I don't think it is in any official rule book - its just some European addition. If have never played a game that includes it, which is probably a good thing because I can see it causing some angst :-)

The original Uruguayan rules for me. Prefer singles to pairs though. Gets a bit tense when the discard pile gets big though. My biggest hand = 3750.

That implies that you would prefer someone who is willing to chuck more money in than he gets back and someone who will be willing to run the club at a loss. Doesn't that just mean we would be back in the **** if they get run over by a bus? I think someone who is rich enough to get it back on its feet then run it as a viable business (possibly with some profit) is infinitely preferable, so if your assessment of Branson is correct he would be ideal.
