Strange that Reading's next manager should be such a cause for discussion on a Saints forum?
-
Medical reasons - or just to give people a headache?
-
Could you elaborate for the ignorant?

Change the colour - I just puked on my keyboard :vom:

Salz is also quoted in the Echo today. I haven't got it to hand, but he is being portrayed as a worried fan rather than being involved in any of the bids. He did say that he has managed to get wealthy people interested in investing, but getting them from the "interested" stage to the "here is the money" stage is extremely difficult.
-
The Echo reckon that the Green (Jackson?) bid is on the table and that £500k has been lodged in some account to pay the bills. Could be complete trollox of course. I am not sure how that money can be touched if they do not also become the preferred bidder before that time.

Ever heard the saying "No news is good news"? If everything had collapsed then we would know about it. The fact that it is all quiet is both very frustrating and somewhat reassuring IMHO (apart from a nagging fear about the end of month wage bill).

I think the reverse may have been true, because that match was clearly fixed. I was there, crushed in the Milton, and Spurs needed a draw to go up with us and Bolton. We needed a win for the title. I have never seen such a high profile match so poorly contested. Somebody nearly buggered up the whole thing when he hit the post (Tony Funnell I believe).

Whilst I understand the point you are making, it is not that simple to just "get a station built". The reason the line was shut down in the first place was that it was not commercially viable, and having a football stadium there that only gets used once a fortnight for about 10 months does not make it any more commercially viable. I did see a figure quoted for the cost of reopening the line and it was surprising - sadly I can't remember what it was - but suffice to say it was not practical or affordable.
-
You missed the point entirely.
-
Surely you mean "losing". "Loosing" is what you did to the neighbours fine plaster work with the (over enthusiastic:axe: ) drilling with a kango.
-
....if we ever get to play in it.
-
Yeah....but apart from that? :-)
-
...and who said football fans are fickle?? Come on, we spent years at the Dell dreaming of a decent stadium and now that we have one we want to pick holes in it. Sure, there are some negatives but I still think its a great facility compared to what we were used to. Of course it is similar to all the others built by Barrs (Walkers, Pride Park?) but compared to the Dell (and many other grounds we will see this season if we stay afloat) it is wonderful.
-
Oh well yes I think that is a coincidence - or to put it another way I do not believe it makes sense to blame two consecutive relegations on us being in a new stadium. Poor managerial appointments maybe, but atmosphere at the stadium - naah. I think we forget that we actually had some very good times at SMS under WGS.
-
Sorry - not with you there. Is what just a coincidence?
-
(Not having a go at you directly so I apologise, but) is it just me or does anyone else get baffled by this perpetuated story about not backing WGS with appropriate funds after the cup final? Where was all this money supposed to come from? Here we are on the brink of liquidation because the board took a £6-7m punt on promotion that we could not afford, and yet people still think the root cause of our demise was not taking a punt (that we equally could could not afford) on taking the team up a level after the cup final. WGS did make signings at that time (Phillips?) but he didn't have mega bucks to spend - but perhaps that is because we didn't have mega bucks available. I don't know the details of the finances but that is how I perceive things were at the time.
-
Maybe we should just worry about if there will be a football club next season and then fret about the manager afterwards. The bottom line is that there will be no managerial changes or appointments until a) a buyer completes the deal or b) we are liquidated......actually come to think of it b) won't result in an appointment either!

Can't agree with you there. I think the raking is fine. Have you been to Ajax (Amsterdam Arena) - so steep its bloody frightening - you feel like you are sitting on the edge of a precipice. The atmosphere is great when St Mary's is full (Wolves in the Cup quarter final for instance). I don't think we can blame our demise on the stadium.
-
Never let spelling or punctuation get in the way of a useful post. IMHO it is quite an interesting thread.....and sorry about the sarcasm - I cannot help myself.
-
Overseen by whom?
-
Yes I remember now - thanks for reminder. I stand corrected.
-
Yes, 'fraid so Dad. So "Foreseeing our demise not that great" ?? I don't understand. Are you saying that he predicted our demise and that is a bad thing?
-
I wish I could say the same - but I just can't help myself :-)
