I was really after the ones that didn't get a sniff here - not the ones that we let go reluctantly. Has Cedric Baseya become a top drawer player already?

Wade Elliott's success today reminds me - has anyone managed to compile a "ones that got away" 11? In other words, 11 players who were either Saints fans or on Saints books but never got a sniff, who then went on to be top drawer players (or potentially so with Elliott). It can include players who eventually did come back past their best. Up front we've probably got Kevin Phillips, Scott MacDonald and possibly Vokes - Bobby Robson too perhaps? Midfield - Dennis Wise, Wade Elliott, Brian Howard, Darren Anderton - any others? Anyone with a long memory got any defenders or a goalkeeper? Was Phillips a defender when he was here?

It must be the end of a Bank Holiday weekend with zilch news of interest....otherwise why would this thread be on the Saints forum and get over twenty replies (so far) - including mine!!!?

Of course not - even he had standards.

I don't think they can have been offered new contracts (the article doesn't actually say that does it?). More likely the subject of a new contract on less money has been discussed in principle.
