  1. Not anywhere near "a disgrace" IMHO. Why should they be any different to any other employee of a company in financial difficulty? It is not as if they are all mega rich superstars. Some may be better placed to give up some money than others, but what would you do faced with the prospect of no contract and no wages at all in a few weeks time? I expect you would try to accumulate as much as possible before that happens, not give it up. To them its a job, to us it is something that invokes irrational thoughts and emotions (bit like a girlfriend :-) ).
  2. Maybe not - but what about the source?
  3. :smt098
  4. It isn't true!!! If everyone connected with football who bought petrol in the Hampshire/Wiltshire area was going to become the next Saints manager then there wouldn't be any room for players in f'ing dressing room. I've got to log off this thing before my brain shrinks to the size of a pea :smt009
  5. Did I miss something? When was it announced that the bidders don't have "a lot of money" and even they don't (whatever "a lot" amounts to) why would that mean that Fry is not as great as first thought?
  6. Getting ******ed after a match (or not doing so) isn't really much of an indication of whether you care or not - its just an indication of what you like to do with your spare time after all is done and dusted. I used to get hammered (win, lose or draw) after a match because that was what the weekend was for. Now I have to put the kids to bed and watch Britains Got Talent with a bottle of wine and the missus.
  7. Ditto - there should be some sort of electric shock through your mouse to remind you that are indeed about to embark on a trail of amoeba level drivel.
  8. You've just wasted a lot of money on Guinness, and got your network hacked to boot
  9. I think you'll find that is just what this thread is.....get a job! One like mine where you can spend all day reading endless threads of made up gossip :smt075
  10. Are you saying that every single thread in the forum is annoying?
  11. Is there a way to filter out annoying threads full of crap on this forum? Doing a running commentary on whats on Sky Sports and what your current bodily function requirements are has got to be one of the saddest things I have read in a long time. I can't believe I have even taken the time to comment on it - I am even sadder :smt009
  12. What language is this??? Sounds like badly spelt ******** to me.
  13. I think most people agree that in the spirit of the FL rules we should be deducted 10 points. However, the rules present a loophole which SFC attempted to exploit, and the FL have now stretched the remit of the rule to cover the circumstances. Loopholes need to be closed, but you can't close them and then retrospectively impose them on the people who benefitted from them, any more than the Inland Revenue can close tax avoidence loopholes and retrospectively demand money from those who took advantage. IMHO the FL have dropped a clanger....but I doubt they care what I think
  14. I think anything worse than -17 quite likely = foobar. But it is still a moot point because there is no option for starting in a lower league. Look on the bright side - we are going to start with a new owner, new board and new sense of togetherness to ****em all and overcome the points deficit and reach the play-offs (where we will lose in a semi-final penalty shoot out).
  15. What - mine you mean?
  16. Yes - it was the Trust. On Radio Hampshire Nick Illingsworth spent a while talking about having made the approach should the worst happen, and the highest league that could accomodate a reformed version of SFC was the Wessex. To think it would be better, given the choice, to start in a lower league on zero points makes the very large assumption that we would get promoted straight away rather than spend a season fighting relegation. However, we should already know that it is easier to stay up than it is to get promoted (points deduction or not), and that if we started in Div 2 we cannot expect to have the same quality of player in our squad as we could if we were in Div 1 or the CCC (of course I use the word "quality" with tongue firmly in cheek).
  17. ....but the difference is that the team being "punished" did not have the choice. If there was a choice then it would already be well known to all and sundry.
  18. No, you cannot "choose" to start in a lower league than the one you are in just to avoid starting is minus whatever. What would the FL then do with the current set of teams in that league? Promote the fourth placed team to Div 1 or stop the Conference winners being promoted? Even if it was possible, why on earth would you want to do it? Surely it is better to fight it out in as high a league as you can. Anyway, I cannot see any reason for further points deductions since I cannot see us exiting admin without a CVA.
  19. Not the club - the enquiry was by (I believe) Nick Islingsworth and the Trust to find out the highest league an alternative to SFC (like AFC Southampton ala AFC Wimbledon) could start in if SFC disappeared from the planet - which is the scenario if the money dries up before there is a buyer.
  20. You missed the irony - look at the article again: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11728
  21. I think it would give Mr Luker a cardiac trying to administer that, and even more so giving away all that cup revenue (probably just one match in our case :-( ) I am not sure why having a ST since the ground opened is relevant and introducing something retrospectively to those people is going to ****** off anyone who couldn't afford one when the ground opened (like they hadn't started work yet or summat). However, I would like to suggest free season tickets to anyone born on the exact same date as me and who has my name too :smt041
  22. It takes long enough to get a beer already without delaying matters having to check season tickets, and what if you have a season ticket and your mate doesn't - can you buy him a beer or does he have to queue up elsewhere?
  23. I remember Smith coming on for his debut as a sub and within 5 minutes he had misplaced about 6 passes and had an air kick trying to trap the ball (which went for a throw). I remember saying to OoohTerryHurlock that it was one of the worst debuts I had seen since Ali Dia (who actually looked quite good in comparison). Clearly very nervous, because he settled down a bit afterwards, but reminded me of Nathan Dyer - fast and tricky but you always knew that the end result would be very disappointing. His run and shot against Man U summed him up - went for a throw in!
  24. I read the article and took most of it with a pinch of salt. These players that are saying they are committed to getting us back up are not daft - they would have to say whatever is in their best interests. Saying it and doing it are two different things, and saying it means they come across to the fans as jolly good chaps. They will still go if the offer is right for them. I think most of them are reserving judgement until they see what plans a new buyer has for the club. OK, so maybe I am being a tad cynical.......
