy with my original post and the casual observation I was trying to making thanks. If you would like to waste another of your posts in a futile (and probably long-winded) attempt to convince me otherwise then feel free. I can't promise I will read it right to the end though.
