  1. The mouse behaves differently depending on which option you wave it over. "HOME" is a link, which his why it changes to a pointing hand. "MATCH TICKETS" is a menu header, so it doesn't change to a pointing hand. Instead, a sub-menu (should) appear below it with two options - "BUY NOW" and "TERMS AND CONDITIONS". If those appear, carefully move your mouse down to "BUY NOW" and click. If you inadvertently move your mouse to the wrong place the sub-menu will disappear. It is not very user friendly really, but as long as your browser supports JavaScript (all the major ones do) then the above should work.
  2. Despite all that, player ownership is still preferable to borrowing a player from another club on a temporary basis. Obviously you can cherry pick examples where this is not the case, but they would be in the minority. If this were not the case, then nobody would own any player - and then there would be nobody to take loans from! A football club that wants to build a team ethos in the long term would not do so with loan players would they? Having your team ripped apart at the end of each season? No thanks. Let me cherry pick for a moment: Would Spurs have been better off taking Bale on loan from Southampton, or by selling him after 6 years for EUR100m?
  3. Well that is all very interesting, and yes, loans make a lot sense in some circumstance - but you are totally missing the point. Never mind.
  4. It is not a case of "loan player" or "no player". It's a case of "loan player" or "permanent signing". If a club desperately needs a striker, then surely it is better to buy than borrow (assuming they have the money). Have another look at the post I responded to. Re West Brom, they now have to replace 17 goals. Not easy.
  5. Who said anything about giving less for the cause? I am purely alluding to the fact that you can become reliant on players that can disappear back to their parent club at the end of the season. Ask West Brom fans. Permanent signings are a better long term option if you can afford it.
  6. He will be overjoyed at being grilled while trying to play golf. I presume you are not expecting any more games with him
  7. So your preference is a terrible start that cost £0m perhaps?
  8. So you would rather have a team of somebody else's players rather than a team of our own players?
  9. A few too many Sherberts Baz?? Great thread - even by your standards.
  10. No it is not, and there is no evidence to suggest that Wanyama suffers from this affliction either. It is just that our tactics are defined by the opposition. Wait and see if we press high against Liverpool....
  11. Errmmmm

    Signings

  13. I am not sure why we have this thread. We won't be making any deadline day signings will we? I mean, seriously??
  14. Played over 90 minutes for us and not a single goal! How can he get called up for Italy with form like that ffs!
  15. You like your devices Mr Git
  16. Should that be one word or two?
  17. Did you watch the game then Rog? Managed to get the stream working?
  18. Please stop mincing your words and beating around the bush. Say what you really think - ha ha
  19. Not picking on this post particularly as there are plenty of others saying similar things, but what is the point in including last season's games when analysing our form? It is completely pointless, since the players, position in the league and therefore tactics may be completely different at the end of a long season compared to the start of a new one. We need to look at this season with this set of players to assess form - and on the whole (albeit only over 3/4 games) it has been pretty good.

  21. Read the first part of your post again. What are you suggesting then?
  22. Words fail me
  23. Threads like this just reiterate what a small-minded (or small-club minded) group if fans we have - at least on TSW. Spend what is (for the EPL) a normal sum for a top young player and we expect him to be footballing perfection for 95 minutes of every game. Sport doesn't work like that.
  24. Seems like one of those games that could have easily been 0-0 or even 1-0 to us, and our performance would not have generated anywhere near the levels of derision it is now receiving on here. Let's see how it looks after 10 games.
