  1. For me VAR is being used for too many incidents which are open to interpretation. It should only be used for offsides because they are objective, you are either onside or you aren’t. It’s the communication with fans that is the issue with these decisions. If you had the VAR ref wear a mic it would be a start. For everything else just leave it to the on field ref, unless it’s a huge error (like the red card with Lo Celso yesterday or a dive) in which case have the VAR ref invite the on field ref to review his decision on the pitch side monitor. Using it for handball is a joke because there’s so much grey area around the rule itself.
  2. I remember Licka joining us originally on trial. I was at a pre season friendly and thought I recognised him in the car park beforehand but wasn’t 100%, so my Dad yelled “Mario!” And lo and behold he came over to chat to us. I asked him if he’d signed a contract yet and he said “Yes I just sign for three years!”, grinning like a maniac. He then thanked us for saying hi. He was genuinely so happy to be at the club, and he’s been a cult hero in our family ever since.
  3. Only saw the second half but in my opinion we looked the better side. Ings should've scored that header. He looked pretty frustrated at then end and was being consoled by Ralph. Hope his confidence isn't knocked. And we should've had a pen (or a VAR check at the very least) but glad we got a goal back as we certainly didn't deserve to lose that. Anyone know when the replay is likely to be? would love a trip to the new stadium Also I know its being said a lot but what a player JWP is at the moment. he's just everywhere. so so good.
  4. I miss dannysfc. Most positive guy ever but haven’t seen him post in years
  5. https://live.soccerstreams.net/event/crystal-palace-southampton-live-stream/87007 few here but I'm getting a lot of buffering

  7. We really do turn it on away from home! Any more streams about? The one linked above is only audio for me
  8. Wow wow wow. WHAT a turnaround! Nearly crashed the car when Ingsy scored - what a player he is
  9. We’re gonna have trouble attracting players imo. Who wants to come to a club who’ve flirted with relegation for the last two seasons, currently in or around the bottom 3 again, and with a 9-0 defeat to their name? It’s gonna take a huge change in fortunes over the next two months for us not to be odds on relegation candidates by the time the window opens. Short term loans might be the best we can hope for.
  10. Who comes in though? I don’t disagree with you but our CM options are so limited and so poor. I don’t understand why we didn’t strengthen there in the summer. Or make more of an effort to keep Lemina. Shocking.
  11. I mean everyone is bad, but this is one of the worst individual performances I’ve ever seen from a Premier League player by Valery. Surely he has to come off if only to protect his confidence
  12. This is pretty dire isn’t it? The annoying thing is, if it was us who had gone down to 10 men and taken the lead, it’d be 1-1 by now.
  13. Wow, Adams so unlucky!
  14. Thanks for this, much appreciated
  15. Thinking of heading back to Southampton to watch this. Cant bear to watch on my own and nobody in Kent will care. Any recommendations for pubs?
  16. 28/30 for me too. At least one lucky guess! if you like these sorts of quizzes the host site is sporcle.com. Loads of time killers on there, and a number of Saints related ones. Here’s an answer to help you out with a lot of them - Darren Kenton
  17. Over the course of the game it’s a fair result, the momentum really ebbed and flowed between the two teams. I thought we were looking favourites to get the next goal before the red card so that’s a shame, but overall we’ve gotta be happy with a point after defending with ten men for 20 odd mins. Some really good performances from the CBs and Romeu in particular. Utd are pretty ordinary but Wan-Bissaka is some player. Tackle after tackle.
  18. Mate I grew up in Gosport AND went to school in Portsmouth. The week after the 4-1 was one of the worst of my life. Doesn’t stop me looking forward to this game. ITS OUR TIME
  19. I was up that way over the weekend and watching the local news. I’m think they said £2m would be enough to ensure the club could operate for the next TWO seasons. Doesn’t seem a lot when you look at the PL money. Desperate shame.
  20. You’re absolutely right, wow. Ings in particular needs to find his shooting boots, we cannot afford to keep squandering chances like that. It’s really been a feature of our game over the last few years.

    Fan's Forum

Listened on the radio. Usual stuff from moving the away fans to Gao investing to VAR. Nothing really new. Slightly odd/awkward moment when PEH was asked about signing a new contract and Semmens jumped in saying PEH had been open about “what he wants to do and where he wants to go” and that conversation “will remain private”, which sounded like maybe a new contract isn’t forthcoming. Perhaps I was reading too much into it but was a bit strange. Cant help but feel we’d get a lot more out of these evenings if our fans learned to construct a question in under 500 words.
  22. All a bit embarrassing for the club at the moment. No season tickets, no membership cards, no kit, no assistant manager. I guess they hoped the football would distract us but then we get tonked by Burnley. Fans forum could be fun tonight

    Kevin Danso

Fingers crossed this works out. But if it is a loan with a view to first option purchase - it seems pretty risk free to me. Song idea, how about this to rhythm is a dancer: We’ve got Kevin Danso He stands at 6 foot 3 so You won’t beat him in the air! Wooah Kevin Danso Wooah you won’t beat him in the air!
  24. Feel a lot more positive about VAR after reading that, thanks for sharing. I still think the “phases of play” thing is a worry. Like Salah not being flagged offside when we played Liverpool last season but Keita’s goal still standing because it was in the next “phase”. That just seems unfair on defenders who have executed a perfect defensive line in order to end an attack and win possession back for their team. Linesmen aren’t going to flag so it puts a LOT more pressure on defences.
  25. I think RB is our best player and it would be a real shame to see him go, particularly bearing in mind our defensive frailties of the last few years. Like others have said, I wouldn’t begrudge him a move to a big European side (for a lot more than £10m mind) but I’d be worried going into a season with Targett and Vokins as our only LB options.
