I'd have preferred an exciting new start after we had 40 points on the board. I quite like the sound of the guy and his reputation, but the timing is bloody awful (putting aside the shabby treatment of Adkins for a moment).
He has explained already in the OS statement. Do you really think he would have said anything else? What would you have liked him to say that would have satisfied you?
If you think about it, his start to the season with Espanyol was very similar to our start under Adkins. The difference is that MP got sacked (or left by mutual consent) and Adkins didn't. They picked up, just the same as we have.
Ahh, who has been listening to the Radio Solent phone-in then? I almost did the same thing, but decided it was too transparent and settled for a little post on another thread instead
Do you really think it would have been a good idea to turn up to the press conference and upstage the new guy? What would be the point in that? It would have turned into a jizzfest about Adkins. MP would not have needed his interpreter because he'd have had no questions to answer.
It is "Di Matteo" not "De Matteo"! But you cannot be serious about him arriving at the end of the season? That would mean only one thing - that MP has been a disaster and we are back in the Championship.
We need a result from this game. ANYTHING that jeopardises that must be avoided at all costs. Protests can be done before and/or afterwards - not during the game. We don't want a "Stamford Bridge"-like atmosphere.
