So helping keep things afloat until a buyer is secured does not appeal to you?

Fry fiddles (not in the corrupt sense) while Rome burns
kpturner replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Come on now - have you never given anyone any grief on this forum? I can't see anything that could be considered abuse - and whatever there has been seems to have been reciprocated as far as I can see (i.e. comments about avatars). Get off your high horse. -

What has fairness got to do with it though? Surely if you want to pipe up and start a thread (or post a response) then you do so in the sure and certain knowledge that some people will agree with you and some most definitely will not. More so if you post an "opinion" rather than a "fact". Some will express themselves more colourfully than others but that is what these forums are mostly all about. The premise of this thread IMHO is nonsense, but the fact that it has generated so many posts still makes it a good thread from a forum perspective. -

If they are genuinely interested in purchasing this club then I doubt they would lose interest and withdraw. If they did that then you would have to seriously doubt their integrity and motives in the first place. I would hope that anyone entering into this process is doing so with their eyes wide open, not expecting the Administrator to bite at the first offer to come his way - especially if it is a speculative "low punt" as it probably is. The only worry about protracted negotiations is the fact that the cash may run out, which is why I would hope that people still back the match being arranged on Sunday and the SaintsAid efforts. My fear is that many people think that such fund raisers are no longer necessary. -

....but how do you know this to be true? Today's echo has him reporting that he is about to finalise discussions with Pinnacle today and hopes to align himself with a serious bidder within 48 hours. Radio Solent has (haven't heard it) an interview with Fry stating that there are no bids yet. This could mean just that, or it could be "no acceptable bids yet". So are you speculating that he has an offer already and is waiting for others, or do you know this to be true? Could it be that if it is true, that it would not be in anyones interest to accept it even if "Rome is burning" because it is so derisory. Perhaps the only offer is from Marc Jackson. Do you really want him to accept that and damn the rest? -
I keep listening in at the wrong time obviously. :-(

Why thank you. Nice of you to say so.....or was that tongue in cheek too? I can't tell because I am not quite on your obviously lofty intellectual level. -

So let me see if I have this right - Fry at Begbies Traynor is losing his way because he hasn't announced the sale of the club yet, and Fry at Barclays is responsible for our relegation and points deduction because he was party to a sound business decision for his employers? -

Same way he knows that Stuart Pearce is our next manager because he spotted him filling his car with fuel. I think he goes to school with my 9 year old and who is this "Fry at Barclays" character that has sprung to life. -

Couldn't make any sense of this post - and who is Fry at Barclays? Presumably not Mark Fry from Begbies Traynor. -
Not in the remotest bit relevant you dozy ****.....and I may be middle aged in your view but at least I can still fit in my seat at St Mary's
-
Surely using the "listen live" button results in you listening to the live broadcast, so unless radion solent are playing the interview over and over in a loop how will this result in being able to hear the interview?
-
Glad to hear the Jackson bid is probably getting the cold shoulder, but why all the negativity regarding Pinnacle? Despite they themselves not being some massively rich organisation, they are supposedly well connected and represent people that do have a realistic budget for the club. I remain optimistic that whoever Pinnacle represent will be good news for the club, and I haven't seen anything to pursuade me otherwise - unless I have just missed a crucial piece of information. Derry sounds very anti. Is this because they have taken so long (which could be considered throroughness) or is more known about the people behind this bid that I am not privvy to?
-
No - I ain't rich enough.

I can't imagine anything positive for the future if a consortium headed by this guy buys the club. When he answered "That is something that really and honestly will never be answered properly and completely" it is most likely because he has no bloody idea. If this is a leading contender then things are going to get much worse. He comes across like some gobby bloke who has been badgered by his mates down the pub into "having a punt" to see how far he can get before he gets sussed.

I am sure lots of us have done similar things in recent weeks - and, of course, it is quite possible that some of the players to whom you allude have done the same thing too. The fact that it is not publicised doesn't mean that it hasn't happened.........ok, maybe I am also finding that difficult to believe! But who knows? I am not sure what age consitutes "middle aged" but I am no spring chicken and I cannot remember the time before 'every man for himself and feck the rest' :-)

Continuity (or lack of it) has been a major contributor to our decline recently - so I for one would like to see him stay for the next season. I can't see any mileage in changing yet again - but then if we get new owners they can (and probably will) think otherwise. I fully expect a Wigley/Gray dream team with Merrington as Director of Football and Branfoot managing the Academy.

OK - although I am getting a bit bored with this thread, which players should have deferred their wages? Everyone who played for the first team? Everyone in the entire squad? Anyone who earned over £5000 a week? What about managers, coaches, peope who work in the ticket office? Somebody suggest where the line should be drawn and why.
-
"Defer" = "Give up" if the employer goes bust in the interim.
-
Did you actually read my post before quoting it?
-
Can we delete this thread before somebody dies of old age while reading through it?
-
...but would you give up your wages (or even some of them)?
-
That is not the players fault, so why should they pick up the tab? You can blame them for all sorts of things - including being crap or having a sh!t attitute - but you can't blame them for poor financial management and you can't blame them for picking up the wages the people who signed them agreed to pay for their services.

You are a time wasting knob....in case you hadn't realised :smt075
