  1. Why is now surely the time? Is it because you are just needing some reassurance to make you feel more secure? Even if all three things happened (unlikely) there will just be something else to fret about.
  2. Last season we flew up and flew back the next morning. We don't even have that option this time. We'd have to fly up on Friday and back on Sunday which is not a viable option. Basically I'm screwed because I cannot face getting up early enough to drive
  3. Ha ha - Yes, maybe I won't raise the subject. I would be interested to know its origins, but that would truly derail this thread in a way that Glasgow and Barrie Sanchez would be proud of.
  4. Now that did make me laugh - and now I've been caught on the ipad when I should be watching a film with the missus
  5. I don't need to look it up - I know exactly what it means. And as you have obviously just looked it up to justify your picky little pointless post, you know what it means too. If you don't mind, I will get back to the subject of the thread, while you fret about the words people should or should not use.
  6. Shawcross yes, but Crouch was hopeless in the second half when they needed him to hold the ball up....not that I am complaining of course.
  7. Perhaps you'd like to list the perfectly normal words from the English language that you deem ridiculous and we can attempt to avoid them. Are there any phrases that you don't like also? How about "narrow-minded t w a t"? Equally ridiculous methinks.
  8. What's wrong with "methinks"....or are you illiterate?

    Boruc

The Arsenal cock-up is the only one that fits this description. Cannot think of any others tbh, not even Stoke away. I do, however, have vivid memories of the save last week against Fulham that kept it at 0-0, the save from Long against WBA that secured 3 points, the save against Liverpool, the save from Fletcher at Sunderland etc etc
  10. He has never been anywhere near the RN
  11. I thought my dad was the only person on the planet who referred to a bed as a "scratcher" How long have you been on-line Dad?
  12. This "plan B" cliche is so overused and is frankly meaningless - usually raised as a throwaway reason for not winning (or losing) a game by somebody who has no idea what a plan B would look like if it walked up and slapped them in the face (not saying you are one of those btw). What subs would you have made to change the course of the (one-way traffic) second half - out of interest?
  13. Haven't read the whole thread, so sorry to pick on yours being that last one on show at the time - but there was nothing wrong with Stoke and the way they played.....unless you are attempting to be ironic. Getting frustrated at the fact that we didn't win and then blaming it on the away team's tactics is completely daft IMHO. They did a great job at getting what they needed from the game, and who can blame them for that? They were not very adventurous in the second half, but that was because we penned them back. Nevertheless, they still managed to defend really well and restrict our chances. Tough luck.
  14. Don't disagree with regard to the importance of the match - but by our own standards in the PL, finishing 9th or 8th is hardly "ordinary", despite being easily forgotten in years to come.
  15. Just a slight exaggeration methinks - although he is a niggly player no doubt.
  16. "Adams" ffs! Embarrassing not to be able to even get his name right.

    Boruc

A description that could be levelled at any goalkeeper really. All players make mistakes, but when you are a goalkeeper they tend to be significant. If you weigh up the good and the bad, then Boruc is still one of the best there is.
  18. Pretty sure it was 1-0 (MLT) so it wasn't just after Ballie took over after all. 1996-97 looking back at it.
  19. I had to call club-call from a call box in Miami once just to find out that we had beaten Newcastle 1-0 at St James' Park (just after Bally took over). Cost me a bloody fortune!
  20. It's "lose" not "loose"!!!! Carry on......
  21. I used to listen to commentary on our very own Sky channel.....
  22. - yes not the best wording to have used.
  23. Big clue here in the Facebook post: "On 19.5.13 Southampton v Stoke at St Marys......"
  24. I fail to see how being knocked over, injuring you head badly, then suffering for over two months before dying is a "good way to go"
  25. Eh??
